  1. Bad, Oxted! How many business get to equip a 60 year old product and you can't support an S3?
  2. @Wrightpayne Thank you, I have sent a comment. I do wonder why the cutout is so far back?
  3. Hey @GaryK Contemplating doing this mod with a T9. How has yours worked thus far?
  4. Thanks for that link, the visuals are helpful. I can only remember asking about the Rally Design extension, which I am wanting, but RD isn't selling to the states and Matt Lewis isn't carrying them. I don't know who else sells those.
  5. I would like to see a picture of a cap with threadded holes. I had an idea of making a mini puller from a Cleco pin...
  6. There are the inflatable cushions...I don't know if they're available small for 7s. I have been considering mounting my steel scissor jack to the battery tray on the lower chassis tubes. When I put a flat battery on the scuttle shelf I will need to find a use for that tray.
  7. Hello, For you with the 4 speed Escort Caterhams you should have a remote shifter extension built into the tunnel connecting the shift knob, probably Escort, to the transmission turret via a ladder type linkage. Has anyone successfully used this shifter extension on a T-9 5 speed? Or can anyone say if this is a feasible idea or not? Surely someone has tried it in thirty years... Thanks.
  8. Drill. Be sure to check the AG for the requirement of any spacing under the mount for drive line angle.
  9. Consider using a submarine strap in the center. The 4 point H harness has a trait of riding up the torso the tighrer you make the shoulder straps. The sub strap will keep the waist belt around your waist.
  10. Must not offend those who identify as bio- mechanicals
  11. The decision to go to Arch has been made, and if I were there, I probably would. But for others consideration, I will say that powder coat (PC) is generally a good coating if its done well with good surface prep work. Otherwise, PC can have disadvantages like hiding corrosion under its surface undetected because its a hard shell. Paint can do the same, but because its softer, the surface will bubble and reveal corrosion sooner than PC. Paint is easy to remove, fill, reapply and blend. Paint will flex. If you don't mind doing touchup work with a rattle can for chips and modifications, paint surface repair is fast and easy and inexpensive.
  12. Try to get them with grease zerks fitted
  13. Is there any friction disc type LSD that fits the Ital/Marina as fitted in Cats? Already aware of the Quaife ATB. Im not opposed to it entirely but this question is looking for alternatives. Thanks.
  14. If I found that I had 11/16, would a swap up to 3/4 be worthwhile? Or the Austin Healey BN 1" The piston may not be centered on the shoe at that size...

    With aeros, you probably are...
  16. Straight. If I csn do it accurately, i could measure all the angles and report.
  17. Its been a long time, very happy with mine. https://www.mirrorsforsevens.com/ Looks like NLA. I would try to get the file and print it. his looks CNC from a solid block of ABS
  18. My Cat was built for race spec therefore the frame spare bung is too low for 185/70 R13. My solution is to keep the spare original size and an extra block in the boot. I will have all running wheels 185/70 and if a flat is a rear, rotate a front to back and put the spare up front. The flat should compress low enough to fit in the carrier. For the bounce , i loop rubber straps with S hooks through the spokes down to the carrier tube. They don't stand out enough to be an eyesore. Another thing, the spare tyre removal from the Y bracket is a real pain. Looking for other ideas that will also add security. Perhaps a sign on the wheel "This wheel will not fit on any cars here or any car you buy today". (Marina/Ital)
  19. Anyone know the cylinder sizes that came on the Steve Perks recon'd live axles in the mid-90s?
  20. You have either a Live Axle or a DeDion. If your Cat is as supplied from Cat, the engine year and model is helpful.
  21. Alright, thank you. Yes, I learned how to attach, thank you. So, can anyone reccomend a case stretcher I can purchase now?
  22. @Nigel, that is removal of the diff case. I refer to the gear carrier that is held by two bearing caps and four bolts for the purpose of swapping in a Quaife ATB. Interesting Cat was still using these in 2002.
  23. Haynes manuals for Ital & Marina state to use an axle casing spreader / stretcher for the removal of the diff. This should apply to TR7-4, Spitfire, GT6 & Dolly. BLMC part # 18G131C. Has anyone found this tool to be necessary for a diff swap? Thanks.
  24. Thanks Clive. That is a lot of good news. Its good you have the pressed bearings. Do keep the A frame bushes fresh so the shafts don't walk out due to lateral hammering. Scott
