  1. Dear Simon, Saving the Titanic is a little difficult as i can not hold my breath long enuf to go 2.5 miles onder sea level.Cool air is more dense than hot air, so it is surely not a bad thing to get some cooler air in to the motor. But if the air has to come in a tube from the front of the radiator up to the filter you will lose a lot of the effect you are aming for.Best is to make a box withs match one of the louverbloks in the bonnet as it is done for the heater.

  3. Dear Alex, You must be as quick as Flash Gordon to change 4 wiels in 2 min. cos at rally service with 3 men we did it in 3 min.We did not have a quick lift jack and we did torque checked the bolts. But if you really want to show off get some NASCAR jack i think it cost about1000£+ but serious Caterham advices to jack the car on the tow eye at the front. In my opinion the best thing to do is: thake a U profile (the whith of the chassis)welt on a bar at the bottem at the center and insert it in the hole in the jack witch you find if you thake out the dish on your jack and insert a piece of wood in the U profile so you gain a little in clearence.Set the axle stand under the engine mount with a piece of rubber in between.About the VX engine if you like torque go for the Cavalier 8v block bored uot to 2700cc in rally spec gives you about 220bhp and truck loads of torque but the exhaust is on the wrong side (we never had it touched in 3 seasons of club rallying. Elie.
  4. What about the old CR28 sport in A26 (verry soft)compound? looks like an old tyre but must have a verry good grip in wet and dry conditions.
  5. Ho can help me finding following springs:2 1/4" id front:8,5" long 310lb rear :12,5" long 140lb
  6. Does one of you guys ever cheked the oil temp and water temp gauge on his accuracy, i have found a 10 degree difference (over reading )on a VDO set up, so first check your gauge for accuracy with a thermometer.
  7. Dave, For filling up the oil level, use a oil can (with pump ) and extended hose so you do not have to take the boot floor out.
  8. Marius, I have shoehornd a Borg Warner gearbox in my live axle chassis because i heard all those rumers about breaking the j5 Ford box. This is a verry strong gearbox i now because i did rally service on a group n car with at least 300bhp+ and whe never had a problem. The only drawback is that it is VERRY CLOSE with in the sides of the tunnel, if and how it works i let you now next year when my car is finished,or if anybody out there have done this convertion please let my now.(the Borg Warner has double syncro on 1st and 2nd gear).
  9. It is still possible to buy a chassis for a Ford rear axle new from Caterham. You just have to specfied it as i did last year with a brand new starter kit( the car is still under construction but that is another long story ) so if anyone out there wants a new chassis for a Ford live axle just ask Caterham , or direct to Arch Motors as i did.
  10. Is there anyone out there who ever tried a Wilwood pedal assemblie in a 98'live axle sport chassis ?
  11. first check if the engine is connected to the chassis with a copper strip.then turn on the ignition key, pull out the bulbholder of the ignition light,brown/yellow is the alternator site when the engine is not turning this is negative. check whith a simple bulblight,(thake power direct from the + of the battry with one wire and hold the other wire against the brown/yellow the checkbulb must light up, if not there is a neg.problem on the alternator side, if it lights up see if there is power on the green wire, if not check the fuses or any connector for rust and use no corrode battery grease to prevent them rusting especially on the neg. connectors (if the engine is running both sides on your ignition light must be positive)and investing money in a heat resistent sleave for all electrics close to any heat is the best idea.

    Shocks

try Steve Parker if you want upgrade to hillclimb spec,or fast road (spax)at 01279 647261. The make of any shocks is not importent, but the expieriennce of working with a single make of shocks give you the advantage to now how the internal rating of the shocks must be,not depending on the price of the shocks.
  13. Dear Dave. a RS2000 gearbox is just the same as a normal 4speed gearbox exept that the ratios are closer together but the belhousing has on both sides a releasearm cover with may fool the chassis, but a 5 speed belhousing will fit to it further you need the spacer between gearbox and belhousing
