  1. Yes I've done it to replace the park switch in the motor albeit on an SV. A tad fiddly but once removed it is understood how to get it back in if required.
  2. Thanks all, Caterham dental floss now on order:)
  3. Thanks for that Jonathan, does the glass come out and can you get new glass?
  4. My old mirror has a lot of the silvering coming so looks tatty. What's the best way of getting the mirror off to fit a new one?......apart from going aero:)
  5. Hi, we won't be going on the tour but as we live in the Aberdeen area we'll probably meet up with the group at some point. Better to leave the accommodation for people coming from further South. If anyone would like some tips as to where to go and on what roads, I'm sure myself or one of the other members living up here would be happy to help out. We have seen groups of 20ish of various makes and models of vehicle driving about up here and that's simply unmanageable, splitting into groups of say 3-5 setting off at once makes it much simpler. Suffice to say, we feel very lucky to live up here and have local access to some of the best roads in the country. Looking forward to everyone coming up.
  6. Forgot to add, clean all the parts after removal and emery down any burrs.
  7. Hi, I'd suggest leaving the silencer on and tightened up. Then use it CAREFULLY, to provide a bit more leverage and BFI. You can use the elbow on the back of the silencer to give a bit of rotation to it all. One refit you can use some stainless anti-seize compound on the four pipes and end of the bypass into the silencer. Mine comes off pretty quickly each time now.
  8. Hi, here is are previous postings of mine, hopefully they will help https://www.lotus7.club/forum/sat-navphone-mountings https://www.lotus7.club/forum/techtalk/dead-power-socket-rear-harness-2009-sigma And as others have said, the cigarette lighter option.
  9. Hi Derek, I have an intercom with headsets and they dampen down the noise quite a bit. For solo driving I have made to measure earplugs from a Boots with a hearing centre in it. They are tremendous but you can still hear the birds. Compound injected into the ears, when set they are removed and used as moulds for making the plugs. They also have interchangeable filters to remove more or less noise. £110 at the time a few years ago but perfect.
  10. Purple red permanent live ignition on or off. red/white on and off with side lights.
  11. Purple/red and black. single connector next to it which is red and white.
  12. In breaking news, just remembered taking a few photos when I took the tunnel cover off the other week. Checked the photos, hey presto the t shaped connector is tywrapped to the chassis just behind the gearstick. Removed cover just now. Checked the voltage, live all the I.e. not switched. I'll post a photo later on.
  13. Definitely not there on this one, have hunted high and low including removing boot floor.
  14. Thanks for that Jonathan. I did have the "T" piece harness in for the high level brake light but you are right, power does indeed come on to the connectors I'm talking about when the brake pedal is pressed. There is a dotted line on the wiring diagram for the power socket so not sure whether this means that bit of the harness may or may not be fitted.
  15. Hi, just learned the other day about the power socket spade connectors on the back of the harness near the light connections. The black is earth and has continuity with earth. The green and purple appears dead. The 10 amp fuse is ok. Any suggestions where else to look? I was going to connect the intercom to it rather than keep the wire that runs from the cigarette lighter at the front. Thanks.
  16. Hi, just thinking about my next 2nd Annual service which will occur at 64,000 miles and 13 years after registration. The owners manual calls for the change of brake hoses every four years, fuel lines every six years. Have people done these things that regularly? Do you know why they are recommended? Obviously due to the mileage and age they should have been done but to my knowledge they haven't been. Answers on a post card to.... Thanks for any advice.
  17. Hi, I'd prefer to sell the whole package and make a bit more space in the garage.
  18. Hi, I've just changed to the Caterham LED rear light set so have the following for sale: - They are not bright and shiny due to being from a 2009 car but perfectly serviceable. Standard Caterham lights Fog light Reversing light Number plate light – LED type - relatively new (complete with metal bracket) 2 x rear light cluster Just Add Lightness High level brake light – LED type - relatively new £100 inc. postage, £85 to collect.
  19. Haven't managed to resolve this but my rev counter and fuel gauge...as yesterday...don't work from leaving the garage. 3 miles later, everything hunky dory. Both working fine. Haven't been able to translate the wiring diagram to the specific wire ends and where specifically they are fastened to the car. Probably a common earth problem, common connector. 2009 Sigma 150. Normally only get it at the start of the season until the weather warms up....stars align or something else intangible! Have driven the last number of weeks and not an issue.....until yesterday.
  20. I’ve been looking for a while of a better way to mount my Garmin Sat Nav or phone, I might finally have come to a solution. I wanted it to be waterproof (based in Scotland) and also, I prefer to use my phone with MyRoute-App. Reason being the route planning on the PC is much easier, the routes transfer to the phone more easily than onto the Garmin and finally the displayed info is better than Google maps or Garmin. The phone is an iPhone 8. Apologies for the suboptimal photos but you can get the idea. The bits I got were: - - Case from Ultimate Addons - Case adapter from BuyBits.com - Windscreen suction mount was the 17mm ball standard Garmin windscreen mount. Problems solved: - - Case is definitely waterproof - Case works very well using the touchscreen of the phone, no need to open it - The cable entry at the bottom of the case wraps around the cable for water tightness and stops the cable vibrating out. - Short length of the windscreen mounting stops the phone from bouncing about too much - Assembly much lighter than the Garmin + its waterproof case + sunshield Problems created: - - It’s not the smallest assembly but being tall it doesn’t interfere with my vision through the windscreen too much. There are a vast number of different mountings for cars, bikes, push bikes on both the above sites so worth a look in general.
  21. I have a super light flywheel, engine idles nicely around 900 rpm. Pulling away requires slightly more concentration than with a heavy flywheel, particularly hill starts but no real problem when used to it. Engine revs much quicker than with previous flywheel. Maybe someone couldn't get used to the flywheel and associated clutch control and turned the wick up on the idle. I did change the master cylinder at one point which made the clutch control easier compared to standard.
  22. Hi, note of caution on replacement nosecones, I had a right old battle with Caterham regarding the supply of a nose cone for a 2009 SV after a Spanish woman reversed into the car. Her insurance paid for a new nosecone, I got one off Caterham specifying the model and year....the nose cone was miles out, turned out it fitted a friends CSR perfectly, tried it on another local's car...no chance. Width, height, bonnet profile all wrong. Caterham wouldn't have it that the nosecone was wrong. Ended up taking the old nose to a fibreglass specialist who did a great job repairing it and amazingly a paint shop was next door to him so got it repainted there.
