  1. John In answer to your first question... Errr... NO! The bite I took out of my gearbox mounting plate was deep enough to remove the front pair of mounting holes... with the box mounted to the rear most pair of holes the Prop UJ definitely does NOT bottom out on the back of the bearing housing! (Well not on mine anyway) Can you measure the distance from the rear mounting hole centres to say the back of the chassis member across the Trans tunnel bellow the prop/diff flange and compare with Arch or another car...? See if your mounting bracket is in the std position... Was your old box mounted on the front or rear holes...?? If you compare old and new boxes do the mating faces (bellhousing - mounts - rear) roughly line up? Odd... if it all came out it should all fit back in assuming the only new item (G60) is dimensionally the same.... Gary
  2. Dave To be honest I made my own flexible hose for the rear AP calipers on my 94 HPC from parts bought from Think Auto... But yes I did use 90deg fittings on the back of the calipers.... I would have thought the hose loop would be too big otherwise... Gary
  3. Roger I bought the alloy pump pully from Spiess and it was fitted by Rob at Protune when my car last had some head work done... so in answer to your question, though I did not do it myself, it can be done... Gary
  4. Bob As far as I know the only belt and pulley layout for the XE stone guards is the pre LN.... BUT The stone guard I have is part of a Speiss kit and is sized around the smaller LN Vernier pulleys but uses a pre LN idler layout with a custom belt length to suite (no tensioner etc)... the alloy water pump pulley has LN tooth profiles also.... the 2X large diameter metal idlers needed come from SBD Aves was selling a complete Swindon setup a month or so ago... you just need the belt... do a 2 month search in for sale for Swindon XE and just check the tooth profiles.. Gary
  5. Wile7 Spent a couple of hours kicking tyres etc and talking all things Lotus.... And made the big mistake of having a look at his Esprit V8... which has got me thinking... 🥰 Ho hum... its only money...
  6. BTTT I had a look at the bits and pieces for sale last night and picked up a couple of pieces for myself... If any body is after a set (5) of the 15" Prisoner wheels these are mint, complete with nuts, nut covers and key with 3 new and 2 virtually new tyres... a nice buy for someone.. Brand new wide track BLUE ARB in there as well... Lots of Elan parts to come….. Very nice bloke too… Gary
  7. Ammo If no luck above I have the original Fan as fitted to my HPC in 1994... To my knowledge it was fitted across the range at that time... It came from the old brass Rad... and fits the later alloy one... Gary
  8. John Dibs on the diff. bolts please... Cheers Gary
  9. Aves Couple of questions.... Would you consider splitting any of this lot...?? Are toothed items for the later LN tooth form...? and Do you have any photoes...? Cheers Gary
  10. From memory a figure of 12kg comes to mind for the later Pot type.. AND... the differance is all out on the rim...
  11. If this is the slave cylinder that mounts outside the bell housing to actuate the existing manual clutch fork.... ??? I would be interested.. Any comments from anybody on fitting and use would be appreciated Gary
  12. Andy Have a chat with KN... I believe they still have a few hanging about.. Gary
  13. Mike Its taken you a while to collect all the pars for your Vx DS system... Why the change of mind? Gary
  14. Yep... a large semi-circular cut/bite needs to be taken from the front of the old chassis plate to allow room for the G60s sump... An ark about 3-4mm inboard of the tunnel sides to 10mm or so in front of the rear mounts (the sump is round). No other mods need to be done but I had my diff mounts gusseted when the car was re-skinned at Arch 6 years ago... The overdrive gearset has been a pleasure to use... 5 good gears for the track and a nice overdrive for touring... Went to Switzerland/Northern Italy and back in 5 days in September and the overdrive made the whole experience a lot more bearable..!! Gary
  15. Agree with above... I always split the engine and gear box at the bell housing when removing it. Even with the removable diagonals it is a large heavy piece of iron work to shift and can do quite a bit of damage if it gets out of control.... though it is not difficult to do. Ideally a 2 man job.. Use a condom or rubber glove taped over water pump exit as well as this tends to shed undrained coolant over everything... Have fun.. Gary
  16. Andy Just up the road from you in a lovely bit of country... Riverview Welding Services Unit 7, Quell Farm Business Units, Greatham Nr. Pulborough W. Sussex RH20 2ES Ask to speak to Adrian... he is the boss. He has done a number of things for me in the past in alli and stainless and I know he has worked on other 7s as well... he,s a keen biker.... Cheers Gary
  17. Graham I have been told by CC the Crossflow rad is not directly interchangeable with the Vx/K rad as the inlet/outlets are a larger diameter on the Crossflow... you would need tapered hoses...?? Cheers Gary
  18. Tyrone Spoken to Tweeks and the manufacturer and have been assured the OMEX will opperate with Twin coils... RJ Will Blatmail you some more info for the box....
  19. Graham 1st dibs on rad... My Vx originally had the copper Rad that was std fitment in he mid 90s which was replaced by the CC alloy rad which, in turn, this rad replaces.... I do not know if the Crossflow was originally fitted with the same rad as the Vx... Any crossflow experts out there...????? Dave 2nd dibs on the rad... Ian... All the Brake parts are ready for your collection... Cheers Gary

  21. Giles The "boat anchor" as it is know by non believers is a pretty bomb proof unit in std form though if running wet sump be carefull with the amount of oil in the car as the shallow sump is not very tolerant of over filling... there are loads of threads on here about oil grade selection, sump pickup pipe mods and oil levels etc. Appart from this coolant issue the only other fairly common problem is it does crack engine mounts so check those every so often... If you are running a std HPC from the factory have a chat with someone, say freestyle, about spring rates and get it flat floored... this will transform the handling as the std factory setup is rubbish.... Dont believe what the non believers say.... they can be made to go round corners...!! just enjoy... and dont stand too close or you'll catch upgradeitis Gary
  22. Giles Sounds about right... mine used to push coolant in quite large quantities out of the pressure cap on the tank and it would end up all over the engine and right back to the scuttle panel. The temp gauge would go nuts in slow trafic and I was bleeding the rad after every run.... the heater was on all the time to try increase cooling.... The expansion tank is idealy too low in its position at the front of the car but the addition of the plastic restrictor, as described above, solved the problem.... You dont have to wipe that sticky white mess out of the engine bay any longer... Gary
  23. Before you go to the expense and hard work of new cylider heads etc try somethng simple first... Air in the cooling system - over heating and over pressurisation are not uncommon with the Caterham Vx instalation, mine used to do this and I would spend ages trying to get all the air out of the radiator.... Caterham solved this for the Vx race cars using a plastic flow restrictor in the small hose that goes into the top of the expansion tank... a piece of plastic/aluminium roughly 8mm diameter, 10mm long with a 1mm diameter hole through the middle pushed into the hose before it is fitted to the tank.... This allows air to pass to the tank but stops the large flow of coolant which generates bubbles.... Fitted one of these recently to a well tuned K that kept over pressurising and throwing its coolant everywhere and it stopped the problem instantly... Its cheep and easy... if it does not work its not a big deal but it may save you alot of time and money with new heads.... Have fun.... Gary
  24. TopQ Tried to blat mail you but.... would be interested in your std (Ford De-dion) CF prop if you need to sell..... :-) Gary
