  1. Jonathan, I think it's running well, others may think differently, it's not coughing and spluttering or miss firing and there are no overheating issues. I don't think I've got data from previous tests, I'll have a look, but was told last year that it only just passed.
  2. Thanks for the quick reply! I don't know for certain that the oil was up to full temperature but apparently the water was. The ECU is the Caterham Supersport one. The exhaust did have leaks in the system but I've just had all the cracks welded up, could that be causing some confusion somewhere?
  3. My car, a 1997 1.6 K Series Supersport, failed it's MOT on emissions yesterday. I'm not unduly concerned about the MOT fail as it should be a visual smoke test only so, as there isn't any, I'll go back and educate them later. What does concern me is the emissions being so far away from the target. Is this a sign that the lambda sensor has failed, or that something else is amiss, or is it what you'd expect from a car of this age without a cat?
  4. Thanks to Rob I've just had a call to say I'm in! Much appreciated as I've only done one so far and I'm at a wedding this weekend and can't make Harewood. I'm now feeling guilty as I'm taking the place of someone more experienced!
  5. I got my acknowledgment on 1st June and I'm S2.
  6. Hi Andy, I managed exactly the same time as you last weekend and I was half a second slower than you last year. Last year I had 14" wheels with Uniroyal Rain Experts, a five speed box, Quaife ATB diff with a 3.62 CWP, a 1/2" front anti roll bar and a windscreen. This year I had 13" wheels with A539s, a six speed box, a plated 3.62 diff, a 5/8" anti roll bar and an aeroscreen. When you also take into account that I have more power than you I can only assume you're already a much better driver than me and that similar mods would reduce your times. As far as my performance is concerned, I can no longer blame the car! Chris
  7. Thanks for the replies. I've managed to remove the switch and on closer inspection it looks like there were originally two connections. I've got 12v at the original wire and when I ground it the reverse light comes on so, once I have a new switch, can I just connect one side to ground and the other to the 12v?
  8. My '97 super sport had a five speed gearbox and the reverse light switch had a presss stud type connector. I've now swapped gear box and the switch on the new box has one bullet connector. I assumed the only difference was the connector so swapped the the press stud for a bullet, connected it up, but it doesn't work. Was I expecting too much? Anyone have any ideas how I need to wire it up as all the wiring diagrams I've found have two connections on the reverse light switch. Thanks in advance, Chris
  9. I know this has been covered recently but I'm really struggling. Why does every little job take three times longer than expected?! So far I've tried filling the hole with grease and whacking a bolt in but the grease manages to find a way out before the bearing. I've also tried using a rawlbolt, gripping on the inside of the bearing, and whacking something attached to the rawlbolt. I then modified the rawlbolt to locate on the back of the bearing but that didn't work either. Is it possible to use a bearing puller? Am I missing something obvious? I'm seriously considering leaving it in there but there's a nagging doubt at the back of my mind that the rawlbolt might have damaged the bearing so would prefer to remove it. Any suggestions gratefully received. Cheers, Chris
  10. Thanks for all the replies. I've ordered the spring and post as I've never done this before and it sounds like a very fine line between the correct tension and too tight. Cheers, Chris
  11. Thanks Ian. I've read that in the manual before but it doesn't mention how you know when the tension is correct. I thought there would be a more scientific method to determine when the tension was correct as both too tight and too loose can cause problems. How much deflection of the belt do you get between the two pulleys? Cheers, Chris
  12. I've changed the cambelt on my 1.6 SS K-Series but can't find anywhere how to set the tension correctly. It's a manual tensioner so there's no spring to assist. Any help gratefully received. Cheers, Chris
  13. Brilliant! I'll use any old foam then. Thanks Richard
  14. I assumed it had to be the same as the roll bar padding i.e. High density, closed cell and fire resistant. Is that not the case?
  15. Where do people get the padding to tape onto their roll bar mounted headrests? I've found this:- http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/seat-accessories/bsci-ener-core-ec50-foam-sheet It looks like the real deal but at £78 for an 18"x36" sheet I can't help thinking there's something more cost effective available. Any suggestions gratefully received. Cheers, Chris
  16. I've got a set of five 14" minilite style wheels. Four have Uniroyal Rain Experts that are around 18 months old with about 3k miles on them and the spare has something else with loads of tread on it.
  17. Hi Neil, I'm near Nantwich, Cheshire but I agreed a sale on it yesterday through eBay and it should be collected today. I'll let you know if he doesn't turn up. Cheers, Chris
  18. I've just ordered some from Brown and Gammons.
  19. Dave, It's the perfect size for an S3 but too small for an SV I'm afraid. Chris
  20. I've had this trailer for just under a year and I'm selling it as I've just bought a covered trailer. It was serviced and the tyres were replaced just before I bought it. It includes a winch, tyre rack, spare wheel and a composite centre board but the not the hitch lock shown in some of the photos. I'm offering it here before I put it on Ebay as there don't seem to be any Minnos around at the moment. How does £1000 sound?
  21. While I've got my engine and gearbox out I thought it's a good opportunity to fit a lightened flywheel. Are there any out there, lurking, unwanted, in the back of people's garages? Cheers, Chris
  22. I'd like the headrest and support please.
  23. That was me! On my way home from work. I didn't use it today as it was wet when I left this morning but all day I've been wishing I had!
