  1. Rushing out now.....but the following points are as follows Can adjust ride height independently, The shock absorber is working on a 1:1 basis so it works more efficiently. Steering has improved Ride quality improved and very adjustable. On rough surfaces the car will cope better Plus the points already mentioned above. Oh yes easier to clean the car 😬 Perhaps Len could explain in more depth if he reads this as have to go out urgently. PS In answer to question: Testing has been briliant. Right fist time and even better than expected Richard who was in France but is now in UK to sell his 7 and[blue] build his new Duratec 7 😬 😬 😬

    Must sell........

Arnie Took me a while to get it! Correction now made. Hope this is now correct. You will remind me when I am back in France to change it again 😳 Microlightman. Sorry already over budget on new car ☹️ good luck on selling it. Think everyone is in the same position at the moment. Perhaps if one person breaks the chain and buys a car it will have a knock on effect with everyone else who is waiting to sell 😬 Richard who was in France but is now in UK to sell his 7 and [blue] build his new Duratec 7 😬 😬 😬
  3. After the thread on Dinitrol vs Waxoyl I have made some calls. Dinitrol has 47% solids against 30.5% with Waxoil. Also they say NEVER thin. If you are thinning waxoil you will be applying so little it will not do the job. They say Waxoil is thickened with chemicals and that Dinitrol is not. Although it looks thinner the final covering once solvents have come off is better. Think someone has said that it also seeps further. They say three time more as it does not have the thickening agents added. Also they say do not apply thicker than 40 micron. Otherwise the solvents do not come out properly and the effectivness is reduced. I know everyone says put lots on but this is not necessarily the best way! Allowing for salesmanship and having never tried Dinitrol I pass this on for your comments but it does sound wrong to thin Waxoil like so many of you have. 4. Just visited Freestyle today. Thanks for all the help from Len and Gary and all their time spent discussing suspension, anti roll bars and shock absorbers (plus the coffee). Anyway ordered today their fantastic pushrod front suspension and a set for front and rears of the ally adjustable shock absorbers. If it is half as good as it looks I will be very happy. Certainly recommend this route for a new build or if you are thinking of changing your suspension. FIA / Hood

Nifty, Understand it is the same boot cover. You have to put the studs in and normally it is fitted when the hood frame is in place to get the best fit. Richard in France Build is just starting of my Duratec 7, painting this week 😬 😬 😬

    Must sell........

Had several enquiries today and the first question was why has the car not sold from a previous ad. Two reasons, firstly car has been in France until now and all the interest has come from potential owners but without the cash at the moment (ie: must sell their car, etc) It has NOT been due to my car as none of the enquiries have viewed yet. Now the car and I am in the UK. Keep the enquiries coming in. It is as good as I say. Richard in France Build is just starting of my Duratec 7, painting this week 😬 😬 😬

    dash

Hi Gary, Yes I am interested. Is it OK under the leather, not damaged? Surface like glue or scratches are not a problem but shape is important. Where abouts are you? What model did it come off? Best to e-mail me direct: easiclad@aol.com Thanks Richard in France Chassis and other starter kits arrive next Friday, my Duratec 7 is getting very close 😬 😬 😬
  14. Any discription of what they would look like? Will they still be the same shape, prefer an older looking round light. What would the weight difference be? Richard in France Delivery from Caterham in only TWO weeks, my Duratec 7 is getting very close 😬 😬 😬

    dash

Thanks but I don't want to use it for my car, just to play around with a new dash lay out (Get ride of the square switches big lights and just have toggles and LED's)and make a mould to form my own Carbon dash. Think Caterhams price is really stupid now. Last year it was ok but a 250% increase no way. Richard in France Delivery from Caterham in only TWO weeks, my Duratec 7 is getting very close 😬 😬 😬

