  1. Likely I will be travelling light from Worcester Park up to Wrexham area on morning of Sat May 20th if all goes to plan. As it's a mates vehicle if you can get gear to his place we can hopefully take oop north.
  2. I will be travelling by train from London to Cheshire on Sat morning. As I work 2 miles from Caterham I could collect small item(s) and leave with Nick Chan near Crewe if that helps anybody. No requests for rear axles, cylinder heads or engine blocks please. Regards, Nick
  3. Subject to viewing I am about to purchase an engine from fellow blatchatter but it needs transporting from Wrexham to Herts for The 7Workshop to transplant into my car w/c May 22nd. Will be viewing it this weekend still in car so won't be ready till after removal probably w/c May 15th. Anyone with car/trailer coming down that way around then? Will pay for petrol, cream teas, expenses etc plus donation to NTL. Any generous bods out there? Regards, Nick
  4. Driving thru Barnes village towards Putney about 12.30pm. GN04 ... was it? Was that before the rain came down?
  5. Wow, Steve your site is amazing *thumbup* . One small piece of info I forgot to mention however is that I have no garage or tools and have to entrust work to others. Hence the £2500 is an all in cost. I think the Zetec is a fantastic way to go but I figure getting someone else to do it for me will cost nearly double. Would that be about right? When I move to my pad in the country (or suburbia) I shall spec my garage and take on stuff like that, until then I sadly must outsource. Thanks, Nick
  6. I am about to have my 1700xflow rebuilt. Given I am on a limited budget, specifying forged pistons seems to me the most cost effective route as for an extra £500 over std rebuild I can address the engine's prime weak spot. All in I'm looking at £2-2.5k which should produce circa 145bhp, perhaps more as I have a competition ignition system. However if I went down the Zetec 160bhp route does anyone know what I would need to budget for in comparison, not just the engine but other mods to suit new powerplant? Also does the Zetec exhaust exit on RHS? Finally is it worth converting the xflow to unleaded?
  7. Following my post on ChitChat, can anyone recommend somewhere in western home counties for my crossflow rebuild. Preference also for forged piston route without other mods as I'm not a track day mentalist nor can I afford steel crank etc. Whoever does work needs to be able to do whole car as no facilities for engine removal etc where car is currently stored in Gerrards Cross. I'm budgetting around the £2k mark for this - does this sound reasonable? Nick
