  1. I have a pair of slightly damaged viper blue ones off a 2009 Sigma SV. Can send photos.
  2. Morning, out with seven other cars for the first post lockdown meet up since the release of the Scottish lockdown. Very impressed with the lowered headlights on a few of the cars. Mine is a 2009 Roadsport 150SV which I assume is a metric chassis? Tried searching through the forum via the Google search but could get the info I wanted directly. Which brackets do you need off Caterham/other? Is there an issue with headlamp size when using Caterham or other brackets? Mine are 6 1/2" over the outside of the bowl. Any hassles you need to know about?
  3. Also check the alternator/starter motor/battery connections, plus the cleanliness of the earthing bolt by the battery. This is the one with about four wires on it. The nut fell off my starter motor connection on a run out and gave all the same symptoms. I now know a little tiny bit about the electrics now as a result. Mine's a Sigma 150 with F175 upgrade.
  4. Car booked in for oil service at end of next week so will ge wheels balanced at least.
  5. Hi, like everyone else, haven't driven the car during lockdown. Did a 250 mile round trip on small Scottish roads last week, no issues. Today did one 40 mile stretch of dual carriageway at 70 mph. There seemed to be more than a normal vibration around 70 mph felt through the seat rather than steering wheel. Got out at one point to make sure there were still four wheels on the car....there was! Car has done 60,000 miles, diff refurbished 15,000 miles ago. Did it always vibrate at this point but I've forgotten over lockdown, propshaft joint(s) worn, rear wheel bearings, weights fallen off one of the back wheels? Normal roads for me are where the car is seldom in the same gear or at the same speed for very long.
  6. Mine is a 2009 Sigma and has the speed sensor gear on the driver's side hub. It may be that the speed sensor itself is not fitted. You could take a picture of the drive'r sid hub from the front and it can be marked up what you are looking for.
  7. I forgot to say that I have a set of standard mirrors which I'm not going to use anymore. Send me a pm if interested.
  8. The standard mirrors vibrate too much for me, not enough angle of view when driving on the continent. Changed to the Spa convex ones. Vast improvement. I do carry two Allen keys to tighten them up if someone knocks them. It does mean slackening the bracket off slightly to the get the cut down Allen key onto the inside one by the side screen.
  9. I got the new £1.08 RS item, fitted it and it's not all that audible with the engine running on idle so I'm guessing that other types of buzzer have been fitted over the years which must be a lot louder. The STS self-cancelling module on Amazon is:- https://www.amazon.co.uk/Smart-Turn-System-automatic-cancelling/dp/B06XD71KSW
  10. Hi, having had two Caterhams over the last 11 years, I can't remember hearing a bleeper in either. Took the opportunity yesterday to have a look for the buzzer on my 2009 Roadsport 150 Sigma SV. As mentioned above, it was jammed inside the loom above the steering column. In my case, one of the cables was snapped off the buzzer so that's why it wasn't working. Have lashed out on another couple from RS to test it whether it is indeed as annoying as everyone says or indeed helpful. My indicators normally self cancel when I turn the engine off:) 12 mm diameter x 8.5 mm deep, so hard to find in the dark in the middle of the harness whilst upside down in the footwell. The part number is from RS Components RS617-3081 £1.08 each. https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/magnetic-buzzer-components/6173081/
  11. Great timing thanks Mark, just received JAL high level brake light the other day, fitting this morning. Changing what is a racing rain light used as the high level brake light for the JAL. I'm sure that a few less local people will now be wearing sunglasses in case they pull up behind me at traffic lights. I'm sure I've seen the paint bubbling on a few bonnets when I've applied the brakes in the past.
  12. Thanks Paul, I'll do that. Probably by robbing some tube out of the Eazilbleed kit. Now have boot floor out to clean everything from the top. Had plenty of POR15 in the garage so can get after the rust on the chassis rails.
  13. Morning all, another day under the car cleaning the rear and painting chassis tubes. The driver's side where the diff breather comes out is caked with muck/oil mist...or was. The diff breather consists of a short, 75mm, rubber tube tail. What have people done regarding a diff breather catch bottle or longer tail? Photos would be appreciated. Thanks.
  14. Thanks for the tip. Have just used a power sander the remove some of the web so will see how that looks tomorrow once the paint has dried on the roll bar. The sketch above does seem to suggest that the web is quite deep but it only seems to be 5 mm high. Given what it says in the text i.e. remove a maximum of 5 mm, then that would make the web flush with the rest of the casing. Start one job, six others appear, the chassis tubes look like they need a fair bit of sanding down and repainting so that can be the job for the next few days whilst I'm in that area.
  15. Covered in section 5, page 2 of the manual two places on the diff which should be removed. One bit at the top at the back and one bit on the central web at the front in way of the roll bar. Thanks for the tip Paul.
  16. Thanks Paul, will RTFM in the morning, maybe my original was ok but the exchange on hadn't been doctored.
  17. Hi, if anyone has a spare minute, could you have a look under the car and see what the clearance is between the rear anti-roll bar and the centre web of the diff please. Just taken the bar out to check the bushes (both sides goosed) and refurbish the drop links. The bar is touching the diff if not slightly bent down over, signs of the powder coating being rubbed off where it touches the diff. The car is a 2009 Sigma 150 SV, everything standard. A couple of years ago I got an exchange diff from Road and Race. Are there slightly different casing sizes and shapes? Any other suggestion as to why it might be touching?
  18. Hi, swine of a job! I used an Eazibleed kit from Halfords. The plastic pipe of the right size to fit the bottle in the kit wasn't long enough. Struggled to get the right size but longer so I could see the bibles going into a collection jar. I think the valve is half turn rather than 1/4 turn. I found it extremely difficult to get my hand down from the top to get enough purchase on the valve to turn it. I managed to open it but then nearly exhausted all the fluid in the bottle before I could get the valve shut again. Managed it in the end but much less skin remaining on my hand. Are there any clever ideas or tools for turning the valve? It doesn't help having full size hands either. Also interested in hearing what this self bleed version is.
  19. I did find recently that the the inner longitudinal fold of the lowered floor towards the back on the driver's side had split. Not easy to see without the car up on a ramp. And yes it was letting water in. Only fixed it before Christmas so haven't been out in the car to see if that's the only place the water was coming from. Before anyone else says it, yes probable cause due to too many pies!

  21. Thanks for that Carlie. I think we may stay with what we have...I normally lose my wife for a couple of days every time she has to update it, fill in more forms etc. etc. Nearly as difficult as swapping gas and electric suppliers!
  22. Hi, no I haven't used the travel insurance fortunately. Due to certain medical conditions ( one being a Notherner) we have to get travel insurance via AllClear. Probably another long thread required on travel insurance and who does or doesn't cover what.
