  1. Following a 'high pressure' situation at Anglesey on Monday I have decided I should probably change my coolant hoses, and I fancy some shiny blue silicone ones I'm looking at Classic Silicone Hoses as I want to make the change next week and SFS seem to have hit and miss delivery times. Anyway, Classic Hoses state in their fitting instructions not to use an OAT coolant. The recommended coolant on here seems to be Comma G30, which has OAT additives. Question is has anyone got any experience with these hoses and what coolant have they used? Thanks
  2. Spotted last night, green and yellow stripe 310R in the car park. Hope it wasn't too cold driving back after a swim!
  3. Spotted by my girlfriend driving towards the M62 from Winwick @10.45 enjoying the good weather!

I'm using AirBnB, had a quick check on there and still plenty available for the night before ranging from £60 to £100 or so
  5. Assuming it was J10 to skip around Warrington..? Had to Google Ninemeister, looks like they do work on some amazing classic Porsche.
  6. Proxy spot by girlfriend, around 3.30 today on her way back from work. Brilliant day for it, hopefully you were on better roads than the M56!
  7. Just had my bid cancelled and the seller has removed all their posts
  8. Interesting idea Nick, if stored on the drive is a car in a covered trailer secure? I'd probably have it blocked in for much of the time to get around security anyway. Car is in a nice warm garage for its hibernation at the moment, where it'll stay until we get the driveway sorted as I don't want to leave it on the grass. I've seen some heavy duty temporary garages which appear to be giant tents, maybe one of these on the gravel drive is a temporary storage means. Not sure about one over the winter months. Glad to hear you're staying in the area Tom, and with a garage!!
  9. We've got a decent sized driveway so there's potential to get a car port built, not until much later on this year due to the order of home improvements (driveway is still lawned, hopefully gravelled in the spring time). Tom are you still staying local to LADS with the house move? I managed to make it up for the monthly meeting February but missed this month.
  10. Hi Tom, Looking at longer term, I don't think we'll get around to building a garage at our new house in the next 18 months at least and putting it into hibernation 150 miles away for over half of the year is starting to get irritating to say the least. The prices at the Cheetham Hill site confirm that £200/month is steep for long term!
  11. Had a quick look on there earlier and not much. Appears that yesterday somebody put up a tired looking garage with lighting and electrics for £200/month. Is it just me or is that a bit of an ambitious asking price?
  12. Does anyone know of any vacant garage space or lockup garages around South Manchester? I've struggled to find any just searching on Google. Any particular websites anybody would recommend? Cheers
  13. As an alternative to the R888Rs, I have Nankang NS-2R tyres fitted which have been suitable for fast road use and have a bit more tread than the Toyos for wet conditions. They also stood up well to the tarmac lake at the 60th anniversary last year, worth a look at depending on your use. Nankang also do the AR-1 in 185/60/R14 which is a much more track focussed tyre, though I've not heard many reviews on these yet.
  14. To round the thread off I have now had this work done by the guys at 213 and the service / finish is excellent. Thanks again
  15. Thanks for the reassurance Gav. If service is that good then costs are worthwhile.
  16. Thanks for the info everyone. They're the guys I spoke to a year ago about sorting it and was quoted around £200 Inc vat, hopefully the club discount brings that down a little.Shame to hear about similar problems, makes me wonder whether I replace the original speedo and get an original rev counter in too. Although I've heard they're even less reliable!
  17. Hi Everyone,I've been using my car for the last year with a snapped rev counter needle, which I'd like to get sorted before the driving season starts again. The gauge is a Stack ST700 which has been a good unit and hence looking to repair rather then replace. Anyway, has anyone ever taken one of these units or similar apart? Or could someone point me in the direction of someone who could fix something like this? Thanks for any help and hope everyone has a suitably car related festive break!
  18. Spotted by the girlfriend whilst she was working at the reservoir today
  19. Anyone got a pulley around this size to suit a Denso / Brise style lightweight alternator? Shaft is 15mm.Cheers
  20. Unfortunately looks to be a different mount on that one. Found a similar one elsewhere though, which will check with Brise to see if it's Caterham suitable. On a side, I've found out what the cause of the failure was. A nut I found on my drive turned out to be the pulley lock nut!
  21. Going to give Tim at Brise a call on Monday to discuss what options I have with them. By plug do you mean the ignition and live points? At the moment I just have a couple of spade connectors in there rather than the Brise plug.
  22. Yep, definitely an Apollo air separator I have in there then. Not sure it will encroach itself on the area the alternator would sit in but there are some additional bits of kit around it that would make it tight to fit without breaking many fingers. I had issues with it last year and the bearings, brushes etc were all changed, not sure I want to go through the trouble of doing it again. Spotted that a Brise replacement is £240 ish, before their delivery fee which was quite expensive last year when I got the internals. May have to bite the bullet and replace with new, I already think I have someone interested in buying this burnt out one I have.
  23. Afternoon All, I was out in the car last weekend and an awful grinding noise started emanating from the alternator. Having removed it there seems to be quite a bit of axial play at the pulley (1-2mm), it spins freely when pulled from the alternator body but grinds any other time. The alternator is a Brise unit, similar in appearance to the 5020 model on their website. I've now taken it apart and one of the brushes is shot as the rubber they are house in is baked. Think there may have been some overheating... Anyway, this has led to me wanting to replace with an original alternator as I do not track the car so can't see much benefit in having it. There are 2 questions from here though, first is are there any major mounting modifications I will need to make for this? Second, the car has a Cheesman 4-2-1 exhaust fitted as well as a tall tower that appears to be for engine oil (not sure of purpose) in the area of the alternator. Will post a picture later, but if anyone has similar mods could they advise if space is an issue for a regulator alternator. Sorry for the long post. Thanks Ryan
  24. Spotted parked up on Hale High Street today (22nd April). Lovely looking new car!

    Odds and Ends

Hi Peter, Just thought I'd let you know that I bought Gordon's car from him a year ago now so would be surprised if you got a response on these (he has since gone back to a Morgan!! ) . Sadly I didn't buy it with these particular parts so can't offer them to you.
