    3.92 Standard Diff

I'm interested (I assume this is case, open diff and crown wheel) - what condition is it in? Has it had the lump of metal removed from the back?
  2. no problem - I hope you didn't have to wait too much longer after we left.
  3. here might help. Take a look about 2/3 the way down (or just search for crank sensor) Edited by - CB on 15 Apr 2006 08:28:06
  4. bending the ears doesn't sound a good plan...

    Gearing

There was an interesting thread on gearbox options here BGH though rather than Caterham standard
  6. and to make things even less clear - the recent Roadsports have an 8% rack (at least that is what I was told) and CC list them as having "1.93 turns lock to lock"
  7. Didn't the 6sp used to come with a 3.62 diff as standard? Are they honestly talking about adding £250 to get what always used to be standard? Could they really mean that 3.62 is standard and "touring" is the 3.38 diff they said they were putting in the CSR? I can't imagine they would seriously have the 3.92 as the default...
  8. £250 for a diff ratio change? On top of the £300 increase in price of the 6sp over the last year? Ah the joy of private equity buy outs...
  9. Or cheat and see how much the extension loom is from CC? They include one with the high level brake light kit (it just plugs in) and I guess they might sell it separately . Very neat beast and takes the guesswork out of things.
  10. On the whole very good. Can get a bit damp with water coming round the back of the side screens and rollbar - but on the whole vastly preferable to the full weather gear in most circumstances.
  11. Not all of them have the metal bar. Mine secures back on itself having looped all the way round the roll bar attachment point - the gap was too small to get more than a single thickness of webbing through so the strap was "redesigned" .
  12. I see Caterham now have SV half doors in their online parts store. £211.50 a pair.
  13. yup - didn't get stuck behind too much. Nice to have some good weather once again as well .
  14. Sounds like me as long as Aztec Orange is "orange(ish)"
  15. Yup - it is an easy fit. Drill two small holes in the back of the car, drill the bracket, rivet it to the car and attach to the spare wheel carrier bolt then all that is really left is wiring. It comes with a loom to attach to the existing wiring which just plugs in. You could certainly put in a high level brake light for rather less money though - but the kit does reduce the amount of thought required.

    No Brake Lights

I concur with blade_runner - mine had exactly the same symptoms. Opened the switch unit, cleaned it up and hey presto!

  18. Ken - I haven't got quite as far as deciding to go that route yet... David W - I'm not that close but I'll bear it in mind. I am still in the "so many choices" stage . The offer is appreciated though
  19. Thanks - as you say the decision of CC vs DVA seems to be one of "ease" of resale/trade-in vs technical flexibility. But whether it is CC or DVA, from a subjective point of view how does the performance increase? Is it just the ability to push the revs higher or do you gain something throughout the rev range?
  20. Leaving aside the DVA/CC upgrade route debate, what are the benefits of the CC Supersport kit to a standard 1600K ? Is there any gain other than an increased max rpm (with accompanying power lift)? How different is the car to drive? Does it lose out lower down the rev range?
  21. Thanks for the offer - but really I'm hoping not to have to change anything - and keep the flexibility to use anything from 13" - 15"
  22. I am sure I must be missing something - but why is a different cycle wing needed when going from 13" or 14" wheels to 15"? Taking a 14" ZV1 (Roadsport default tyre) for example the overall diameter is 578mm but the overall diameter of a 15" CR500 is 554mm. i.e. the 15" is smaller Some tyres are deeper profiled - but there doesn't seem to be a general need to change the wings if the wheel size is increased. Have I got this wrong? Is there something other than the new wheel fitting under the wing that needs to be taken into account?

    Some Rules

I agree - nice to have some rules. I am slightly confused about the aim of the "no email" bit though. Why should negotiations on price etc. be public?
