  1. Had similar problem a few months ago. Can't remember what I used as a drift but had to use something that allowed me to get out from under the wheel arch and give it a decent "tap". Worked back and forth from each side and turned and used Plusgas. Was just slight corrosion that caused it to bind.
  2. #9 Happened to me twice. Once with a Morris 1000 which led to me resolving the same issue with my father in law to be's one day old Austin Princess. He was so impressed with my instant diagnosis that he welcomed me marrying his daughter. Also lay in the boot of his brand new Rover 2600 to diagnose slack suspension bolts. Note BL/Rover theme.
  3. Could it be a blocked air bleed into the fuel tank? If you stop when yo have a problem and immediately remove the filler cap, is there an inrush of air?
  4. Andrew, what mileage has the car done? I had to take them off recently to drop the diff to allow me to get my failed prop shaft refurbed. Unfortunately couldn't get the bottom bolts out the dampers as they were seized so had to leave them attached to the dampers and disconnect the other screws/bolts. Clevis looked ok.
  5. Are you David Hamilton that was at school with me? Drop me a private mail and we could discuss how to check the alignment.
  6. Definitely open spanner to ensure against jamming. Just needs a bit more patience.
  7. #28. Billy I answered in #15.
  8. It's a car, treat as suggested before and then use it an don't worry.
  9. Billy, I answered in #15: "I used Dinitrol 3125 but I'm sure any of them would do. "
  10. Dinitrol and ACF 50 aren't trying to do the same thing. Dinitrol is a one off treatment (perhaps with annual touch up on any damaged areas. ACF is a thin product which should be applied once or twice a year particularly to stop galvanic corrosion.
  11. I used Dinitrol 3125 but I'm sure any of them would do.
  12. Just keep it off the brakes. Can be used everywhere else. Check YouTube for bikers using it.
  13. Having done that, don't worry about the car getting wet, just drive it.
  14. Por15 and Dinitrol with an annual check and touch up then spray with ACF50 once a year. Corrosion on the aluminium itself isn't really an issue it's where its joined to steel chassis rails that you should check. As mentioned, the grot traps between the foot wells and the chassis rails at the back corner each side of the engine bay can collect mud, stones, etc. and you should try to clean them out and make sure it's treated with Dinitrol and I also spray with ACF50. Winter is a good time to get the car onto axle stands and give it a once over for these and any other obvious issues.
  15. Did you have trouble getting it out? It is certainly awkward and heavy to get in but does go. Best thing is stop for a coffee and then have another go.
  16. The mesh can be fitted in front of or behind the 7.
  17. Will see what my friendly tester does. He currently still thinks my 2008 CSR is visible smoke only! Don't know how the system allows him to do this but haven't questioned it although the car should pass.
  18. Balance it on a trolley jack, sitting at 45 deg with the propshaft flange raised. Gradually lift the trolley jack while feeding the flange over the chassis crossmember (appropriately protected). As you raise it you can level it off. I think I loosely fitted the two lower bolts and then the long top bolt with a long screwdriver inserted and wiggled to get the bolt in. Probably a lot easier if you didn't have to do it on your own on your back in about 2 ft space. You'll get it eventually, just before you lose the power of your arms. What bit are you struggling with? I found getting it off far harder, getting the suspension bolts off, the drive shafts out and, especially, the long top bolt out.
  19. Need to put prop shaft flange up first (at least I've never tried it the other way but can't think there would be clearance)
  20. I use black pvc electrical tape on the suspension arms and renew every year or two. Stops stone chips.
  21. I think the exhaust emissions from a two stroke might be the killer but I may be wrong. Certainly on original bike engines that needed oil in the fuel.
  22. Will the folded rolled up roof fit behind a seat?
  23. As I currently have the diff out of my car, I can confirm my 2008 CSR260 has a Quaife fitted. Seems like the sensible choice for a primarily road based car with no additional maintenance requirements - as opposed to the prop shaft which has grease nipples but was boxed in with a plate and 32 rivets.
  24. After speaking to Road & Race about clunking when manuevering with the Titan they had just installed, they said I should add a small tube of friction modifier to the oil. Whether it improved the life of the lsd I can't comment as sold the car but it did cure the low speed noise.
