  1. I had understood standard roll bar wasnt secured from underneath but on removing it, it is secured similarly to track day roll bar, looks to be equally well made (by Caged). Major faff to replace though
  2. Thanks, i managed to use my xmas present endoscope gadget to confirm. Also that the standard rollbar does appear to have the bolts underneath fitted, useful gadget
  3. Very lucky to catch a carbon aeroscreen at a great price at the Caterham Open Day this morning. Quick question, does anyone know if a 2017 chassis comes with the captive nuts in the scuttle as standard please to save me looking? (tried searching archive but no luck) Thanks Simon
  4. Can anyone advise on best path for upgrade please, camshafts and springs or TB's? Both seem to achieve similar power but very different approaches. Also would prefer to use at least Caterham parts (eg cams & springs) to ensure resale value Thanks
  5. Following on from the high oil pressure, i also noticed that the oil temperature stays quite low around 80c which was a surprise. Previous car was a sigma 310 and that ran much hotter. Granted its been cold recently so will be interesting to see what temp and pressure do when Spring finally arrives
  6. Thanks for replies i thought upgrade was cams, springs, caps, injectors and remap 175->210bhp? Thought throttles bodies would take that 210->220bhp 420r doesnt have throttle bodies, same plenum as 360r i would prefer to stick with standard plenum and avoid throttle bodies as higher maintenance
  7. Am thinking about a similar upgrade and was would be interested to hear what your upgrade consisted in detail and why you think it went wrong. CC charge £2300 for this upgrade and i suspect considerable savings can be made but obviously only if a good result can be achieved?
  8. Anyone interested in this, its a good piece of kit and I would have expected someone to want it?
  9. The 1/8npt brass threaded water sender from Caterham parts should do the job, water temp gauge will read up to about 120c which should be enough i thought the standard track upgrade for a K series was the apollo de-ariating tank? This increased the oil capacity by 2L and provided a more reliable source of oil for the pump. These had a temp sender in them for monitoring the oil temp and i think they provided some cooling capabilities, probably through increasing the oil capacity. Not an expensive upgrade
  10. The green and blue wire into the plug is the sender wire which needs to be switched, used a multi meter to work out which is which, all works well The wiring doesnt seem to match up with the caerbont tech guide but dont suppose the caterham wiring would be expected to?
  11. Aha, thank you, just found the pdf and it suggests a direct feed from sender, so it may work after all. Just after i have stripped sender and feed wire from car, doh! Will give it another go
  12. Agreed, i called CC and they think this is normal behaviour and not to worry. Im going to take their advice
  13. Looks like there is a digital temp sender specifically for the new CAN bus cars, only hope is if someone knows how to add an additional oil temp sender into the CAN bus wiring loom. Caterham parts dont think it can easily be done, shame
  14. Thanks Chris, yes, helpful, wasnt aware of the CAN protocol, so next question is does this gauge take an analog input for temp senders or has that signal been digitised in an ecu first? Given that these gauges swing the needles at startup i guess it must be digital Sounds like the old fashioned switch bodge to flick between oil and water temp isnt going to work, hmmm
  15. There are 4 wires so guessing they will be ground, 12v ignition, 12v lights and resistance to ground from sender, just need to test
  16. Thanks, took a look at assemby guide wiring diagram but not very revealing and plug layout is old type main question is whether these new gauges feed of the standard analog simple temp senders? simon
  17. Hello Trying to add an oil temp feed to water temp gauge to my newish 360r and it has a fancy new caerbont 3/4 deflection temp gauge with a multi pin socket. (Have tapped a water temp sender into the blue finger filter plug) Am i right to assume this works the same as the old 1/4 deflection analog gauges? It has 4 leads going on which i am assuming are analog water temp feed, earth, lighting and associated earth, should be able to work these out with the trusty multimeter but if anyone has a pin layout it would be much appreciated Thanks Simon
  18. Just been out for a blat after a month or so and noticed my new to me <1000 miles 360r seems to be running very high oil pressure. At 50mph its running 6 bar cold reducing to 5 bar on return when hot, increasing revs over 4000 sends pressure to 6.5 to 7 bar which is the start of the gauge red area. Idling is 2.5 bar which seems reasonable. Is this just a new tight engine or something more? 7 bar seems concerningly high
