  1. So after the long transformation of my Superlite to a Wife acceptable GT (photos to follow) She said she would drive the car for the first time. We had just pulled out of the driveway and 100 yards down the street in our neighborhood she she was in first and depressed the clutch to grab second the car suddenly revved and stayed there I thought she had depressed the gas pedal and was yelling at her to release it she was yelling back at me that she was not pressing the gas. As you can imaging the noise from the exhaust was rather loud and there we are yelling at each other over the engine noise as we sat there. (She is insisting I tried to kill her) After a few seconds the car settled down and she yelled at me again (for yelling at her) got out to walk home. I tried to drive home but same issue a slight depress of the gas the car revs and stays their above what one would assume the RPM to be in relation to the gas pedal position The pedal is not getting hung up inside the car so where to check next? The throttle linkage all seems to move freely so I am kinda lost on what may have caused this 2.0 Zetec
  2. Anyone know what size rivets are used for the boot cover poppers? Resprayed the car so had all the boot poppers removed now I cant find the right size rivets to reinstall them (dia vs head size) I find ones where the head fits but the dia is to small or the reverse. Thanks (So close to finishing)
  3. Someone said loosen the mounts and move the case over but I don't see being able to replace this without removing the engine and gear box which is something that is beyond my abilities and I can see a frustration off the scale just thinking about trying with the gear box in the car. Plan B take it to a mechanic and hope they can work it in without major surgery
  4. I am sorry but I just dont get this, the cap does not go where the Speedo angle drive exits it is on the other side of the housing correct? ,This picture is showing where the cap goes but I cannot relate this to the gearbox am I correct in saying this is the opposite side where he angle drive attaches?
  5. Yep I spoke to Arch they said it is to raise the seat up slightly as the new floor configuration can interfere with the seat moving forward and back. The cardboard template is an excellent idea Thanks The car is getting a new coat of paint when it is back I will call Arch again and get a definitive answer
  6. OK Just have to wait til the seats come in for the distance between seat runners. but I am still unclear over the four holes in the floor. Are they to set the support bars position front and rear? if so do I use the front ones or the rear (As the photo show the bar does not extend to both holes)
  7. Yet another question I am, getting new seats from the UK should be here by Dec 14th and will hopefully be using the runners that came from the old Tilletts. As part of the lowered floor bits I have these two seat ali supports. I understand the runners sit on top of these (and they are installed in the cockpit not underneath) but what are the three holes in the bar and what are the four holes in the floor The floor holes are spaced further apart than the length of the bar but the same dia I called Arch but did not really understand their explanation about lining up the seats with the holes that does not seem correct (The holes in the ali bar do not line up with the seat runner bolts)
  8. Sure I am missing something of just in the wrong place Is it the opposite side If so I think I know where but even with the guide looks imposable to refit is it essential? Thanks Steve
  9. I was working under the car and this fell out from somewhere around the gear box any ideas what it covered?
  10. Yep thanks again everyone I will give Arch a bell tomorrow and see if they have any words of wisdom. It really does look kinda simple labor intensive as I am on my jack (the wife is still not talking to me after the big Caterham box arrived and me trying to explain why I need new floors) Thanks Ian it is difficult to explain a procedure I was planing on cutting the floor 1/2" in from the rivet holes front to back so I will have a strip which is easier to handle for the template then punch a di=imple where the floor needs to be drilled. I don't want the tube looking like Swiss cheese Not reinstalling the underside channels is a + I have Tillet spacers from the old seats and I am sure I will need to angle the new one up a bit, should I use the spaces between the floor and new support or support and seat mount (They are adjustable seat mounts) Powder coating is not an option I have spent the budget for this year (and part of next year) so I was just going to scuff, etch and paint it with a rubberized truck bed paint
  11. I was not thinking regarding the bracket, the floor is no longer attached to that center beam but 2" lower...... Dhu!! Do I still need to re attached the two seat support channels under the floor? Still need a way to line up the existing holes I will be re riveting into (that would be the inner side of the floor) Kinda wish Caterham sup[plied a basic how to guide but then again that what you guys are for (-: Thank you all for the advise I plan on tackling this over the weekend
  12. I am about to undertake installing lowered floors in my superlite While the actual installation look straight forward but time consuming (I hear Arch does it in 90 minuets) I do have a couple of question The photo shows what I assume are new seat supports eliminating the old chanel ones but much shorter and a angled bar, I have been told this a a support piece that is riveted in front of the seat runners onto the cross beam Does anyone have a photo of this piece installed and why is it now needed. as I do not see how it support anything riveted to the cross beam? Do I use the old floor as a template for holes I need to drill in the new floors or is there another trick as to how I line up any existing rivet holes. What is a good paint option I was thinking a black type rubber coating on the inside? I am sure as I attempt this 90 min job I will be posing a few more questions. Thanks Steve
  13. Thanks It would be nice if Caterham gave some indication on the floor where to drill to attach runners maybe two guide lines as to where the seat runners or tubing line up.(to center the seat in the cockpit) That way you could a least be sure they are are centered on in the car
  14. I am about to attempt fitting lowered floors in my superlite Any Tips on location when drilling/attaching the support rails and drilling the adjustable seat mounts. (I do not want to end up with multiple holes in the floor) I am not sure how I could use the old floor as a template unless I cut it down to fit inside the new one. Any help? Thanks Steve
  15. I think ether one as Darren over at Caterham said 5/32 and I believe 1/2' length? https://www.mcmaster.com/97525A465 or these https://www.mcmaster.com/97525A470 And both sides = 200?

    Rivets

I am installing a drop floor and there is some confusion over the type of rivet Steel can mean a steel mandrel and ali head or all steel (mandrel and head) I was told Arch uses "all steel" can anyone confirm this? And if I use all steel I would think rust would be a concern. Thanks Steve
  17. Cheers Tazio I would like any feedback on using the Big Head to attach the cycle wings, the reason for possibly using them is I like the odd track day so I also purchased a $60 pair of wide GRP ones from fleabay. the Hoosier slicks I run on the track are wider than the street tires and they stick out from the CF wings so any debris kicked up has the potential for taking out a tooth. I figure by using the Big Heads I can swap out the front wings on track days. If anyone has use this method for attaching the front wing what are the pros and cons. Thanks Steve
