  1. Andrew, pleased to be able to help, though full credit must go to FullHarness. I suppose I'd better do some work now. Ho hum. Chris Alston Se7ening - it's all miles and smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif
  2. Andrew, You're not the only one with this problem, but have a look a the thread on ChitChat called 'mmmmuulltttippllee pppoossttinnnggggs'. The advice there seems to work for the time being. Chris Alston Se7ening - it's all miles and smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif

  4. I deliberated about this for some time and in the end decided to go for a'stick-on' plate on top of the nose, if for no other reason than I think the 7 looks much better for it. Just MHO. Not been stopped by Mr Plod so far. Chris Alston Se7ening - it's all miles and smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif

  6. Oops, you spotted the deliberate mistake Mr Darenball. I've never heard of a 31R either! I must be more careful when I type I must be more careful when I type I must be more careful when I type......... Chris Alston
  7. I was down there at the weekend and only discovered this site as it was plastered all over the cars in the workshop. www.polleymotorsport.co.uk Chris Alston
  8. John, I decided to go for the 185/70/13 31Rs; one for ground clearance and two only £43 per tyre fitted. So for only £215 you could get a spare as well. Took the car for a blat on Sunday and immediately noticed a better ride and handling. I wished I'd changed tyres sooner. Chris Alston
  9. Thanks for the replies guys - problem now sorted Chris Alston
  10. Took some new wheels today to George Polley who fiited Yoko 21Rs. Great. Just checked the wheels and I think I may have a problem in that looking at the wheels lying flat on the floor 4 have arrows in one direction and the fifth is in the other direction. Therefore it seems to me that I will end up with 1 or 2 wheels running the wrong way whichever may I fit them to the car (even if I reverse the arrows on the front wheels) Have I got this right ? Is it imperative to ensure the tyres are fitted correctly before putting them on the car or will it do no harm for a few miles until I get it sorted? Chris Alston
  11. Graham, Would like the s/steel wing protectors.E-mail me with details of address for payment etc. Thanks Chris Alston
  12. My x/flow started smoking around 18,000 mls and finally had it upgraded by Roger King at approx. 21,000 mls. If you wany any real advice then Roger is your man. My only advice would be stick with the x/flow and a rebuild rather than a swap. Chris Alston
  13. This no. is for sale at £600 ono and available for immediate transfer. If interested please call Phil Whale on 01708-890523 (Eves) or 020-7743-2722 (days) P.S. Nothing to do with me - posted here as a favour to a work colleague of my wife Chris Alston
  14. Thanks for your replies. I'll probably go for Yoko 21Rs, but I guess my real question is that given that ride heights are v. similar what is the better tyre/wheel combination 185/60 on 14" or 185/70 on 13". The car will mainly be used on the road with occasional trackdays in mind. I think ideally I would like to go 13" and 185/60 but am concerned about lowering the ride height to much. Any comments much appreciated. Chris Alston
  15. I'm currently running on 15" rims and 195/50 tyres and I am thinking of changing the wheels and tyres, primarily to ditch the Michelin Pilots. I would also like to keep the same road height (having never clouted the sump to date). Therefore is there any adv/disadv in going for 14x6" with 185/60 or 13x6" with 185/70? I am assuming that either combination will keep the ride height approx the same, or have I got this completely wrong? Chris Alston
  16. About to change wheels from Prisoners to Supalites, other than specifying the size required is there anything else that needs to be quoted? I have seen info re PCDs and offset but don't fully understand. Can someone please explain? Thanks. Chris Alston
  17. My car, 1993 reg with cycle wings, has just passed its MOT without any side repeaters. As I understand it if they are not there they can't be tested. (or maybe Chris at the 7 Workshop just took it to a 'friendly' MOT station. Chris Alston
  18. Andrew, I might be interested in five 14 x 6". I also wondered whether this might get more exposure if it was on Chit Chat. I for one tend not to look at the For Sale section very often and only spotted your offer by chance. Chris Alston
  19. Still available to be bought from MVC at £78.99 per boxed set!!!!! Go on, treat yourself you know you deserve it smile.gif Chris Alston

    Windscreen

Dave, Given your comment about bees flying backwards you obviously don't want to consider the scenario whereby the bee is actually flying forwards and you are travelling twice the speed of the bee blush.gif P.S. In your opinion are aeroscreens that much of a hazard? Thinking about some for next year. Chris Alston
  22. Thanks for all your replies. Chris Alston
  23. The cobra immobiliser (fitted by previous owner) really seems to drain the battery during the winter months even if left for 2 weeks without use. Can anybody recommend a good trickle charger to leave plugged in permanently to solve the problem? Thanks in advance Chris Alston
  24. Pierson, I purchased an indoor cotton cover from a company called Cotton Covers 020 8903 0591. I'm not sure that it was specifically for a 7 but it fits my 95 de dion with cycle wings comfortably. Seems to keep the dust off and there's no condensation. Cost was only £28 but that was approx. June/July 99. Hope this helps. Chris Alston
  25. I am about to replace the original ignition system on my 1700 supersprint with either a Lucas competition system or a 3D mapped ignition system. Can anyone offer advice on which one to go for? Money is not a burning issue but perceived value for money is. Therefore what system did you buy and why? and what have been your results/experiences to date? Many thanks Chris Alston
