  1. Hi RJ, thanks for the picture, I now can understand what you mean by damping, I will look at my airbox and see what can be done. Chris
  2. Ellie, my Raceco just has a straight through perforated pipe going from inlet to outlet, nothing else, so I’m interested in what you mentioned, is it a standard part or added by yourself. chris
  3. Hi tom I’ve been working in the garden all day. Raceco is 750 mm long, o/d inlet pipe is 63mm. the extra exhaust has a swaged end that pushes into the Raceco outlet pipe, my outlet Is 61mm i/d so extra exhaust will be something like 58mm i/d so a bit more restrictive.
  4. Hi tom yes I’m using the box you just posted, which I believe is a race box, James has the internal airbox with K&N filter chris
  5. Hi Tom, I’m not looking to replace Raceco, but to add another silencer, similar to R620 rear exit, on top as per the cars I saw at brands R300 race cars, it clamps into end of exhaust exit and then sits on top of the raceco, somewhat obstructing the drivers door opening and clamps to the inlet end just after the decay pipe, the exhaust then turns down to the floor. The current extra exhaust costs about £240 but will need to be modified as Raceco can is longer. ‘The only query I have is whether it can cope with the extra power of my car re exhaust gas flow. when I used the decibel slayer, I had a massive hole in torque curve around 4K rpm. chris
  6. Hi Rj, thanks for comments, a picture could be useful, of the airbox foam and mesh if that’s not too much trouble chris
  7. Rj, thanks for comments in tech talk, will have a detailed read and then have a think. ‘Regards Chris
  8. James, I was at 96db static at only 5500 rpm, have repacked with the stuff raceco supply, which is expensive, what have you repacked with ? I have seen some comments re acoustafil product being used ! otherwise it may point to induction as my airbox is external
  9. Bit of a catch 22 situation, unless I get one or the other upgrades, I currently have standard foam Pipercross silencer under carbon airbox
  10. Hi James, I once again failed the drive by noise limit at brands yesterday, 3 dB over they said, I have the external carbon one, but an R500 next to me had internal with no problems, ive also got a raceco, normal length can, which I repacked just before event bit boring driving at limited revs and short shifting, concerned now re other tracks I’d like to try especially Cadwell Chris
  11. Hi all, suggestions re how to reduce car noise levels, R500 D with Raceco exhaust, no cat, failed by 3db on drive by unsure exactly where on track. Had to reduce revs to around 7000 from then on and use decibel slayer. The exhaust was repacked before event, car has external noisier exterior airbox. Engine red lines at 8500 rpm. what is best suggestion re fitting either internal track air box, although caterham are out of stock and they are expensive. another option is to try the extra exhaust fitted to most of the R300 D racecars, which consists of a bolt on extra silencer (supposedly fitted due to Sadev gearbox causing loud pops when shifting) these cars have about 175 bhp so don’t know if the extra exhaust will allow free flow of exhaust gas for circa 260bhp ? Chris
  12. wanted track day air box for R500 D with internal conical filter, prefer carbon type if possible
  13. trying to replace damaged switch, have loom already and control knob. interested in switch or loom combo.
  14. Had another look at it yesterday, loosened off wiper spigots no difference, still awful fit, I will have to remove scuttle poppers and screw through aero to scuttle, then use foam / edge strip as suggested chris
  15. Thanks for responses, gives me some good ideas to fix issue, final question have you put foam rubber just along edge area on the inside or filled whole area that should in theory touch the scuttle ? Chris
  16. Hi John, thanks for info, looks ideal chris
  17. Hi phil, thanks for the additional info and photo, do You mean wiper spigot nuts ? as you say cc aero has two female poppers underneath which raises it up, currently the scuttle poppers and aero ones are in different places when positioned correctly, i removed the screws and they seem to miss the scuttle tube so are too far forward, I don’t really want to put additional holes into the car, I also didn’t want to drill additional holes into the aero, but that may be the best option. I have made a spacer bracket between the two but this make the gap issue worse. I’ll have another look. chris
  18. Phil, yes real bad fit, even trying what you said re pulling down leaves a big gap. i do want it quick change as would like to have both screens when I take it to distant trackdays. good idea re rubber, will try that. I take it you screwed through the aero directly to the scuttle Thanks for help chris
  19. Hi all recently purchased secondhand fibreglass aeroscreen, attempting to fit to car, but alignment is poor, there is 6 to 8 mm gap between scuttle and aero, car is metric chassis. part number of aero is as per caterham web site. has anyone else had similar issues and any remedies to get a better fit. Current scuttle attachment poppers don’t align either. Regards Chris
  20. Hi mike, can I have 1st refusal, depending on some questions 1) is it for S3 2) what it the condition any photos 3) where are you based 4) is it quick release change type from caterham so that can swap it easily at track day regards Chris
  21. Thanks for pictures Dave chris
  22. Hi Paul wondered if you still have tyres for sale ? Regards chris
  23. Hi, that was me, had a nice run to rye, then met up by chance with Simon, green/yellow car 260 went back via goudhurst
  24. I was there in the orange cat, parked near entrance gates. Saw yellow R500D on the main display area, and red caterham in the garages. nice to see a caterham among all the high priced exotica. Very busy and took a while to get in there.
