  1. Had it serviced at Oakmere earlier, not sure how expensive it would be to get them into finding the solution. My guess would be very but I could be wrong.
  2. Just remembered the cooling fan seems to be kicking in whilst the before the engine is up to temperature. Not sure if this could be significant. Both caterham and stack gauges were reading well below, around 40-60 degrees.
  3. Thanks Paul, will get in touch with them to see availability. Would be interested if there are any slightly further south, I'm on the border between Manchester and Cheshire.
  4. Morning All, I'm still having the same inconsistent fuel supply issue. 2 days ago the car drove fine along country and dual carriageway roads. Yesterday, after a brief motorway drive at 60mph (8 miles), I put my foot down on a country road and let the car rev out to around 6500rpm. As soon as I changed up I lost power. The engine then sat at a rough idle as I slowly cruised to a halt, occasionally picking up my accelerator position (full throttle, not comfortable!). Once I was at a standstill the engine was still idling roughly at around 700rpm with a knocking noise from around the exhaust side. Following my last plea for help I checked the fuel breathers and all seem clear. Opened the fuel cap this time to see if that corrected the issue whilst the engine was running, to no avail (though my problems did give the local kids a good laugh). So I'm now looking at taking it into anyone around the North West that would be recommended to look at a K-Series. With the way the car is I'm reluctant to travel too far, it has happened to me on the motorway before and the hard shoulder is definitely not a safe place in a Caterham. Any recommendations or advice gratefully accepted. Thanks Ryan
  5. Sorry for the thread resurrection. Think I have this sorted now, removed and refitted the airline into the charcoal canister which seems to have helped. I assume this was blocked up. As for the hunting at idle, I've tried the tps reset and this doesn't seem to have solved much. Could a new one altogether fix this?
  6. My memory was strained by the time I got round to posting, so the green probably turned into black. Definitely an all white helmet though. That's a decent length of journey (assuming you were coming down from Leyland) during boring driving hours. I'm sure the challenge of full aero made it much more interesting though!
  7. Running full aero in some pretty miserable weather, hats off to you.
  8. Think I've managed to trace the correct pipe through the transmission tunnel to a large cylinder mounted just in front of the drivers side footwell (rhd). Would this be the canister and if so what's the purpose of the electrical connection on top? Has anyone removed this before? Thanks Ryan
  9. Yeah I'm pretty sure it's a one way valve. Once it gets above the diff it's pretty difficult to distinguish which one it is, but I'm assuming it must run down to the engine bay. If I find this grey canister I'll cut it and make the modification from the workshop note you sent through Tom
  10. Will take a look for the charcoal canister but it is heading up to the engine bay. Any idea where abouts it would be and approx. size? This breather I'm pretty sure is the one causing my grief because as soon as I removed it from the filler neck there was an air rush.
  11. Makes sense to carry this out whilst running, will try this next time. Taken a further look at the second breather line and this seems to be some very strange setup. /sites/default/files/images/users/32821/Car%20Breather%202.JPG This is the best photo I can get looking up at the boot floor. The valve is there but then the breather continues above the diff and towards the front of the car. I have the note from TomB on what the setup should be which is a long departure from what I'm seeing. So before I start to cut anything, does anyone understand where this could be going to? The fuel return on the other side of the tank seems to be in place and takes a similar route so I'm left a little perplexed.
  12. Oh yeah sorry, lifting the latch on the aero cap then restarting the car seemed to help things until the next time I accelerated and then the jumping started again.
