  1. S3 bonnet exactly as per https://caterhamparts.co.uk/bonnets/3061-bonnet-s3-rover-vauxhall.html still in blue wrapper, never fitted but not required. new price £235.87 from CC - £150 collected, its delicate obviously. Located in Wiltshire near castle Combe. However will be at a number of sprints
  2. Phlea. If these aren’t sold can I take them on behalf of a friend. regards dan
  3. Matt. The offer stands for a shared drive in my car. I May have found a couple of horses hopefully! cam timing was out.. you can arrive and drive.

    Thanks

Chris/ matt you are most welcome to share a drive if you don’t sort the gremlins. Dan
  5. Malcolm. it May be worth checking if there is a time limit on this before you need to collect further signatures to renew as Nat A Speed. i need to renew next year from Speed to Race Nat A to retain my race license as it is time limited before you need to go back through the ARDS test again. It may be similar for other license grades.
  6. I shall have a definite answer by tomorrow.. we are currently deep cleaning the head as someone thought it a wonderful idea to glass bead blast the bloody head- with valves etc still in bloody place.. GRrrrrrrrrrrrrrr botton end thus far appears- ok., evidence of HGF.. however as i’m Replacing everything then i’m Not as concerned. I have a garage full of MGF gearbox, VVC parts, heads and general debris from stripping what appears to be the engine cut out of the mgf with most parts left attached. Bottom end is sat outside of the garage on engine stand but now clean. i shall now have a BBQ before sean and I attack the head with petrol to remove all bloody glass debris.
  7. Oi.. I am trying to get an engine built here! its fighting me though..

    Kaboom...

Michael. thank you for the kind words.. i’m Unconvinced on whether people are that keen on offers however!! I shall know by Sunday whether the old ‘shed’ is going to limp out of the garage or not.. after that then i’m Open to offers from anyone!!

    Kaboom...

Thanks Grahame. A new head is being collected by my friend Sean on Saturday on his way over with our god daughter and family for a weekend of R&R in my garage.. VVC engine i’m Going to pick up Saturday morning. Headset is here, as is new spigot bearing and CRB. Just need to get new cambelt. Then- we shall commence with creation of ‘frankinengine’ with my cams going in the standard head, mated to the new block. Hopefully when apart it won’t be too horrific with liner heights etc. The desire is to have an operational engine by Sunday night and a VVC head to play about with in creation of something for the future. Hopefully the engine will last, but we shall see! Mine is currently resting in the car but i’ll Get the rest out Friday night when I get back from 2 days training in Manchester on how to be a good boy working on the railway.. if so, and it doesn’t make nasty noises in the garage and feels ok on a road test.. you may see Matt and I at Curborough. Optimistic perhaps.. but that’s the goal. i May cut the head into pieces as well as remove the damaged piston, might be a nice trophy eh Chris? Dan
  10. Caterham FIA bar and petty strut (Single diagonal) to suit Imperial Chassis S3 Caterham. It may fit a metric chassis - however I cannot confirm. Also has a removable headrest which I will throw in. Colour - black, it's used but never 'been used' so to speak. Standard height - not the tall FIA Bar. Ideal for L7Club trackdays and Petty strut makes it eligible for sprinting! £175 collected from Chippenham wilts.
  11. For sale my set of Compomotive CXR's The fronts are 13x6" and almost unmarked - some minor chips from use. Will check offsets but I think ET24. The rears are 13x8" and one has a minor mark on the inside face of the rim due to the de-dion ear rubbing. I could remove / repaint however have an engine to build following it grenading! Rear offset I will confirm - I calculated the offset to try to fill the rear arch as much as possible. All 4 wheels come with Compomotive Centre Caps (Chrome finish) Wheels are Satin Black. All are shod with Avon ZZS tyres - 185 fronts 215 rears. These are unusable other than for hooning or donuts. Located near Chippenham Wilts Asking £350

    Kaboom...

Well..after a great morning of competition after the disaster at Loton my car finally cried enough. 7000rpm in 4th at the end of Lavant straight just before braking into Woodcote, video showing me just over a second up on my previous time Mr valve decided that he wanted to go exploring. He was met with some force by mr piston. Thanks to all who loaned tools and sympathy on Saturday. Engine was torn apart this afternoon to reveal this... I think it’s safe to say it’s done. Head is scrap. Liner cracked I think through the piston expanding as it hit the valve. This flooded the cylinder. I presume that the rod attached to the ‘slightly Used piston’ is also dead. For those wanting to see my engine and it’s special internals..err..they are there.. it’s fairly ugly. however replacement head has been bought (good old eBay) and looking at replacement block currently to see the year out. I can’t see it being done for Curborough or blyton but will hopefully be done sometime this year. The pics below
  13. Thanks Andy... its a little more terminal than that... Great photos and a good day, despite the demise of the engine
  14. Malcolm.. Send me your address and I will post the passes we had to you. dan
  15. Paul. I should have one or possibly 2 spare passes if you need them dan
  16. Makcolm not checked or changed ECU, I don’t have a spare. If you could send yours it would be a great help. I’ve ordered new sensors for TPS, Crank, ECU, water temp, spark plugs and new leads. I’ll re- check cam timing again (1.5mm inlet, 1.25mm exhaust) at TDC ( I don’t have an imperial dial gauge) reset everything and see how it goes when the parts arrive. Battery is on trickle charge. From there.. who knows
  17. I shall do further research and potentially adjust Graham
  18. Jump leads still attached. Havent had time to check voltage.. revs rise then die as you open throttle
  19. No lambda Mark.. pre cat on 93 car. Will try water temp sender
  20. following Matts spin at Rockingham the car was running incredibly roughly. I aborted my final run and bought the car home. k-series 1800 supersport-EU1- stepper motor TB so very early car. at home the symptoms were: would start but wouldn’t idle it was running incredibly rich - I couldn’t be in the garage with it running plugs sooty. To start checking the fault i’ve Gone through the following i’ve started With CAM timing- set that to 150thou inlet, 125 exhaust as per DVA’s recommendation. Checked compression- all roughly the same. changed the TB for a spare and cleaned the old one. removed injectors checked wiring continuity on all wiring / sensors back to the ECU - only the inlet vacuum (green plug) didn’t give me continuity- I will address that. Put in more fuel checked fuel pump primes, checked injectors all operate with engine turning over. starting- with starter cables attached to my road car- ensuring decent voltage the car starts, but won’t rev and dies after 5-10 seconds. I’ve tried swapping TB’s back. Anyone have any ideas on what to check next? I’m more than a little stuck. Dan

  22. Great video Shaun.. i reckon you should try class 3
  23. I’ve never changed the pressures much across tyre types. However the pressures will be personal to your set up and driving style. Start with the same pressures and vary it as you move on. Tomorrow - tyre pressures will make little/ no difference. Rockingham is low grip anyhow.. I’ll be starting at 17-18psi all round and see how it goes.
  24. I recall there being toilets and showers, can’t remember where in the circuit.. However as racing there used to be all weekend facilities may be more limited for a sprint over 1 day .
  25. Simon Might be worth trying to get hold of Graham Wardell. He’s showing as entered and lives I think in Suffolk therefore would probably be heading along the A14. I don’t recall him being particularly active online.. so I guess a call might be the best way to at least ask.. Dan
