  1. The blue book doesn't appear to mention 'if fitted' but I may be looking in the wrong place. My current options are to leave my current system as is and wing it to see what happens or take it all out but that feels like a backward step in terms of safety.
  2. Can anyone confirm what the latest regulations are for plumbed in fire extinguishers as the way I'm reading the Sprint and Hillclimb specific regulations the K.3.1.2 regulations are recommended not compulsory. I don't particularly want the cost and hassle of fitting a new system so would prefer to leave my current system in place. Cheers, Chris
  3. It depends what you're after. If you think you'll be happy with 148bhp and the heavier Caterham lightweight flywheel then go for it. However, if you opt for the F160 with the ultralight flywheel you'll not only have over 160bhp and a super responsive engine you'll also have an upgrade path in future should the bank manager turn their back again! It's also worth mentioning that Caterham don't fit upgraded valve springs with their 310 cams. In answer to your question 'is it worth it?', YES definitely but you knew I'd say that!
  4. #7 The F160 was much sweeter running with more low down torque than the 310. My 310 had 148bhp when I got it and the F160 had 163bhp, although I never experienced that on the road as I had it limited to 155bhp for the speed championship. My car started as a 270 and Caterham carried out the 310 upgrade, but kept the standard Ford flywheel, before I bought it so the ultralight flywheel made a huge difference. I think the ideal starting point is a 270 as Stuart's F160 gives so much more than a 310 and you save money by not having paid more for a 310 in the first place. His cams have more lift than the Caterham 310 cams and he sets the valve clearances correctly. This is my car converted to F160 before it was restricted.
  5. I had a 310r and started with the ultralight flywheel and clutch. I then had the cat in the can exhaust fitted followed by the F160 cams and remap. I was then contemplating adding throttle bodies to take it to F175 but decided that life's too short so opted for the F190. In addition to Silverstone, at Motorsport Days Live, I also took it around Bedford Autodrome yesterday to test the new windage tray that Stuart had fitted. Needless to say it worked a treat with hardly any oil in the catch tank. Compared to the 310r I started with the car is now transformed, it pulls and pulls, I can't believe it's my car and the only thing holding it back is me! You know you want to do it so just find a way to make it work. It's worth every penny and the after sales service is second to none.
  6. I'm interested Simon and have sent you a pm. Cheers, Chris
  7. There's no reserve list for Sunday at Harewood so if you missed the entry you could have my place.
  8. I've had to pull out of Harewood this weekend but had previously arranged to collect a set of wheels while I was there. Would anyone have room to collect them for me please? I bought them from a club member and he's delivering them to Harewood on Sunday around lunchtime. I could then collect them from Curborough, all being well. Cheers, Chris
  9. The Final Instructions say there's a scrutineering declaration to be signed but the link they provide takes you to the login for your entry. Can someone tell me how to find the scrutineering declaration please. Cheers, Chris
  10. I'm having a minor upgrade at Premier Power in March so my camshafts, valve springs and catch tank will be available. The camshafts were fitted to a 270 a couple of years ago and have done very few miles since. I had upgraded valve springs fitted last year, something Caterham don't do as part of their 310 upgrade, so they've done fewer miles than the camshafts. The catch tank is the plastic Caterham one. They'll be at Premier Power so you could book in with Stuart and have them fitted in April, possibly. How does £700 sound.
  11. I've got one but I don't need to keep it!
  12. Can I have the extra small one please Graham. My wife will love it!!
  13. After an exhaust upgrade I have a spare cat from a 2015 car with 3300 miles if you're interested.
  14. I'll take these please if still available.
  15. Andrew Hough has just listed one on FB market place.
  16. Sound advice chaps, thank you. I think I'm getting bored (of gardening) so I'm looking for things to fiddle with!
  17. I bought another caterham last year, before I'd sold one, and decided I'd sell the old one in the spring. However, circumstances now aren't ideal for selling anything so I'm wondering if I should upgrade the power so, once we're free to roam again, I can have a bit of fun in something more powerful than I'm used to. The current spec is as follows:- 2001 Roadsport A with the handbrake under the dash and no carpets. 1.6 k series super sport with ported head, dry sump, forged pistons and power speed exhaust - 152bhp. Six speed gearbox and ZF 3.92 LSD. I have a set of Piper 1320 cams on my bench so I'm wondering if I should fit them along with a mappable ECU but I'm not sure what kind of power I'd get using the standard plenum and 52mm throttle body. I'd obviously get more power fitting Jenvey throttle bodies but the cost is prohibitive unless I get lucky and find some second hand. I ultimately want to sell it so want to keep the costs reasonable but would like any mods to make it more desirable when I do sell. Any thoughts and ideas greatfully received. Cheers, Chris
  18. Thanks for all the suggestions. I now have a couple of options so have entered. See you all there!
  19. Thanks Shaun and Chris, I'll look in to those two options. Justin, It states specifically in the SRs 'no camping onsite or on Potash Lane' so I don't think security will let us anywhere near that carpark!
  20. I'm undecided whether or not to do the Hethel Sprint, for two reasons:- 1. It's 3 1/4 hours away but probably more than 4 hours factoring in traffic and toilet stops. 2. You can't camp at the track. I know you can't help with the traffic and my toilet habits but can anyone suggest places to stop very close to the track. I don't need facilities, I have everything in my van, I literally just want to stop, pull the handbrake on and get into bed. Oh, it'd be nice to find my trailer and car are still there in the morning too! Cherrs, Chris