    dash

Anyone in the South East with an old metal dash that they do not want after perhaps upgrading to a carbon one? Must be straight but condition of surface not important. Side pieces are also needed (the bits that join onto the dash). Richard in France Delivery from Caterham in only TWO weeks, my Duratec 7 is getting very close 😬 😬 😬
  17. Just had a ring around many companies re the flush filler cap. Roger King has kindly explained the problem: The fuel tank has been changed on later cars, it has a different funnel and tight bend. The tube is a different diameter too. The new filler hole only accepts lead free pump nozzles. With injection there are also many breathers and to change to another filler / cap is NOT simple. There was also a 4" and a 3" flush fit cap available but not sure if both made now. Many of the companies I spoke to are trying to find a solution but have not got their heads around it yet. So I had better re order the standard cap for the moment. Richard in France Delivery from Caterham in only TWO weeks, my Duratec 7 is getting very close 😬 😬 😬
  18. URGENT HELP PLEASE 😳 Just about to order a flush fitting injection cap from DT also Caterham are about to assemble my chassis but without filler cap. What do I need to order or tell Caterham. On a previous posting I was told the DT one fits no problem ☹️ Richard in France Delivery from Caterham in only TWO weeks, my Duratec 7 is getting very close 😬 😬 😬

    Duratec in a 7 ?

Fordy, I have just had a quick look at the "absolute minimum bits" you require and they come to something in the region of £2500 plus engine. That is not including ECU, wiring loom, water rail and many other bits that will be needed or require mods on. You could do some of them yourself if you need to keep cost down. If your serious I will e-mail you more info or chat to you. Richard in France Delivery from Caterham in only three weeks, my Duratec 7 is getting closer 😬 😬 😬

    Pushrod suspension

WARNING LEN 😳 One big problem with your new push rod system that has not been thought about. The Club will have to redesign it's logo 😳 ☹️ 😬 Richard in France Delivery from Caterham in only three weeks, my Duratec 7 is getting closer 😬 😬 😬 Edited by - Richard in France on 5 Feb 2003 21:40:09

    Pushrod suspension

Len, Great to hear you have been able to get some testing under way and all is sounding very promising. Can you not enlighten us as to what is transformed on the steering without giving away any secrets. Keep in touch with me as I will be needing to decide on the suspension within 3 weeks. Oh it is getting close now 😬 to delivery. Good luck Richard in France Delivery from Caterham in only three weeks, my Duratec 7 is getting closer 😬 😬 😬
  22. Have a look back a week or so as I did a posting on this subject. Word from Caterham is they cannot get one for the injection and will have to get one made specially! Why I do not know after the replies I got. Just Caterham not making enough profit compared to the cheap and nasty Rover one that eats keys 😳 Richard in France Arch build the chassis this week, delivery from Caterham in four weeks, my Duratec 7 is getting closer 😬
  23. Well thanks to you all for your advice, especially Chris for the diagram. I will look at it later. So I gather I am not the first to change to toggles and leds or the only one who thinks the Caterham dash lights and switches are c..p 😳 What connectors have any of you chosen, spade, screw, solder for the switches and led's? Can you just swap the switches over and use the same connectors, presuming the position is the same? Or is there some additional Caterham added problem Richard in France Arch build the chassis this week, delivery from Caterham in four weeks, my Duratec 7 is getting closer 😬
  24. Just in case anyone has missed the posting a few weeks ago, a group of us are intending to get a hood made by Oxted Trimmers to fit the std se7en with the tall FIA roll bar. Spoke to MD of Oxted and really need a few more serious people to get the price down to nearly the same as Caterhams std roof price. His problem is redesigning the roof to look correct and to supply the mod for the roof frame. This is expensive and hence we need more members to make this worth his time. THIS IS GOING TO BE A SPECIAL PRICED ROOF FOR A GROUP ORDER and not going to be the same price if purchased later. (I am not intending to make anything, just getting the interest, each order will be direct with Oxted) Richard in France Arch build the chassis this week, delivery from Caterham in four weeks, my Duratec 7 is getting closer 😬
