  1. Do you have an LSD fitted? If so it might be the diff locking/unlocking perhaps.

    Measurements

Hi Guys and Girls, I am about to retro fit a set of individual primary exhaust pipes to my 2014 Duratec roadsport 175. As standard my car has the single exhaust pipe exiting through the drivers/right hand side panel. What i am looking for is the measurements to enlarge the hole for the 4 individual pipes through the side panel. Is it possible for anyone who has an SV/large chassis duratec engine with the 4 individual exhaust pipes to measure down from the engine number stamped chassis tube to the top of the opening for the exhaust exit and also from the lower rear, front suspension A arm cutout back to the front of the exhaust exit cutout? Does that make any sense. Thank you in advance, Dave
  3. Haha, I had heard stories about English drivers and their "special" interests, oh, you meant my titanium nuts? I don't want to upset the purists out there but they are from a Chev. I got them from the good ol US of A,via ebay. Cost to me was $87 dollars plus post to Australia for 20 nuts, 5 per wheel for Chev. I figured 12 x 1.5 with a 60 degree seat was right for my Caterham, what could go wrong, in fact nothing did. They fit like they were made for the Caterham. I could quite easily cut these in half for my fitment, the last 1/2 inch is just to allow a socket to grip them in deep dish wheels. Inside the last half inch is a rubber seal to keep crap out of the threads. The first thing you notice is how light they really are, my first thought was the thread will just pull out! Cheers Dave
  4. I was lucky enough to find a set of Titanium wheel nuts, these weigh 31 grams, half the weight of the standard items.
  5. My scissor lift is clear span on the ramps so i have good access to work underneath it.
  6. Hi John, I had the same set up on my 2014 factory built Roadsport. Did the bolt that goes through the De Dion mount have washers under the bolt head and nut? Mine didn't, I assumed that the washers had been placed in the wrong location so i put them under the bolt head and nut. I made up some graphite impregnated nylon washers to replace them. From memory the OD was 37 mm so much larger than the steel washers. The steel washers were a perfect fit to slip inside the De Dion mount. Dave
  7. Thank you D Jones, sounds logical. I'm just waiting on my silencer to arrive and I will get to it. Cheers
  8. Thanks Jonathan, I will have a look and see what turns up. Cheers
  9. Hello Jonathan, I have had a look for exhaust cutout measurements but so far i am unable to locate anything. Can you point me in the right direction please. Cheers Dave
  10. Hmm, Is this what it costs to register a road car in the UK, 325 pound, or do you have to pay extra on top of that?
  11. Wheel nuts are 12 mm x 1.5. I just bought a set myself.
  12. I bet there would be a few on here that have similar photos!
  13. Hi Nigel, My chassis is the SV version, from what i can see i have plenty of room around the tubes. The current primary pipes measure 37 mm OD and the replacement primary pipes measure 45 mm OD so i am hoping i might get a little more urge out of the engine. I will get the car tuned for the new exhaust as soon as it's on and running.
  14. Hi Guys, Thank you all, I will have a look through the archives and see if i can find the measurements, thanks Jonathan. Cutting the side out isn't something i look forward to! Cheers Dave
  15. Hi Guys there is one of these for sale on Facebook marketplace. Not sure what part of the UK it is in though. I think he wanted 170 for wheel and tyre. There is also a guy on Facebook marketplace selling what looks like sets of these wheels but he says he will sell them individually for 150 each. His ad shows wheels with a yellow band around the rim. Cheers
  16. Hi Guys and Girls, I have a 2014 Duratec Roadsport 175 that came with a single exhaust outlet through the side of the car. I now have the 4 individual primary pipes, collector and the side exit silencer. I need to cut/enlarge the hole through which the 4 individual primary pipes pass. Does anyone have a template and or measurements for this enlarged hole. What would be the best way to cut said hole, what tooling do i need to get the best result. I have asked a couple of mechanical shops here and none want to touch it when they see the car. Cheers Dave
  17. Hi Guys and Girls, I am looking for a silencer to suit a 2014 Duratec engined Caterham. Either genuine Caterham or Raceco, must be 63 mm inlet. I believe the Caterham reference number is 380X0006A. Cheers
  18. If you are referring to the clear side screen wind deflectors, i don't think they do much. I fitted a set and used them once, i don't like that they sit on the paintwork at the bottom either. I just had a thought, I have a BMW M roadster that has a wind deflector between the seats and that seems to help but it also has a curved windscreen.
  19. Caterham sell both the adhesive and the rubber edging for the cycle wings. The rubber edging is cheap, the adhesive is not.
  20. Hi, Check the 2 screws that hold the two center lift the dot poppers on the top of the dash, they seem to work their way loose and make a buzzing sound.
  21. Check also the alignment of the prop/tailshaft in relationship to the gearbox and diff. The shaft should be in line with the diff pinion gear shaft and the gearbox output shaft. The pinion shaft and gearbox output shaft should be parallel with each other. I think they make a spacer plate to go under the rear gearbox mount if the gearbox is tilted down.
  22. Hello All, I understand you Guys over in the northern hemisphere have to add glycol based coolants to your engines to prevent freezing the water in engines. I am based in Queensland, Australia where it gets very hot so I don't really have any issues with freezing. I have read a few articles on the efficacy of glycol as a coolant and it doesn't rate that highly compared to straight water. The question i am asking is, can i flush the glycol out and just use an inhibitor, like Penrite 10/10ths inhibitor with some water wetter in my 2014, 2 liter duratec engine without fear of damaging the engine in some way? I have been told that glycol based coolants are banned here on race tracks because it is so slippery if it gets onto the track, is that the case in the UK? Cheers Dave
  23. Thank you for the information, now I know. So that leads to the next question, would there be any advantage in making my own from say, Graphite impregnated nylon, perhaps a bit thicker or should i just measure the gap in my car and add 0.005"? I'm just trying to find something a bit more longer lasting if they wear so quickly. Dave
  24. Please excuse my ignorance but what do the "nylon race washers" do? Why are they there. Cheers Dave
