  1. Yep great day yesterday, thanks to the team for a well organised event as always, only three weeks to the Brands GP sure we will be getting some more trackday fans from the novices days now , its a part of the club that has come on leaps and bounds as when I rejoined a few years back there was only 3 in that year and to be honest i feel more comfortable driving my Caterham on a L7C trackday than i would on a busy M or A road , much more respectful driving standards here's a link for the photographer http://www.xtreme-sports-photography.com/home
  2. 2 x CR500 175 55 13 approx 4mm tread depth , date stamped year 3113 / 1014 2 x ZZR 215 55 13 approx 4mm tread depth , date stamped year 2711 / 3412 sold to tjuniper will post pics on here later £10 each pick up from Upmnster or Wickford Essex or at the Silverstone or Brands track days Mark
  3. did look for the old connections with no joy . but I'm going to work with RJ's diagram and kind offer of help on this as its also the upgrade and like the idea of controlling the temp through the Ecu and its what i have and with a little work should work out well. will get to sorting this at the weekend Anthony thanks for the video link and going beyond the call of duty in those temperatures! that's exactly the same as mine just with my wires going to the wrong side of the battery and the wire going to my fan cut at the relay end. Slipper man didn't get mine from S&C and had for about 3 years now. Interesting what you say about controlling the temp around 74 deg C hopefully when all reconnected and if the temps are still set in the ecu can see what temp my fan comes in at
  4. Stu the cutout on mine is 310 x 75 and doesn't feel flimsy at all with no reinforcement although mine is positioned a bit higher than your pic in post 1
  5. Sure its there somewhere did have had a look but couldn't see anything, waiting on a wire tracer that's in the post as its the wire from fuse 3 that i was thinking of using for the override. With the fan on/off temp controlled through the ECU
  6. Hi Mark I don't have the normal rad thermo switch in the rad, i only have the stack temp sender and the ecu temp sensor brown plug (post 12 pic) so a bit different to the norm the stack sender does look very much like the thermo switch but has been a bit of a red herring
  7. Well yes always open advice on where I'm going wrong with this and what i would need to do, as my two wires ends from 30 and 86 are permanently connected to each other and go to the battery i presumed this to be how it was wired origionally if they need to be separate and 86 go through a fuse that's good advice and what I need. as for switching to pin 85 wire from 85 to override then to earth ? Edit: overide to 87 on relay might be the way to go?
  8. Stu that's how mine is set up so can check tonight and get back to you with the size cutout i have
  9. thanks RJ. So it clear i have a lot of wiring going to the wrong places relay 86 goes to ecu pin 33 - wrong, relay 85 goes to battery -ve - wrong, relay 30 thru 25A fuse to battery -ve - wrong fan override directly to battery +ve with no fuse - very wrong so here's my plan relay 85 to ECU pin 33, relay 86 to battery +ve, relay 30 thru fuse 25A to battery +ve, relay 87 to fan now for the override switch use the green wire from the existing fuse No3 (rad fan) which i need to trace but hoping its disconnected i then connect to the override switch then wire on to the fan, this way I still have the manual operation for the fan until I can get the ecu temp on/off settings checked. Am i seeing things correctly here?
  10. does it look like i have the two wires going to the -ve battery that should go to the +ve side through the IGN switch just trying to follow Ians post 43 diagram, maybe the two wires have been put to the wrong side of the battery at some point by mistake
  11. Hi All, so my fan is wired directly to the battery so need to correct this by wiring to the kill switch or ignition maybe ? on the ecu control side of things its wired ecu pin 33 to connector 86 on relay--- connector 30 on relay to 25A fuse to battery -ve--- connector 85 on relay to battery -ve with connector 87 on relay disconnected questions are the 25a fuse is on the earth wire , is this correct? how would i wire the override switch in do i take the fan +ve blue wire to connector 87 on relay Ian's diagram post 43 shows going to the +ve side through the ignition switch where mine is wired to the -ve side
  12. hoping to get on and work on this over the weekend, i was a bit surprised that my relay set up on the bulkhead is quite standard on the R400 / 500 cars but mine is wired with orange wire from pin 33 do you still have the mbe as thought you mentioned emerald there is a guide on here that mentions K3 using pin 6 for the relay but on mine i unplugged and took the plug apart exposing all the wires and found the numbers moulded in around the wire entry points. i have seen now relays with built in fuses so might be a tidier solution
  13. Thanks Ian that diagram shows me what i need to do . will check out if the dash switch goes to the relay suspect not looking at the wire colours. its been done with very thick non auto wire so was wondering what size cable should i use?
  14. so didn't have a lot of time but managed to trace the pin 33 wire from the ecu to this relay and fuse block on the bulkhead with one wire just cut and hanging free all a bit of a mess so probably would like to try to tidy up and get back to how it would have been wired origionally Must admit i cant find any wire diagram that shows a relay from pin 33 on ecu so was thinking of following this in the guides section on here ecu controlled fan with override switch page 2 Anthony is the fan on your car wired through fuse 3 in the fuse box with a relay there as well ?
  15. Thanks for all your efforts on this Anthony, looking "here" seems similar to the emerald in that it states goes to a relay to switch the fan on will check out and report back on here
  16. standard ecu Anthony , did see your link to the manual so thanks for that
  17. Does only operate manually from the override switch so maybe disabled the fan by choice for extra power . which would be good if everything is in place but just needs locating and reconnecting, feel like I'm getting my head around this a bit now. with what you say Simon checks out with the wiring diagrams the green/blue wire going to the stack via pin 7 on the grey plug which displays the water temp correctly on the stack ..all good So the brown plug "talks" to the ecu pin 2 which has on and off temps set but would need to get a laptop connected to verify if they are set up correctly as could have been disabled by choice from here, then looking at this (diagram link) pin 33 rad fan relay drive , is this the output from the ecu to turn the fan on via a relay ? if it is then perhaps a good starting point to tracking the wire to the fan. umm... am i really getting my head around this ?
  18. Thanks all . So sounds like I have a bit of work ahead of me but the cable tracer sounds a great help. Thinking it was probably a quick fix with the override switch , will report back on here when I have an update thanks for the wiring diagrams Jonathan
  19. Touching the two wires from the switch together didn't start the fan so checking the voltage across the wires and get a reading of 6.3 v. Although did momentarily flick to 12.5 v as the ignition key was turned on then steady at 6.3v not sure about the override switch as doesn't look like it is wired in the conventional way as works whichever fuse I remove So that's a bit of a concern ,
  20. when zoomed in to pic the 2 wires looks green/blue and black , only looked on the wire diagrams on here under guides so thanks Jonathan PM sent
  21. thanks understood re the shorting only other pic i took this morning
