  1. Saturday around 1.15pm. On a Q plate. Quick sighting as you came round a bend just before Spring Lane junction.
  2. Today at 10am heading South. I'm not too conversant with the M20 but we had just left the Channel Tunnel terminal and were heading North and I got a quick glance across the carriageway.
  3. Definitely Autosol for the exhaust. It's like a lot of things in life, the more effort and time you put in the greater the rewards. Also good for all chrome parts with less effort needed.
  4. Revilla You're asking about prices and reputation at CC Midlands. I have used them for my servicing for 3 years since I picked the car up new from there. I think they are excellent and reliable which you would expect from a specialist main dealer but I do think they are pricey. I paid £475 for my last service (2 year old car). They're going to MOT mine this year as well as the service so it will be more expensive than last year. McMillan in Hinckley is another alternative from where you're based. I haven't any dealings with them though. Clive.
  5. They're in my (1998) Caterham owners manual.
  6. Quoting AntonyH: These single seater ones (convex). Note the base they come with is a bolt-through thing and the bolt is way bigger than the stanchion bolts. So you also need pillar mounts - I got nice black ones from Europa Spares but I can't find them on their site now. Europa sold them with a correct-thread bolt, albeit that it was too long and needed a trim down so as to not hit the edge of the screen glass. I obtained my Racetech mirrors direct from the company in 2011 and black pillar mounts were an optional extra then. Edited by - Clive Faulkner on 8 Nov 2013 08:40:17
  7. The description of your garage sounds very similar to mine apart from it being detached and I use a dehumidifier judiciously. I covered the garage floor with industrial quality sheet vinyl and have found that it has cut down greatly on the problem of damp.
  8. Thanks Mike, I'd be grateful. Clive.
  9. One of the small black domed plastic threaded housings that holds the fixing straps onto the sidescreen has gone awol on my car. Before I order a new strap and fittings from Caterham I wondered whether anyone knows whether these fittings are readily available. I have read in other threads that they regularly come adrift and I'd rather buy a few locally than buy a complete new strap. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Clive.
  10. Maybe I'm OTT but I always use a new washer after any oil change. While buying one you can buy a dozen and they don't cost a lot.
  11. I haven't got an answer to your problem but I had a similar problem on my first Caterham, a Classic SE when it was only months old. The wipers just stopped working but I wasn't far from home. The next day I tried them again and they worked and I never had the problem again so, in the first instance just monitor them, maybe use some rainex for good measure and see how they go.
  12. When I was on 2 wheels and riding highly tuned 600s and the like I used to drain my tank after the winter after a one year old CBR600R refused to start for me and the dealer put it down to stale fuel. Since I've had my Caterham I've worried about this and usually try to fill it in early December and then try to use it a little through the winter and top up when I can. I've just read on PH forum of someone who's started his Caterham after 6 months in storage and it fired first time and settled down immediately. I'm interested to know what experience other owners have had regarding fuelling after a winter lay up?
  13. That was me returning from a service at CC Midlands. Sorry I didn't see you.
  14. My 1400 K has only done 2000 relatively easy miles and goes to 80psi on start up.
  15. Thanks Nigel. If that did the job for you then I'll get one of those. Cheers, Clive.
  16. This is a job I've got to do in the near future. I've never had to use a riveting tool before and when I googled it came up with many over a wide price range. Can anyone give me a clue to what I would need to fit the two poppers to the car above the wheel arch? Thanks, Clive.
  17. Approx 2.30pm today leaving the island heading towards Henley in Arden.
  18. Quoting Bradders: Hi, Welcome to the club If you've not had a Seven before the Tillets can seem a little tight, cause they are supposed to be to keep you in place with the aid of the harnesses. They might seem tight now but I reckon you'd sharp get used to them and then they become very comfy IMO. I don't now your build but I'm heavier and shorter than Halstock(I like pies, there I said it 😬) and I have no problems. I have a mate who is 6' 2" and 17 stone and he struggles a little to fit a bit. He really like pies 😬 I think you'd be fine but aparently the new leather seats are nice too. Nice reply Bradders and brings Paul Gascoigne to mind
  19. Always needs to be covering the plates but don't overfill as level rises when car's in use. Difficult to ascertain max level with Banner because of the black casing.
  20. Hi Weeman I wasn't criticising your post mate. We all have our own ways of dealing with the winter and our occasionally used cars. I may be a bit over the top starting mine as often as I do but when I had bikes, especially 4 stroke singles with 600cc plus engines, I have suffered problems after the winter lay-up. We learned through experience when unleaded fuel came in that it goes off over the winter and no one had told us. That's why I start mine up regularly. It's probably also because I'm getting on in years and came through the years of dodgy electrics etc but I always want to give my car every chance of coming through the winter unscathed.
  21. I can't understand why anyone would wonder about the reason for wanting to run the engine without driving it. I run mine up to temparature at least once per month through the winter as I always did with my motorbikes. I try to take it out occasionally if there's no salt down but the minimum of running it to temparature will minimise problems come the spring especially since the advent of unleaded fuel.
  22. On previous threads CTEK and Accumate appear to be the most popular choice. I use an Accumate as it's made by the same people as Optimate which I used on my bikes for years. No bad experience with either of those. Clive.
  23. Piers I use an Accumate and I had the lead fitted under the dash when the car was being built at Dartford (standard Banner battery). An auxiliary socket would do the job just as well. There will be no loss of electrolyte using a conditioner. It's been discussed in threads before and I can confirm that in the time I've had my car, although I check the level it has never gone down. Clive.
  24. Thanks Steve. Edited by - Clive Faulkner on 19 Sep 2012 14:47:34
