  1. The R400 has sold, the R300 does need paint refreshed and engine tune is more than I wanted. I've found that pistonheads caterham ads do not reflect what's for sale, a lot of cars shown are already sold

    R400 K series

Hi all, if you're thinking of selling an R400 K either chassis or are aware of a car that may come up for sale, please PM me. based in South east. Regards Chris
  3. I found the diameter set in stack was 1650, this doesn't correspond to any tyre dimension, but probably equates to diameter of where the sensor measures the wheel, I have multiplied and have reset to 1753, so may have gone wrong way, will try and see.
  4. Hi all recently changed tyres on my car speedo sensor on front left wheel, tyres changed from Cr500 195/45/15 to 195/50/15 it is now reading 65mph when doing 70mph. Does anyone know what code to enter into stack to adjust. I will ring them tomorrow, but thought I'd try here 1st
  5. Not at moment it is next option to upgrade to, if I find car still, washing out in hairpin. Bearing in mind that really to improve handling, I would need to convert 15 inch rims to 13's, which is quite a mod at the back. in my previous post, I talked about positive camber, just came to me, that is not what Rob, suggested, he meant to reverse toe in to toe out, as set on their race cars. Sorry for any confusion. We also concluded, that probably better to improve me by tuition, instead of improving the car.
  6. Hi all, yes I have the car built by the ex caterham Engineer Owain Davies, as you said has CSR back end, modified to fit a S3 chassis, has 15" wheels with 9" rims on the rear. When I first got it the suspension set up was incorrect, so took it to Boss racing to be corner weighted and set up, they found that the car had too much rake that could not be adjusted out as the standard rear progressive springs are too long. Only today I went in to Boss again and had shorter springs fitted, by Rob and Gary May (of Freestyle fame) non progressive type. Also had ZZS tyres fitted all round. I found previously on track that the car would understeer out of tight hairpins (Druids at Brands) Rob of Boss racing said to see how it goes now after small mods done, but probably due to car having much more grip at the rear, It could cause this understeer. He said if it continues they could fit a Gary May adjustable Sway / roll bar at front, which could be softened to suit track conditions. Otherwise I would have to go for a track orientated set up with positive camber on the front, this causes car to skip about on the road though, which is why I have a more road biased set up. What I have seen at Boss is a car they put together with standard CSR rear end attached to S3 chassis, with wide track front, this is being raced by them. I also saw a car there today that was unbelievable, inboard front, didn't check rear, but has a supercharged 2.5 Duratech. Now putting out somewhere near 400 bhp. Anyway I'm going to Brands next week, so I'll wait to see how it goes. chris

  8. Hi having trouble getting new set of ZZS tyres (CSR)sizes for my car. both rear tyres very low on tread at moment, 1 of them on wear bars. As hopefully doing brands track day in June, just wondered if anyone has 1 worn tyre or pair good tyres, CR500 or full set ZZS. This is in case I can't get any. I'm based in Kent regards Chris

    2020 season

    I'm excited already
  10. I tried to undo bleed nipple, which was seized in fitting that's shown, rotated it, I then tried turning other way and the hydraulic oil then came out bottom of bell housing. It sheared copper pipe. I should have held the nut !!. Luckily I have an access port, but not easy to repair in situ.
  11. Hi all, I'm trying to get hold of build manual for my car, however I'm aware that caterham didn't issue a specific one as they were mainly built in house. I've tried Jonathan Kay, but all manuals he has are not quite right for detail I'm after. I'm looking mainly for data on hydraulic clutch, as I managed to shear off bell housing to clutch slave copper pipe. I've fixed this using a standard CSR clutch pipe. But would like any info to prevent such a calamity again. Will post photos when I've worked out how to do it any info appreciated regards Chris
  12. Just seen this, I’ve had issues over previous brands trackdays, and was black flagged for noise, R500 Duratech, running race air box and fully repacked Raceco, with decat. i ended up fitting McMillan extra exhaust to the Raceco, had to have it extended by about 50mm, and using internal track air box. Went to brands and recently snetterton, no issues on track, although static still appears noisy I.e. 99 to 100db. Exhaust cost £240 last year. regards Chris
