  2. Fit the master cylinder race cap with the rubber bellows, it solved the problem completely on my car. Don't forget to refit the original for future MOT's.
  3. I built my car in 2010 and the kit came with the Ford diff which I found to be appallingly noisy. After a number of visits to CCM I did a deal with them for the BMW replacement which required a mounting adaptor to fit the smaller unit. Problems arose around this adaptor with cracks, loosening bolts and in my case a damaged brake line on top of the DeDion tube. A mk 2 adaptor was fitted to all the Academy cars and were made available for others. After hearing about a mk 3 adaptor I decided to wait for this solution on the basis that the mk 3 would be an improvement on the mk 2 and so it proved. CC provided the kit to Kenricks in Llangollen who fitted it at no cost to myself. It has been used since then without any problem, so much quieter than the Ford unit and certainly no oil leaks. I'm sure plenty of posts can be found around 2011/12 providing more info.
  4. Just had a set of minilites refurbed in silver at the Wheel Specialist depot local to me for £204 after the club discount. They stripped and sorted out a couple of small dings and then re powder coated. Very pleased with the end result and they have a wide range of colours and finishes available. Check out their countrywide locations on the club special offers page.
  5. Please add me to your list, thanks Oily
  6. Hi Jules, If you are not happy about the Diy approach, Kenrick Motors in Llangollen would be my first choice. They are an approved Caterham service centre with many years experience of road and track preparation. Their Tel No. 01978 861382. Cheers Bill
  7. At A49 lights turning towards Winsford, lovely day for it.
  8. I have a pair of used stainless guards which you are welcome to for the cost of postage. They are a matched pair i.e. no cutout. BM me if you want them. Bill
  9. Cheers Richard, thought as much. See you at Loton.
  10. The latest Low Flying (page 29) lists the speed championship dates and in some of the notes column it states spectators welcome and free entry. I always go to Loton in the 7 but have always had to pay for all meetings. Can any of you sprinters/ hillclimbers shed any light on the 'free entry' and if I can get it? Have a great season Bill
  11. Check that the steering rack movement is centred i.e same number of turns to the left and right before adjusting the track rod ends. You may have to reposition the steering wheel and column if you fitted these prior to centring.
  12. Yes, if it is possible to fit one, I will only need it for the MOT. Still interested in seeing a few pics. Cheers Bill

  18. I'll see what I can do, but it will be a couple of days before I get the opportunity.
  19. I changed from an extremely noisy ford diff in my 2010 self build car to a BMW unit which was fitted by CCM at a reduced cost. In some installations, some owners of the new BMW diff found loose mounting bolts, cracked carriers and even damaged brake lines from protruding bolt heads. When I reported this problem with the brake line, CC picked up my car from Cheshire for further inspection at the factory. In time a modified carrier was released most of which I understand went to the race cars as a priority. i didn't go with this option as I had heard a third carrier was being designed which indicated to me the second carrier still needed to be improved. Eventually it was released and I opted for it to be fitted by Kenricks in Llangollen with all costs being covered by CC. This solution included a new alloy diff backplate as well as the carrier reducing the weight and has proved to be trouble free since. Hope this helps.
  20. towards Delamere forest.
