  1. Thanks Chris. Did think 15th Feb was a long way off! Dave
  2. Shows how long since I last went that I'd forgotten you're the AR 😳. See you on 15th Feb. Dave
  3. Richard They're yours. You go to the Kentish Weald meet don't you? If you're going to the next one and you're not in a rush for them I'll get myself to the next meet and bring them with me. Dave
  4. Hi I've got a pair of standard front calipers which I removed from my 1998 supersport earlier last year when I upgraded to 4 pots. They'd dome c. 20k miles. They're cluttering my garage and need to go - free for collection (preferred) or cover postage (they're quite heavy!). I did give them a clean but the castings are slightly discoloured. Come with a pair of flexi hoses. I live just outside East Grinstead and work in Crawley most days (or Tunbridge Wells generally 1 day each week). 6. Arnie I've got lightweight flywheel and ap clutch in mine - which I fitted at the same time I fitted the dry sump setup. Still running the standard clutch pedal which the car came with, and it's been fine. If you want to have a look, give me a call - I'm around tomorrow. Dave
  7. Just to help your ad, do you mean block or bottom end? You don't mention no crank / conrods / pistons? Dave
  8. Martin Mine was the original m/c - 14 years old but it had only done just under 20k miles. Dave
  9. Martin If you want a replacement standard m/c, I recently removed mine to replace it with a race m/c. It's now sitting in my garage, so I'd let it go for £25 if you're interested. I'm just outside East Grinstead. Dave
  10. Instructions just sent to you Mark. Dave
  11. Mark I've got a scan of the instructions caterham supplied when I bought their dry sump system about 6 years ago - send me your email address and I'll ping them over to you. Dave
  12. Hmmm. Thanks - though not the answer I was hoping for! I'll try putting the handbrake (partially) on and see if that eliminates the dead travel - that should prove if that's my problem or not. I don't think there's air in the system as after the initial dead travel the pedal is nice and firm - no sponginess at all. Dave
  13. I've recently uprated my brakes with Wilwood 4 pots at the front and an AP racing master cylinder, and Mintex 1144 all round. The stopping power is now amazing compared to before (standard brakes with 1144s), but there's more dead pedal travel than I'd like. Don't think it's pad "knock off" as the dead travel remains if I sit in the car stationary and repeatedly press the pedal. I have a vague recollection of reading on here that the dead travel can be reduced using the linkage - but can't find anything now! Adusting the length of the linkage simply moves the position of the pedal rest position - so can someone enlighten me on how to reduce the dead travel? Thanks Dave Edited by - Dave McCulloch on 18 Apr 2012 10:48:03
  14. 2 sets now then Chris - you best get hooning to wear them out! Dave
  15. Chris Just seen your post. i've got a set of the larger 1144s which I took off the car a couple of weeks ago. They've probably only done 1,500 miles - loads of material left on them. You're welcome to have them if you can collect from Lingfield. Give me a call if interested.. Dave Edited by - Dave McCulloch on 6 Apr 2012 10:48:49 Edited by - Dave McCulloch on 7 Apr 2012 18:46:15
  16. Dived out to the garage late last night to check if the cosworth space saver fits - it does, and it has a nice big centre hole which the large sockets fits through easily! So hopefully all now sorted. Why didn't I think of that earlier?! Thanks Dave
  17. The problem with refitting the wheel is that the socket won't go through the centre hole in the wheels I have. I have had one idea which is to see if the space saver off my escort cosworth will fit - I know the stud pattern is ford but no idea if the cosworth pattern is the same. Been out all day today, so will try tomorrow night. Dave
  18. Unfortunately I can't wedge a breaker bar against the studs as it then gets in the way of getting the socket on the hub nut. I guess I could remove the de dion ear complete with half shaft, but I'll still have the problem of tightening the nut up again. I used to have prisoner alloys, and the socket would fit through the centre hole in the wheel so I could have the car on the ground, wheels chocked and brakes on to torque the nut up. However, I've sold the prisoners and replaced them with minilites, and the socket doesn't fit through the centre hole. Dave
  19. I'm part way through upgrading my brakes, and have just found my rear disks are a bit worn. I've got a spare pair of disks but now need to remove the rear hubs. As the car is in pieces with no rear brakes fitted, I need a tool to hold the rear hub whilst I undo the rear hub nut. Don't suppose anyone near East Grinstead has one I could borrow? Thanks Dave
  20. Made a bit more progress fitting my new wilwood front brakes today - made up a pair of new braided brake lines and fitted them. The wilwoods have a 1/8 NPT 27 fitting, which I understand is a taper thread. I've not used PTFE tape or anything similar, and have guessed hiw tight to tighten thr fitting. I'm a bit scared of over-tightening it as the caliper body is only aluminium. Any suggestions? Or is it just a case of bleed the brakes and keep an eye for any leak, indicating it needs nipping up a bit tighter? Thanks Dave
  21. Geoff Form for Brands GP day in May in the post today . Dave
  22. Thanks all - I'll be ordering a set from svc. Dave
  23. What are your thoughts on the quality difference between svc and caterham for 5 3/4" black headlights? The svc ones are £115 per pair, whereas the caterham ones are £105 each. Are the caterham ones worth the extra? Or as an alternative, what about seven speed - £170 per pair? Thanks Dave
