  1. Update, checked car last night and I cannot get the problem to repeat itself, it's gone away, for the moment anyway. But I will check the relays are in place, it's just come to mind that the Velcro holding the relays and fuse board in place seems to be weak as after hard acceleration or cornering the whole lot comes loose and hangs on the cables, so maybe I should sort that out ? Martin, yes let's get out again soon Chris
  2. Hi James, don't think it's battery as hadn't charged it for a few weeks and it had always started ok. ironically it had been on charge via an optimate for few days at was in good state, and I drove on mainly motorways for about 15 miles to blat point. ? I had a similar thing happen night before when checking lights, but after several pushes of start / stop button and light switch it reset, although sounded like relay clicking in and out furiously. I thought it may have been due to me not having immobiliser fob in place as I was in my garage doing a quick check. Sounds more like a relay fault to me. additionally on Sunday day of blat, I was trying to turn off lights, had people watching at front and back of car, and occasionally rear lights went off but headlights stayed on ? chris
  3. Hi Jonathan, not had car long and I don't currently have a wiring diagram. Turn off ignition by pushing start button, quick push. chatter only occurred when I turned on lights after turning on ignition. Battery had been on trickle charge, just driven 15 miles to meet point for a blat. will have to check relays chris
  4. I have. R500 D with superlight switch gear (savage make of switches and keyless ignition system) I Had a problem today when I pushed start button 1st stage of turning ignition on, then I turned on lights and found that I could'nt turn off ignition or start engine or turn off lights, kept hearing what sounded like a rapid relay making / un-making. Had to disconnect battery to reset it any ideas what the problem is ? chris
  5. James, additional info, Has premier paint guard fitted to lots of areas, I've had car nearly 5 years and bought it from Caterham Cars, it is a kit build, has been maintained by myself (I'm a Qualified Mechanical Engineer working in power industry) Was checked over by Boss racing suspension / tune up, also had new lambda sensor last MOT. 18 months ago wheels refurbished, has AVON CR500 with good tread. 6 Speed, with LSD & Watts linkage, has full weather gear, side screen arm rests, tonneau cover, and soft bits half hood. Leather seats, normal analogue dash. Typical R300, but not a VVC so has Roller barrels, battery cut off, wide track, black pack. aces change up lights, heater, quiet track exhaust. Has Mechanical oil pressure gauge, I've done 3 track days all at brands hatch with the club. Any questions welcome Chris

  15. Can you explain magnet trick .
  16. Hi Ian, by what you are saying I take it there is a "Rivnut" or similar tapping already in the chasis under the side skin, which is able to take the centre bracket ? Regards Chris
  17. Thanks for the post gary and Ian, in fact it was Gary who pointed out the failure on mine at the cafe two weekends ago, I found that both brackets had failed. i will give both companies a call, I've taken off the exhaust so probably do a quick repair first, but I agree with Ian's point re centre mounting point, so will look into that fix as well regards Chris
  18. My K series R300 exhaust has cracked at the 4 into 1 connection to the cat, there are small brackets welded to 2 of the pipes and then bolted to brackets on the cat! The brackets have failed on the cat side! Can anyone suggest good welding company near Medway in Kent ? also I only have a support at the rear of the silencer and wondered if a centre support should be fitted ? Chris

  22. Hi All, as this is my first track day in a Caterham, wondered if I should be taking the doors off for the evening or is it weather dependent ? Also not had chance to get noise check done so do I need to get there earlier ? Any other tips to prepare car apart from obvious fluid checks, tyre pressures and check wheel tightness ? Regards Chris
