  1. AMMO, Fascinating reading. Sadly we live in a world of willy waving and, like a good lover is able to satisfy his woman no matter what his size, so good engines will outdrag a braggart's in a race. Comes down ultimately to results which do not lie. Interestingly one engine builder I know says his engines in the field tend to outperform those with higher quoted power outputs, especially factory 'approved' units from Cosworth. And he will build for less money too. Enjoy doing the important things in life
  2. Neil Kinnock does it for me every time 😬
  3. Tom New at New Techniques in Bishops Waltham services my car (xflow) and is a top hillclimber with a fearsome Judd V8 engined monster. If you need a rolling road with carb set up, Tom Airey at Cheriton is a well respected part of the vintage racing scene and knows his stuff.
  4. Looking to shift an autoclave circa 31kg in a 60x55x45cm package which is just over Parcelforce limits.
  5. 7 Workshop capable of bodge? Well yes as the seat repair failed the next day, so fact! Got the bolts out but one was almost seized so Copaslip definitely applied when re-fitting. Both frames had sheared and back rest was starting to split. Hadn't realised a new seat was £400+ from Caterham. Took it to Oxted and they will repair which has the advantage that the leather will have the same patina as its sister. I am looking forward to not finishing each journey with a numb ar$e and twisted back.
  6. GJT (will take the toolkit to impress my dad though) Cost will be £100+ dependent upon condition. I need the brackets welding as 7 Workshop made a complete bodge.
  7. My 7 is currently at my parents and I am visiting them shortly and will be removing seats for refurb at Oxted Trimming. I will need to bring tools with me and assume a Halfords 150 piece tool set will suffice? Do I need to bring anything else? Eg jack to get under car? It's a 1996 de-dion SS so assume it has S type leather seats with headrest (foam squab sitting on frame which has broken bracket with upper section)
  8. Sorry, she has decided it's an ipad mini she wants now ☹️ Best of luck shifting it!
  9. Sopris, Can I have first dibs please as this sounds ideal for my daughter but need to confirm over lunchtime please once I've spoken to her. Live in Hants so can collect Thanks, McB
  10. BRG with yellow stripe top down heading into rain storm you brave man!
  11. Hmmm...... all I know is that the front offside wheel squeals only when going round LH bends and that the pads were replaced only 5k miles or so ago. I will see if it only needs a re-grease up but what is the best test for establishing if it's shot with too much play? I am guessing jack up the car and with wheel still on, put your hands at a quarter to 3 and move from side to side?
  12. On a 1996 de-dion car, it is the offside front that has started squealing. What is procedure please and do I need any special tools?
  13. First was around 4.45pm on the roundabout at J10. You were in a dark blue 7 giving it the beans around the roundabout and I assume about to welly up the B road towards Morestead? I do like seeing 7s being driven spiritedly and you looked like you were having loads of fun *thumbup* . One of my favourite roads that all the way to Corhampton and Meonstoke. Second was a black and ally, looked like an SV with 2 up, heading north on the M3 through Winchester around 6pm. I wound down my window to wave in the silver Verso but you looked like you were on a mission.
  14. Dave, Hi mate how are you? Yes the servicing costs for some dentists equipment can get to the point where it is often better for them to junk an old unit in favour of a new one with warranty. So we are hoping we find a friendly dentist who is chucking one out! It's for a tatooist studio and I understand regular service with callibration is not required.
  15. Oliver, Thank you very much. It's for a friend's narrow boat, don't ask me how a petrol engine got in there though! Not sure what fuel he is running but will ask. How much do you want for it? McB

    Autoclave

Basic non-vacuum, possibly ex-dental or veterinary would suit.
  17. For a 1.6L on behalf of a friend
  18. Ah thank you for that advice. It is probably a quick tune up then as it's only a recent phenomonen.
  19. .......between 2200 and 2800 rpm. Pulls like a train from there on up and fine below from around 1500rpm. It's on twin 40 DCOEs and when I grasped the carbs they seemed to move wrt to engine. Could there be air bleeding in and the main carb fixing nuts need tightening I wonder? No setting changes of course.
  20. P reg blue coloured 7 with minilites and single branch exhaust this morning. We were a few bays down in the same model year BRG/yellow nose enjoying a fine full English. What a fine day to blat
  21. Do keep us posted on the Mk2 project. Keep it nice and reedy!
  22. This moring at 640 coming down Chestnut Avenue a yellow car with driver only. You lucky sod I was on my push bike coming out of a side road Are you living in the area?
  23. MacP, I have turned a very vivid shade of green! On Friday we drove out from Eze to Peille, then to Contes and onto Tourette-Levens, Castagnieres then Vence. I really wanted to go up to Luceram and pay a pilgrimage to the Col de Turini but Micaela was getting twitchy. We were in heaven nonetheless, although it was only in a Fiat 500 roof down all the way, but it really is amazing terrain. So what are you up to in Menton if I may ask?
  24. T7 ....? with full cage no spare CSR style cycle wings. *thumbup* Located outside the Chequers pub where we watched the boys wop ther French on their large TV set up.
