Ditched the original (8 years old) 5" Caterham exhaust last May in favour of a 6" Techcraft repackable exhaust, which looks infinitely better (IMHO) than the Caterham one. The reason I changed was to try to get the noise level down for track days. Noise decreased from 110db to 97db. Never had any problems at MOT. Nick, My trickle charger is connected to the battery via a socket on the dashboard. Cut off the crocodile clips from the charger lead and insert a socket into the dashboard. Connect the socket directly to the battery with an appropriate amount of charger lead. Fit jack plug directly onto the remaining end of the charger lead. Place jack plug in socket in dashboard, switch on charger. Leave garage. Job done. The only additional item that is required that didn't come with the trickle charger (mine's an AirFlow)was the jack plug/socket combo. Welding a petrol tank doesn't seem like a good idea to me blush.gif I had a new tank back in November 2000. I think the cost was £140 (+VAT?) Jam, I almost had the same problem when I fitted my FIA bar, although the hood just about fits it is stretched very very tight and is a real b@rstard to fit. It seems to me that its all down to how the poppers and bases were originally fitted to the hood/boot. Some cars obviously have more slack in the hood than others. I have now solved the problem. I bought some aeroscreens teeth.gif Hopefully someone else will be along with the definitive answer to your problem. My 1800 x/flow with 4-into-1 side exit managed 110 dB, but that was with the original 5" Caterham silencer that was 7 years old . Not surprising really. But since I've changed to a 6" Techcraft silencer it's gone down to 98 dB, athough it's on the way up again (102 at the last count) but at least it can be repacked fairly easily/cheaply.

Noger, You wont regret the change for one minute. I did the exact same change as you last year and have never looked back. The difference was amazing. Geoff, Thanks for that. I've just bought 4 anthracite wheels with centre caps at the stated price. Apparently they also have wheels in gold, white & one other colour (sorry can't remember). Jam, Try Jill Judd at Cover Up 01798 813389. JJ has just made some half doors for my 7, £70 inc P&P, and I'm very pleased with them. They have simply been made out of tonneau material and a 'slot' was made in the top for me to insert a length of plastic conduit to add extra support. They don't have the 'elbow bulge' like the Caterham ones but they are considerably cheaper. I believe Caterham charge £90 plus VAT per half door!
