  1. Phil Looks like I am adding my hearty congratulations on a stunning first run from what is increasingly my normal place towards the back of the pack. Anyway a fine reward for all the time and effort you have put in over the past few years just a shame that it will be expurged from any official recognition although the response on here amply reflects the genuine recognition of your competitors. Goodwood 2010 remains etched in my memory as I suspect Sundays outcome will for you. So if you can't beat them ........... wheres the nearest eligibility scrutineer??? Grahame
  2. Chris As the HDLCC web site has no information about the entry list for this meeting then how long do they expect people to hang on waiting to know if they are in or not With travel and accomodation often being the most expensive part of the weekend (if cancelled) not for the first time the L7C seems to being treated as a second class citizen. Grahame
  3. This in no way helps those of us with custom silencers in which the catalytic converter is fully enclosed inside a single can Mine is Powerspeed who were pretty popular so there must be plenty of others out there but sure I have seen other manufacturers as well. How and where do we get guidance to cover this situation? common sense tells me that you can tell from the difference in temperature between the cat section and the silencer section but common sense does not always win the day (eg camera mounts) If the scrutineers want some kind of proof then I would rather know now so it can be found rather than bounced out of the event on the day

    Kaboom...

Dan So sorry the day ended up like this made me look across the office to some of my 'momentoes' of when Mr Con Rod wanted some fresh air at Eppynt If you are buying bits in and need stuff collecting and/or delivering I'm sure we can organise a delivery chain to get the bits to you so you can get back at the earliest opportunity and return to the status quo where several us in the mid field just look at each other after your first runs and chant 'How many seconds quicker!!!! ' Good luck Grahame
  5. Simon said he'd give me the benefit of all his experience and guarantees I'll go faster so could hardly refuse Grahame (would put a smiley emoji now if only I understood the technology!)
  6. Chris Presume it is just a subtlety in wording but SR's for Goodwood state as ususal that FHRs not mandatory in period, road going series and road going specialist classes only. However all Caterham type cars are no longer road going specialist but in a separate class road going kit and replica. So by the book an FHR is required or am I worrying over nothing Grahame
  7. Chris With 60 as the cut off think you will find not all are REAL pensioners. Maybe we need a sub classification along the lines of the old car world, youngtimer-classic-PVT-Vintage-Veteran!
  8. For anyone else in the same boat most companies will not refill and service a bottle over 10 years old Lifeline do a new Zero 2000 2.25L bottle for a little under £100 Grahame
  9. If you could hold a place for me then would be most grateful Grahame Wardall
  10. Will be there and will get entry in this week and will definitely need a garage space with the event being later this year Grahame
  11. Mmmm Having kept my head down after first post this all makes interesting reading. In my naivity when having my first engine built back in 2005 I read the regulations as intending you could modify a standard supersprint 1600 by porting the head to a known standard so that meant leaving the supersprint cams in and going to Dave Andrews for the head. The outcome of that along with the requirement for a catalyst meant a 148.4 BHP maximum at Northampton Motorsport albeit some months after the original group power test 2 years ago versus an original outcome of 138 BHP with a 3 BHP window under the rules of the Roadsport A championship where all engines had to be rebuilt dyno'd and sealed by Minister. The only way we could have prevented the more liberal interpretations of the regulations would be to have ended up with a rule book the size of an encyclopaedia something that should not be needed for low level club motorsport, and would be impossible to construct with the multiplicity of engines in our classes. So continuing as we are seems the only sensible option as anything else would be total overkill for a fun amateur championship, BUT the variety of concerns raised by a number of people of whom David is often the first to put his head above the parapet clearly indicates unresolved concerns.
  12. I have some sympathy with just having a power limit for class 2/3 as this capacity/power area has always been one of the most popular and numerous of the Caterham options and so is and will continue to be a difficult class to legislate true equality. The advantages as I see it are Any newcomers with a modified car can be included if they meet the power requirement No existing competitors are excluded Covers all of the currently available 1600/1800 engines Newcomers need not be put off if they first enter with a less than optimal car as there is plenty of historical evidence of cars with under 155bhp being tolerably competitive (eg David himself) There is no limitation for those competitors who feel the need to exploit the rules to the maximum The only problem I can see (and have expressed in earlier discussions) is that there should be an obligation to prove or be willing to prove that the most competitive cars meet the power limit regulation as the speed trap regulation is hardly adequate for what would now be a pretty open specification. 13. I think thats now the 8 cars we have space for in a garage, if anyone wants to move over to the vacant space in one of Chris's garages that keeps the costs as low as possible for everyone as I had always been willing to absorb any excess costs for the security of a roof over my head for the weekend Grahame
  14. Looks like I've managed to snag one of the other garages at Anglesey So other than Tony who is on the reserve list any other entrants who might want shelter over the weekend then its that same price as Chris at 12.50 per car Grahame
  15. Chris If not too late as I was for the garages can you hold 2 places at the Oyster Catcher for Heather and myself please Grahame

At £10700 well under the typical dealer price for this spec.
  17. Another one who has received little other than a paddock plan do I assume correctly if you are there around 7.30 to 8.00 on Sunday then will not be too late for anything
  18. Phil Whilst I was hoping to make an inspired decision and choose a tyre no one else has and in doing so run away with the class I will also be on ZZS In my attempts to make a decision on facts Toyo have confirmed their older R888 tyre is still available SG (soft) compound and meets the requirements of 1B, its available in 185 and 205 but only with a 60 profile so has larger rolling diameter and may be a tight fit under front wings. Grahame
  19. Phil It may have been done to death but the outcome is as clear as mud to me Picking up snippets of information from other posts Understand need for OEM marking if using ZZR ZZS allowable but may not be quickest R888 is on list 1B but not in standard Caterham sizes? A possible gentlemans (sic) agreement to all run the same tyre in Class3 And now there may yet be a relaxation on 1C's in road going classes What is looking pretty certain is when all is clear there will not be enough of the chosen one to go around and the early events therefore look at risk If someone can add clarity please do Grahame
  20. Single diagonal at rear as well as across the top so looks like everyone is homing in on SD as the manufacturer Will see how they respond to images and request
  21. Thanks for help and advice I thought it was an SD cage as well so will get camera out tomorrow and contact SD with the info
  22. For those of us running the earlier de dion Caterham cage with straight side bars and an overhead diagonal does anyone know if a this design fully meets the requirements of the blue book b who was the original manufacturer in the hope a retrospective homologation sticker might be obtainable Thanks Grahame
  23. Can I add to Jeff's thanks to those who have kept us up to date on the machinations of the MSA over 1b tyres I seem to remember from earlier posts that the MSA was also due to pontificate on the Toyo 888R, any news on that front I am sure that anyone from class 3 and above going to this years racing car show will want to talk to the various tyre manufacturers so unless looking to get the jump on the rest of us any info that can be fed back would be most welcome as if we all leave it to the last moment to order tyres you can bet your life there will be a shortage Grahame
  24. Simon As our resident expert perhaps you can help, I was reading through the Simpson info and I got the impression that the angle and positioning of the top mounts when using the Simpson device was just as critical as when using a classsic HANS device so you have to make the chassis mod no matter which device you decide to use Or am i mistaken (more then likely!!) Grahame