  13. Bit of an update Managed to take out the breather from the top of the tank (under the boot) and seemed clear. Tried to remove the other but this seems like a much longer task... There's a white circular item in the line which I'm supposing is the valve fitted, but beyond this the usual rubber fuel hose becomes a thin tube the thickness of an electrical cable. At the fuel tank this goes back into a regular fuel line and into the tank. Drove into work today and noticed the issue still happening but under acceleration and when going up hill, so assume it is this second breather at the front of the tank causing the problem. On a separate one, when the problem occurred I opened up the filler cap and had the anticipated air rush. However as my breather lines go back into the filler neck, should my cap not allow air through when locked in order to relieve any pressure? Sorry for the lack of basic understanding, but this is one of the reasons I got the car so am determined to fix. Thanks
  14. Would I get this when just stopping at the petrol station to refuel rather than when the engine dies out? Every time I refuel as soon as I lift the latch covering the key hole I can hear a rush of air. It doesn't feel like it's trying to blow out when this happens. Fuel cap is black with caterham on it in white which I think is inscribed from memory. Seems to fit the description of an aero cap. I'll check it for any holes drilled in. Only other thing I can think of is I have to trickle fuel in as the pump clicks out, which would agree with the build up of pressure.
  15. The only way I can think of checking the direction of the air flow is a piece of towel around the filler cap. Is there a difference in sound though? I'm hoping this is the problem but not sure why I don't get the same problem again after the engine has died once
  16. Cheers Tom, for the sake of a few pounds I'd rather fit the valve to save and fuel leakage issues. Might even fix the embarrassing hunting at idle that I can't seem to shift. Never a good look at traffic lights
  17. Thanks very much everyone. I'm now up in the lakes without the car so can't have a try, but when I get to the petrol station to refuel there does seem to be a vacuum when removing the filler cap every time. This is no matter whether it's a long or short trip. Im guessing this is all pointing to a blocked fuel tank breather. Thankfully doesn't sound like an expensive fix. Will try the TPS reset too, thanks for outlining the procedure Tom and SM25T. I've got a master battery cut off, will I need to do this with the ignition on? This forum is amazing by the way, there's no way I'd get such a quick response anywhere else! Thanks everyone. Hoping over time I can give the same help to someone else in my position
  18. Morning all, hoping someone may be able to help me with a problem that is becoming increasingly frustrating. Over the last couple of weeks, every time I take the Caterham out there have been sudden drops of throttle response when driving along (feels a bit like a misfire but have never driven a car that does so can't say for sure). When I'm out for over half an hour or so this lack of response gets more frequent and longer, until eventually the engine dies out. Then once I've left the car for around 5 minutes it seems to be fine, with very very little to no throttle drops. This happened on an A-road to Wales and yesterday on the M6, the latter occasion prompting me to turnaround and get my daily. I'm surprised as I drove back from Surrey to Cheshire when I bought it with no such problem. The car hunted at idle when I bought it, 1,200-1600rpm which was never an issue. However when this problem is occurring I get no hunting and the car idles at around 1,200 constant unless it's about to cutout. Car was serviced at caterham dealership and I have cleaned the air filter, other than that the engine hasn't been touched in my ownership. It's a 1.4 k series roadsport with a cheesman manifold, k&n air filter and apollo tank being the only engine modifications. Any help on what the cause may be would be much appreciated, as this is starting to get genuinely dangerous. Thanks Ryan
  19. I'm guessing it's just coincidence that both of us have the same car. I'll carry on and ignore for now as it doesn't seem like a common issue and has no other notable effects.
  20. It's only once stationary I can hear it, to be honest I wouldn't be able to over the exhaust with the engine running. The rate of deceleration seems to change how far it sounds like it's 'swinging' though, and how long the noise carries on for. Maybe I'm just concerning myself needlessly as I haven't noticed any impact when driving.
  21. My thought was also just fuel but the sound is too consistent to be fuel sloshing around, no movement in the fuel gauge. It's more of a swinging around noise.
  22. After any length of drive in the car, no matter how slowly I make my way up our ever so slightly uphill drive, I get a pendulum swinging noise from the rear of the car for around 30-45 seconds. Also noticed this at petrol stations too. Could anyone advise if this is normal? I've been under the car recently to look at the diff but there was nothing obvious there. Thanks
  23. Around 14.00 ish. I was sat in the lay-by extremely jealous that I wasn't in the Caterham as the weather was perfect and I know the roads around there are great!
