  1. Lotus manual and Triumph manuals state EP90 to be used.
  2. "Then the bit I'm most concerned about, fitting the wheel holding bolt, sleeve assembly." Early cars didn't have the central fixing for the spare wheel, the wheel was/is secured with a strap. (The strap also retains the luggage carrier if used) The wire passing through a stud hole is a lock.
  3. I use one of these: It's available from http://www.stephenslube.co.uk/wanner_lubrication.asp and it's model number 31963. Used it for a good few years now and it's really easy - just keep pushing aginst the nipple.
  4. You're quite right, identical as per the Europa. The two UK Europa specialists may be able to help you, particularly Richard Winter at Banks. (possibly with original pressed steel parts as the 'upgrade' path is usually to the tubular versions...) http://www.banks-europa.co.uk/index.php http://www.spydercars.co.uk/ rgds, david
  5. Sorry but can't resist passing on the name of the people that I used for many of my engineering years http://www.thenippleshop.co.uk/ They have a great catalogue so may have any part that may be required in the future.
  6. B. hell, I'll never keep up!! .... I'd better retire from our blats!! Great news on the PPI 'return'. and.... my lips are sealed :-)
  7. Already!!? Must have been a slow run back from last sunday's Haynes museum breakfast meet
  8. "but the reflectors are 1950s era and don't have the depth to match a modern projector headlight with a conventional bulb." You can easily change the reflectors to the later 'crystal' type - massive improvement as the reflector is the rear of the 'lens'. Then use whatever the best bulb that you feel is right. I use these on my 7 and Europa. (both no problems with MOT's) http://www.powerfuluk.com/products/other-other-vehicle-lights-headlights---crystal/crystal-halogen-headlight-conversion-bedford-(pair).html Really expensive at £29 a pair!!
  9. Quoting inbraceuk: Hi all please can anyone help I have a 1985 S3 1700 Xflow supersprint with a 4 speed box and would love to change it to a 5 speed one I have been told its possible and that it is not possible to do Has anyone done this and is there a kit available from anywhere? Any info would be greatly appreciated Kind regards Paul BM me and I'll send you the details of the swap that I did.
  10. Nigel, I am using an Exide Ultra 45AH Type ET2 but as I have never bothered about weight in my old beast it may be a little large for you?
  11. Should work - unless you are really doing something radical! (that's how I made mine back in the early 80's and it's still fine today...)
  12. Looking at changing my Dunnell 2.0L Zetec Silver top to a 2.0L Black top. Raceline can supply a crated motor at reasonable cost but what other bits will need to be costed as I understand some of the Dunnell parts will need to be replaced. Has anybody done this 'conversion'? What's the preferred ECU nowadays? (my Silver top runs the basic Dunnell Clubman 2D ECU) As always, any helpful suggestions gratefully received
  13. Find an old Triumph Herald. The handbrake will require bending.
  14. Twin throttle cables is an excellent modification to do. When I had the single cable throttle fitted on my 7 the cable broke just as I was half way through an overtake of a few cars on the Weymouth coast road. As luck would have it I was able to coast into the only gate entrance on that stretch of road to safety. Twin throttle system quickly fitted. Pics here:Rear Side Top It's not pretty as my car is high mileage and this mod has been operating perfectly for 20+ years. The unit that slips over the pedal lever is basically a tube with a 'U' channel welded to it.
  15. I feel your grief - our Golden died 3 years ago aged 14½, still miss her and have been trying to make our minds up re getting another ever since but have been afraid to make that step ☹️ I hope that you are successful in finding one soon. Just by the bye, a great many of the Goldens locally have come from various rescue centres.
  16. Quoting daz00004: Flasher relay, the 3 pin unit that pushes into the fuse box (on the side), i bought this one here, but the unit David linked to has the - and + on different pins? I checked the orientation with my 1989 wiring diagram which is why I selected the one I did and yes, flashing is 70 pps.
  17. Probably but I've not checked. The car passed it's MOT a month or so ago so...
  18. I use these bulbs Indicator Bulbs and simply replaced the existing flasher relay with this one Flasher Relay It all works fine with the only noticable difference that the flasher speed is a little slower than standard.
  19. This is the info that I have on file for my 'Jimmy the Fish' Zetec conversion... Cooling Submarine: prob. Caterham Vauxhall (3 outlet) Submarine to Expansion Vessel:Ford Hos6015442-7-EKHM80 (Obsolete Capri Heater) Engine Block (Front) to Submarine: Ford Corsair V4 1965-on #695 Top (Water Pump) Submarine to Bottom Radiator: Caterham Ford X-Flow (Cut to Suit) If you cannot get the Caterham Ford X-flow item and cut it into the various angled pieces, I would have thought a Motor Factors might allow a rummage thro' their old bins?
  20. Only just seen this. Just a thought but if you remove both heater hoses and join them (use eg. a piece of copper pipe) this will bypass the heater. Run the car gently and see if you have the continued problem. Pretty sure that if you do then it would indeed point towards HG. If not then a prob with the heater. Assuming of course that modern Caterham cooling systems are not dissimilar to my old truck. Also assuming that someone else hasn't already mentioned the above...
  21. espied a green Caterham passing up thro' Milton Abbas at lunchtime today. I saw it slow down to gander at my 7 which was parked up. Unfortunately I was at the top of the garden and can't whistle
  22. Ummm, wouldn't go that far 😬
