    Loton Thanks

And a massive thank you to the MSA! The new list 1B tyres are wonderful... such fun... trying to drive at speed and not knowing whether you will make it round the corner or stop in time....Pure bliss!
  2. If we are first off at 8.30 then we had better be ready for scrutineering when it begins at 7.45! First run before a sausage sandwich
  3. Congratulations both, great news! May you both have a fantastic honeymoon.......that lasts until October
  4. Also, "All red cars can only compete on the Saturday"
  5. Beware of sticking numbers on shiny bodywork (not that I have any) and leaving them for a season, they may lift some paint when eventually removed. Jeff
  6. Ok, tried the FHR on with standard belts and all seemed well. Belts slope slightly downwards and nothing moves Also practiced undoing Hans posts while watching MOD Only downside was finding a label on my seatbelts stating 'not valid after 2008' Jeff
  7. Thanks Shaun, I looked at the plate option and the cost of going to Arch along with the standard Hans FHR and wrongly thought the Hybrid Sport would be the easier option I'll give Arch a call and get it done properly. Jeff
  8. Has anyone got one of these or tried one? I bought one thinking that I wouldn't have to alter the seat belt mounts, but according to the enclosed booklet the standard mount positions aren't suitable? Jeff
  9. Thank you ECR and Paul, I shall get it sorted. Malcolm Jeff
  10. 2003 K 1800 roadsport and the Fan thermostat switch thingy on the radiator is tatered. Does anyone know what type it is to enable me to get one from the local spares garage please? Jeff
  11. Damn, I thought they looked the same! Better get some ordered PDQ and get the car ready
  12. ZZS for me too.... Using a hot air gun, a putty knife and some tyre wall paint ive managed to change my existing R's into S's Gentleman Jeff.
  13. I would imagine that nobody gives a hoot about what numbers are on the tyres except for the all important grade of rubber. It may have ZZR written on the side but if its in hard rubber what's the point? I can only thank our team for keeping us informed and doing their best to keep up with this farce. Jeff
  14. Strewth, that was quickly booked up! 2nd reserve??? Jeff
  15. Guys, Is this for imperial or metric chassis... or both? Which nuts and bolts do you need? Jeff

    4,5,6 or 7 then?

Just to clarify, are OE ZZR's medium/hard compound? What makes them different to 'normal' ZZR's ?

    Scoring proposals

I stand to be corrected, but... Reading the Westfield regs they use estimated target times in their championship, I have no idea how successful it is but they also have an appeal process to challenge these times! I'm sure we don't want to go down that route, I would much rather have joint championship winners shaking hands rather than disputing estimated times. Jeff
  18. Previous comments have stated that this is an ideal chance to make some radical changes to our class structures. I'm now thinking that the least changes we make would be for the better based on all the things we don't know. Future tyre specs and what other speed championships do, can only be based on speculation, therefore reacting with radical changes may be dangerous as we will only have to reverse them later on. Also, we have to be careful that changes made to attract more new competitors don't instead deter existing competitors, lets make these changes when we know more definitely what other championships are doing so we can adapt to suit, 1 more year surely wont make that much difference. The scoring system has to adapt to the tyre changes, but I think the class structures we have are not far off what is best for all, old and new. 210HP in class 4 is a small enough change that seems to be readily acceptable. As for mod prod, class 7 only? Jeff
  19. Blimey I must type quicker, four posts since I started!
  20. I am also happy to compete in class 3 on 1B's next year with a 150bhp limit and would also compete if the class went up to 175bhp as I'm not sure how much difference it would make. Would it attract more competitors (a good thing) or would it confuse or irritate those already competing? Again its down to peoples conception of what they think they need to be competitive in class. If the limit goes up to 175 the k series owners would have to go to throttle bodies and cams to achieve this (Sigma 150's as well?) and then the rolling road proving if asked for. What I'm saying is the current class rules would have to be replaced simply with 175bhp max, on 1B's and road legal. If raising to 175 attracts more competitors then great. If I were then to prove uncompetitive in class 3 with 150 I would move quite happily the year after to class 2 to avoid the expense, but would others? As Rob says, 210 in class 4 seems fine to me if those that it effects are ok with it, and that it may attract more competitors. I really cant see the point in creating a new class for the 'lower HP' people to still play with sticky (1C) tyres, it just creates yet another class that may have few competitors. Surely the most important decision is where to make the break in class structure to go Mod Prod. Jeff
  21. My original idea of merging class 2 and 3 was to help with the scoring and class records currently used. Reading the thread on scoring I'm of the mind that this is not necassary as there seems to be easier proven ways of handling the scoring. Merging may, as suggested, happen in years to come as tyre lists change further, but while there is a big enough difference between 1A's and B's lets keep them apart. So the concencus seems to be keeping classes 1and 2 as they are, class 3 on 1B's all road legal. How do the competitors in higher classes feel about tyres, going mod prod and classes? Jeff
  22. Class 3 competitors have got to buy new rubber next year regardless (unless we go modprod), Class 2 can keep their 1A's. If 2 and 3 are merged on 1B's then both classes have to buy new rubber! I do agree though Oli, what Caterham sell on their cars is an important factor. Jeff
  23. I would also be happy to run 1B's in class 3. I'm sure the difference between 1A's and 1B's would still be great enough to warrant two different classes it would however (hence my proposal) require the scrapping of class records and a new overall championship scoring system. As Mark D states we have been through these changes before and managed well enough using the current class scoring method until new class records can be set Jeff.
