  1. Not particularly helpful I know, but I slide the seats forward when my kids get in and then they fit fine (I have std Caterham leather seats). You could try changing the harness over with one that has a greater degree of adjustment. Jon
  2. about 12.30 today driving along Embankment
  3. I know there are quite a few keen cyclists on here, but apologies for this not being 7 related. I have for sale a Follow Me Tandem, which is a system for hooking up childrens bikes to the back of an adult one. We have used it with great success with my son, who has now grown out of it. It is a much better system than the usual tow-bar contraptions. See the link below for more details, the video is particually informative. http://www.followmetandem.co.uk/ It comes with all the fittings (various bolt sizes), instructions, and yours for the bargain price of £80. Ideally collection, but can post if required at cost. Jon
  4. Just to add some balance to the manufacturers - mine is a Thundersport one, and is fine (albiet tight to fit). I assume you had the doors on, and they were tucked inside the hood. Jon
  5. That must have been exciting! I have been on the motorway at 70+mph with the half hood on and no problem. Mine is a bit of a pig to popper on though, so maybe I have very grippy poppers. Jon

    Baby wipes

how about a plastic owl for your roll bar to deter the pigeons
  7. GN54 driving through hitchin just now. Nice matching half hood!

    Starting problems

On a similar but slightly different tack, my 1.6k has done the same thing twice since fitting my aeroscreen. I now realise it is because I have been turning off the ignition and the almost instantly removing the FIA battery key, rather than waiting the usual 30sec it used to take me to get out of the car with the screen and doors on. (I always take the FIA key out every since I got a flat battery). Once it had stalled and I had experienced the same of having people think I can't drive, it would start and idle fine. Make of that what you will! Jon

    Half Doors question

I am sure I have seen people with the front edge of their half doors inside the scuttle. Is this considered good behaviour? I have a set of rigid half doors that I bought second had on here and have yet to fit them, but I was contemplating this approach. Jon
  10. 270R on a 15 plate. Saturday morning. I was in the yellow 7 that came up behind you breifly. A great day for enjoying your new toy!
  11. Yeah! My first spot. On my way to the Dunsfold Handling Day having picked my brother up from Ware. Such a great day for sevening!
  12. Bags came yesterday - thanks for all your organising Jonathan. Jon
  13. I know what you mean about rat race not picking up. My car is in for a service next week which I booked a while ago but haven't been able to get through to confirm.
  14. Jonathan/Martin I am going to the DHD also, so if Martin would be so kind as to pick mine up too that would be great. Let me know the final payment details when you are ready. Jon
  15. I am planning on collecting mine from JK on Friday. Is there anyone near me whose order I could collect at the same time? Jon
  16. Thought I would ressurect this thread to keep JK happy I have just had my Dunsfold handling day place confirmed, and am going to book the Club track day at Brands later on, both of which need a helmet. I hired one last year, but as my head isn't growing any more, I thought I would bite the bullet and purchase one, especially as I now have the option to go aeroscreen. Is this above information still true, and how rigorously is it policed? There seems to be a wide range is helmet prices - however I would hope it isn't that the more you pay the less brain damage you could expect in a crash. Any advice on what I should look for would be appreciated. Jon
  17. I thought that the immobiliser stopped the fuel pump from working so that the engine would turn over fine, and initially start, and then stop due to lack of fuel. Therefore even with the immobiliser activated the engine should still turn over. I am not sure if that is what you are experiencing. I appreciate that this is not very helpful, other than if you are experiencing something else, maybe you can rule out the immobilser. Jon
  18. Smiffy. I did this event last year as a newbie and it was great. To be honest after 3x20min sessions I was exhausted so just an evening was great. I did get tuition which I found useful as I'm a real track day novice.
  19. Yup - thoroughly enjoyed it last year. Put me down again! Jon
  20. 64 plate - spotted my my mother-in-law.
  21. I did my first track day last year at the Brands evening event. I thought it was a great introduction to TDs and there seemed to be a number of novices all getting aquianted to track driving. It would be good to do something similar again to attact more of the new owners.
  22. I'd be interested in the half hood storage roll. I assume it is black vinyl and for an S3. What sort of condition is it in? Jon
  23. Snap! Same place as mine. I also noticed a fine splattering of oil on the underside of some of the water hoses and cables above the the exposed fly wheel on the RHS of the engine. As I said in an earlier post, mine has been diagnosed as a rear crank seal leak hence some oil being picked up by the flywheel. Hope you get it sorted Jon
  24. Jean My leak is actually from the rear crank seal in the engine which is leaking into the bell housing and then out between the bell housing and the sump (hopefully you can see where it is starting to leak in the picture). However the oil would wet the gasket and also cause a small drip on the bottom of the sump at teh front of the engine. I have left it for about 9 months as it is a very small weep/leak with no perceptable drop in oil level in the engine over that time. When the car is serviced in April I will get it fixed - which is an engine out job. Jon Jon
