Graham Let me check my spares - I may have one but won't be able to check immediately. If I have I'll bring one along anyhow.
  2. Taking the point noted however Graham - when walking up and down the pitlane at Anglesey it's always notable that some garages have single occupancy or at most 2 cars contained therein and that toward the far end of the garage complex at least 1 has been empty. The issues seems to lay with other championships and competitors being reluctant to share space.....
  3. Ed. I've run for years with no sump foam. As noted, just get a gasket from Dave Gemzoe, they already have the alteration done. It's just over 7 litres in a k with Apollo, however as noted the Apollo tank can be quite fragile. I ensure I regularly crack open the fixing slightly so it stays relatively free. I also run mine of the Eurocarparts fully synth oil. It gets changed regularly so I've never seen any point in using Mobil1 or expensive oils with no noticeable detriment and always change at at least once a year.
  4. There's a plug behind the right rear wheel, follow the lead out of the pump and you'll find it.
  5. So, you need to use a multimeter to check continuity of the wire starting at the MRF`u and working back. have you tried to power up the pump yet using a 12v supply?
  6. I seal mine back up with silicon after so it's always easy to pull back apart.
  7. Do a search. But basically use a Stanley knife around the edge of the cheese block and the mounting face to break the seal.
  8. Right, then you need to check continuity from the fuse to the grey engine loom plug, then from the grey engine loom plug to the MRFU.. I would suspect that the fuel pump relay in the MRFU could be the culprit. You can carefully prise them apart and then check the small relays.
  9. I'd like a space if there's one available.
  10. Enterered.. depending on work may be my 1st event of the year.
  11. Chris I'd leave it in - if a scrutineer argues it needs to be compliant then all you have to do is unscrew/ remove the extinguisher itself not the associated plumbing.
  12. I've never run with a fire extinguisher in Sprints as it's always been a recommendation rather than mandated. However - check in the blue book whether it noted that 'if fitted' it needs to be in date and operational - I've not checked..
  13. Guy.. I'd have a look at Schroth harnesses.. they are the best I've found for a Caterham and worked well with a tillett. they also do Caterham specific harnesses ie bolt through rather than eyelet.
  14. There are loads of nice places to stay on the island. Airbnb is a good start. Book soon as it will be tourist season and this year the island was very busy. Avoid Holyhead.. but the whole island is probably 30min from the circuit ish. Treaddur bay and that area are very popular but look also at Amlwch, Benllech or even Red Whaf bay. I live in Pentraeth and that's 25min from the cicuit, lots of campsites but no hotels here.
  15. Same here Dave.. I still need to rack up some miles and then do some set up and get seat/ track time as I haven't driven anything in anger since 2019.
  16. Tony - the only bits left of the original car now at a guess are: De-dion tube, Rear Callipers, radius arms (not bushes), steering UJ and rod, clutch pedal, 'some' of the wiring loom, bellhousing, propshaft (not UJ's), header tank... I think that's about it...
  17. I'm well over 200k - close to 250k at a guess.. I bought it on 50k and ran it for 4-5 years as my company car doing 30-40k per annum hence the mileag. At that point I started to compete in it and use it less - probably 10k per annum driving it to/ from sprints, at weekends and track days etc for 3-4 years. At that point it was pretty reliable. Since around 2015 when I rebuilt the car I've used it fairly exclusively for sprints covering minimal mileage - it's at this point the reliability dropped! I've rebuilt the car/ chassis/ engine over the last couple of years to bring it finally back to as close to new as I can and hope it will last another good period. It is/ was and will be used in all weathers, never a garage queen... Maintenance when it's used regularly is cheaper than a normal road car being honest.
  18. There is the argument in class 3 that 185 front and rear work best as the gearing is better and arguably the smaller width will generate hear across the tyre quicker.. i personally will stick with 185 front and 215 rear and work the fronts really hard at the start of a sprint
  19. Sean.. how much grip do you need ? if you have the same as others in class why would you need more? You have the talent to drive round this. failing that, drive round the ARB by removing? Your dampers can more than compensate. ZZR ultimately have more grip, however in my opinion in anything but dry conditions the ZZS are probably the slightly better tyre overall given that ZZR from cold are dreadful and we don't often have a hill long enough to generate significant heat across the tyre with the 1B compounds . I'd go with the one that moves more across the tread blocks thus generating heat...
  20. No futher comments from me - the suggested changes appear eminently sensible. Class 6 - given no-one is likely in the near future to enter would it be worthwhile parking this class and/ or running as an invited class only? If there were sufficient interest the class could be resurrected. Same with Class 1 for the 3 cylinder cars - if sufficient interest was gained from owners - could there be an invitation class that could be standalone in future years. I only ask this as a 120bhp academy car will always have an advantage over the Suzuki 3 cyl cars - perhaps run/ advertise this class only at the 2 club events and see whether we could tempt owners to have a go at competing. I do recall in 2005, my first year in the championship there was a rolling road at Curborough for some reason and someone paid for my car to go on the rollers to verify it's power output.... No one ever owned up.
  21. Dave, try SELOC, they are more likely to have a set appear
  22. Sorry to hear that Geoff. The island appears to still be fairly busy. About 30min (18 miles) from the circuit is a nice looking (i haven't been in) restaurant called the Boathouse at Red Wharf Bay near Pentraeth. When I just looked they had reservations. There's a nice pub also just along the quay also - I have been there, and confirm they sell Landlord on draught. I'd argue our side is the prettier side of the island ;-)
  23. why thank you Simon.. makes me feel appreciated....
  24. Some advice all.... petrol on the island is still in fairly short supply at present. Tesco filling station at Bangor was closed a couple of days ago. Hopefully things will improve by the weekend, however be mindful of this. Secondly - we've got forecasts of heavy winds and rain at the weekend, therefore don't plan for shorts and t-shirts ;-). Hopefully the rain will pass and drop on Snowdonia however. If it does I'll pop over! Can't see it being Caterham weather though!
