    Connector?

don't know what they're called but I think you'll get them from Polevolt.

    SV07 KAR

Spotted Friday morning at the Water Works roundabout (@10.35). You looked like you were having fun, 😬 whilst Iwas on my way to work ☹️ Be lucky!! Martin
  3. Hi Alan, On our CSR the F/N/S and R/O/S plug is 31mm and a socket fits on both. The R/N/S is 30mm ( ) and a socket fits on that okay as well. When I first undid these I was surprised by how tight they are and how they suddenly become very loose, (I hope that makes sense). You will drain very little oil from the rear most drains having emptied the F/N/S drain. I also use a Pela pump to empty the oil from the swirl tower. Why do you need a new plug and why do you think the plug has been fitted with loctite? Just being nosey 😬

    Mapping

Hi Alan, sorry I missed your call. Glad the remap was a success. I guess you learned plenty from Steve and Steve about CSR's and CC's preference for 'one size fits all' mapping. Did you make any alterations to the RB return springs or was it unnecessary? I bet it feels like you've now owned two different CSR's 😬

Chris only your second post in seven years. Thought it might have been you who Badbob had spotted and was just about to post on your behalf.
  6. Quoting Glasgow: From the pic it looks like it is made of a similar fabrics of the half hood. Would this scratch the bonnet paint with the effect of wind? The material is not the same as that of the halfhood. We've used ours extensively in both the wet and the dry (in fact I can't remember when we last parked our car without fitting the cover) and there are no signs of damage to the paintwork. With regard to it being my idea, I have to admit that it was a friends idea, I merely suggested it to to Nick and Jill. Be lucky!! Martin
  7. ##07 KAR . BRG with yellow noseband and Stripe. You and your passenger looked unimpressed with my Cab 😬 Be lucky!! Martin
  8. I don't know what the carmichael technique is, but there's no technique to draining and refilling the coolant on a Duratec. Simply empty via the radiator drain plug and refill via the expansion tank.
  9. If it falls through then it hasn't been fitted properly 😬
  10. -you should be embarrassed. the trouble is, Jerry, they are totally unashamed. When I bought my first Se7en I made the mistake of driving it out of the showroom when I knew damn well that they'd made a pigs ear of the PDI. I spent the first 6 months of ownership trying to get CC to take responsibility for the faults with my car. During my time in this club I can't remember how many times I've read threads similar to this one. I can understand any company not being perfect and can forgive any company making mistakes but the way CC abuse the loyalty of their customers and insult their intelligence, is unconscionable. Brilliant product (eventually) but a dreadful company. I'll live with the fact that that my thoughts won't be popular

    Which engine?

I'm certainly no expert but I would imagine that: the Duratec will deliver more power, cost more and weigh more. It's been widely used in motor-sport and has a reputation for being robust. Not that the Sigma isn't robust. I've been lucky enough to have had Sigma and Duratec powered sevens and I've a high regard for both engines, mind you I must stress that I'm no racing driver, neither am I an engineer. I agree with Paul Jacobs, it would be an easier question to answer if we knew the reasons behind the O/P

    Which engine?

Which engine is best for all round power an capability As far as power is concerned the answer is a matter of fact; there are very many K's making well in excess of 200BHP and relatively few Sigmas any where near that figure. As far as capability..... well I simply don't know how one would definitively measure one engines 'Capability' against that of another. Despite the fact that there are fewer people tuning Sigmas than there are tuning K's, I think (and this is only me extrapolating from the experience of others) that history is going to be kinder to the Sigma than it has been to the K. A good indicator (for me at least) is the number of sprinters/hillclimbers who are binning the K for either Ford or Busa's. Now, these guys really know what they're talking about. It might be worth getting their thoughts. I thought GJT's comments were very constructive. It's not often on this forum that people don't simply 'blindly defend' their own cars. Alastair, I'm curious (nosey 😬) about why you ask the question.
  13. *arrowup* 😬 . Hi Paul YHM. Edited by - weeman on 5 Mar 2013 11:40:42
  14. Has anyone done this? Any reason why not to try on a non-track car? I drilled 2x 2mm holes to accommodate self tappers to fix the light to the underside of the rollover bar and 1x 6mm hole to feed the wire into. If these three holes significantly affect the strength of the rollover bar then it must have been close to useless to start with. I chose to fix the light to the underside of the R/bar as I wasn't convinced that the light could have be seen with a half hood on if I'd fitted it anywhere else on the R/bar. Nothing more than MHO of course. Edited by - weeman on 3 Mar 2013 16:23:31 Edited by - weeman on 4 Mar 2013 16:43:26
  15. Is there a sealing channel on the SBFS one not on ours Alan, but ours is a Mk1, so getting on a bit now.
  16. Alan, sorry to be dumb, is the product from Thundersports the exact same item as from Oxted and is there a price differential between Oxted, CC and Thundersports ? oh, and how are you getting on with that new toy of yours
  17. Kenny, Caterham Cars were selling SBFS stuff but it appears not any more. Just looked on the CC site and it seems that the Half Hoods for sale there are the ones from Oxted. Don't know if there's a difference in the price? Spoke to Jill at SBFS about a year ago on this very subject and I got the feeling that the SBFS/CC relationship wasn't exactly harmonious. Perhaps they've gone their seperate ways. ETA that a closer look at CC site and they have what appear to be SBFS boot bags. I may have been wrong about them selling half hoods- sorry to mislead Edited by - weeman on 18 Feb 2013 17:13:57
  18. In short you have two hood options; full hood and half hood, along with at least three possible suppliers; Caterham cars, Soft Bits For Sevens or Oxted Trimmings. A lot of people who opt for a half hood usually never use a full hood again (me included). Oxted and SBFS make half hoods, CC sell them but they are made by SBFS and include a price premium. We have a SBFS half hood and are very pleased with it but as far as I know the Oxted one is also a decent piece of kit. I think you can choose from a range of different materials with SBFS or Oxted. Then of course you'll have the metronymic predictability of people who will tell you to 'go aero'. Edited by - weeman on 18 Feb 2013 19:53:07
  19. Must have been scary. Happened to me once, in a friends newly rebuilt TR6, doing 70 ish down the A13. I think that whatever the cause, you're unlikely to ever know for sure. Of course check stud lengths and wheel nut types so as to eliminate them but the most likely answer is an oversight on your part. I'm sure you didn't want to hear that, but I bet most of us have done it (I certainly have) but were lucky enough for the wheel not to fall off. There's no shame in it. What do they say? "The man who never made a mistake never made anything"
  20. the reasons for recalibration were all 'post' accidents. Dropped from scaffolding once, dropped into water once, over heated on a car manifold once. It's never been struck by lightning though.
  21. Because I've had it re-calibrated three times in it's history and have been told (after the fact) that the recalibration was unnecessary.
  22. I don't know how it compares to others but I've had a Fluke multimeter for 32 years (work issue on the day I started my apprenticeship). Very intuitive to use, extremely robust and unerringly accurate. One of my most treasured tools.
  23. Sad news indeed. Jo and I will always cherish teaming up with you and Jane on our first Wighblat. Cars can be bought and sold but memories last a lifetime, well , at least until Alzheimer's sets in....sorry what was I saying
