  3. Be very careful of static spark. Do not put anything electrical in the tank, isolate the battery and earth the car, do not turn torch on near the tank, if you put a mirror in then make sure the handle is made of non spark metal ie aluminium or brass, also be aware that an almost empty tank is more volatile than a full one as a tank full of fumes is much more explosive. Safety first mate (ex tanker driver). Bill.
  4. Masking tape to cover twice the area and press on firmly, it will stop damage if you should slip and also stops the edges from splintering.
  5. So as a replacement LSD for a 420R if or when required would the Tracsport version be the better option, and does anyone know the cost of one. Thanks.
  6. New 420R, ready April 2021.
  7. ChrisC, thanks for your input, my car will never be taken shopping and will certainly be driven hard at certain times, I have driven a caterham before and am looking forward to owning one. I am just concerned about the LSD problems a lot of owners are having and what the alternative is and cost if I should need to rebuild or replace mine.
  8. I'm becoming a bit confused about how crap the LSD's are in the Caterhams, I'm about to order a new 420R and I must say all this talk of the shortcomings is starting to put me off going ahead. I can't understand how CC cannot get this right considering the high cost of these cars. Does anyone know what would be the best replacement diff and cost when the original one gives up being fit for purpose. Thanks,Bill.
  9. Sticky back neoprene, comes in different sheet sizes and different thickness, can be cut to size and layered if needed to mute the bleeper to your desired volume as it's a very dense rubber foam it should work well and it has lots of other uses ie to stop rattling else where. I think it comes in 1mm upto10mm, the thicker one could be used to customise tillets for comfort and fit. Look for it on eBay and Amazon.
  10. What about cars with lowered floors and speed humps?
  11. Try using grade 0000 wire wool it's very soft so it won't put any deep scratches on the surface. It's used in the furniture industry to apply a wax finish to wood which has to be even and uniform so should give a nice satin finish. Regards.Bill.

    Mirrors

Not sure if this could be a solution but what about sourcing a couple of small windscreen mirrors and fitting them somehow to the top left and right of the windscreen. Also I have seen a picture of a racing caterham with a continuous mirror all the way across the screen. Regards.Bill.
