  1. Thanks to you both for the information. Regards, Ian
  2. Still looking for a set of the above 13" dia preferred 6J Triumph/Ital PCD (3.75")
  3. Does anyone know if crossflow engines supplied by Caterham (as part of a complete kit) were modified to run on unleaded petrol. If so, when is the approximate date from which such engines were supplied? Does anyone have any experience of using "lead additives" or devices such as a Fuelcat to utilise unleaded petrol in older engines designed to run on leaded petrol?
  4. Thanks. I've heard positive things about the Rainexpert. Does anyone have any experience/comment on the Rainsport?
  5. I’m sure there has been much discussion regarding this, but I cannot get any past threads via the Search Function. Anyway, I am looking for any recommendations for tyres for a live axle, 4speed crossflow. The car is mainly used for touring and local runs, no track use. I’m looking for an “all round” (no pun intended) tyre which will perform well in both the wet and dry, as such ultimate grip is not the main concern, just a general good performance. Tyres are 13”/14” dia x6”.
  6. Just noticed the above Standard axle advertised on EBay.
  7. Just noticed on eBay “Original complete bodyshell” for the above, with wings. Looking at the photos bodyshell needs work. Wings said to be unused. A separate advert lists a hood frame for an S4.
  8. Cheers. Strange one. Hope you manage to source some seats.
  9. Any one have the above for sale? Ital PCD - 13in dia preferred.
  10. Story. Sent you a number of Emails/messages and got no response. Consequently the seats have been sold.
  11. I have a pair of black leather S Type seats with headrests. They are in reasonable condition with no tears or discolouration, There are some slight depressions in the leather from long time storage. (They have been in my garage for sometime, being purchased to replace cloth seats in a Seven which I have now sold). One is currently stripped down to the frame as the rear plastic panel was split. I have a refurbishment kit from Oxted consisting of a near rear panel and foam inserts (cost about £60) and it's a simple job to re assemble. Blatmail or phone 07979957740 if of interest.
  12. Does anyone know the approximate date the Factory changed from drum to disc brakes on cars fitted with De Dion rear axles?
  13. Mechanical drive from gearbox. All other instruments OK.
  14. What is the likely cause of a speedo reading ok up to 40mph then sticking at this speed and notreading speeds any higher, combined with the odometer not registering. Is it likely to be the instrument itself or the drive mechanism?
  15. Thanks for all the advice. There seems to be overall approval of the Zetec engine. However, I don’t think I would be 100% comfortable using it with a standard Ital axle. Ian
  16. Thanks to you both for the information. Another thought - is the standard live axle up to coping with the extra power from the Zetec?
  17. What opinions do people have on the pros and cons of Caterhams fitted with a Zetec engine? Are there any specific mods which should be carried out and any potential problems to look for when purchasing a Caterham fitted with a Zetec? I am aware of the Dunnell conversions are there any other recommended firms and what mods are required to the engine/cooling system etc for installation in a Caterham? Ian
  18. I am doing the work (limited to replacement of the plastic seat back and new foam padding) myself so don’t know the cost of a full refurb. The kit I bought from Oxted was c. £65 this includes the new plastic seat back and foam pads. If I were you I would give Oxted a ring (01883712112) and discuss your requirements with them. They are very helpful.
  19. Hi, I am currently refurbishing a seat the plastic back panel of which had split. I am using a refurb kit supplied by Oxted. I have stripped the seat down to the bar frame. Basically the back panel and the leather cover can be removed by cutting through the cable ties which you will see holding everything to the frame on the rear of the seat. I haven’t removed the cover from the base, as the is ok. Ian

    doors

Used a spray adhesive (can't remember name - but check somewhere like Screwfix who will have several available). I cut the trim open, a few small slits (c2" long) to spray in the glue.

    doors

Did it a while ago using a spray adhesive. To secure while adhesive sets lay door on floor, o/s down, wooden blocks to stabilise cover internal face with vis queen/ plastic sheet and then fill door cavity with sand top wth ply sheet and bricks to weigh down lining so that it bonds evenly to door.
  22. Don’t understand why people post these fake ads, I maybe naive but what you they gain from it?
