  1. 2008 Caterham Sigma Supersport iRS (Independent Rear Suspension) A super rare opportunity to purchase our demonstration iRS 7. The car is fitted with our unique independent rear suspension system. The de Dion tube is a thing of the past. All the benefits of the CSR chassis compliance yet retaining the very nimble narrow chassis of the S3. This car began life as an academy car. When I purchased this as my basis for the development of the iRS we always knew it was going to be a full refurbishment. A complete skin off refurbishment in 2021 all completed at Arch Motors. We then proceeded to fit the iRS kit along with way too many extras. This car had to be special yet very drivable and not extreme. Nearly all of these parts were new in 2022 Sigma 1.6 Supersport spec. MBE 9A4 - new 2022 - unlocked and mapped by Steve Greenald. CORE 1 way dampers - Digressive front pistons. Hyperco Springs Transport LSD - 3.92 Ford Standard brakes - Mintex 1144 pads front and rear Mix of copper and braided break lines Brand new Caterham 8 spoke wheels 6” and 8” ZZS tyres Carbon Carbon Carbon Dashboard Front wings Rear wings Tillet B6 seats Caterham 4 point harness Lowered floors both sides FIA Roll bar Wrapped in 3M Crayon Grey with orange stripes New fuel pump and sender 5 speed Range of new dials and gauges Go Race quick release New CAT New Caterham polished silencer No heater Soft Bits half hood Doors New boot cover Just serviced and comes with MOT The iRS installation retains all standard brakes, dampers and drive shafts and is therefore reversible if ever wanted. Once you drive this car and experience the benefits of the system you won’t want to ever return and remain one of the growing fleet of cars. Please add up the cost of all the extras and add them to the base price of a comparable Supersport and you will see how much of a bargain this car represents. 2. Obviously, I am going to counter the 2 comments above about "expensive bling dampers". I would welcome the opportunity to demonstrate the difference.

  4. Congratulations Charlie. Another year down - good competition and at least we had one proper dry run on the last event. I hope 2024 has a better weather forecast!
  5. Absolutely this is possible. i have seen it happen first hand and it all happened with the driver just holding the steering wheel so tight as they went into the barrier! I have also had two cars into the workshop with twisted lower shafts but have no knowledge of how it happened.
  6. Do check for a twist in the lower steering column. You would be surprised how easy it is to twist it a little. SO get it checked for alignment and you should be able to see if your corrections have missaligned the front wheels. If the column has twisted then both wheels will have been offset to one side. Then your alignment fix may be setting you running straight but toe missaligned. Hope you follow.
  7. What a considerable bargain. I can not even think about purchasing them new from the manufacturer at this price!
  8. At least my diagnosis was correct. There was no fix to be achieved on the day unfortunately. it's amazing how quick you can get removing an engine with practice
  9. Hi Alan Having sold a few helmets in the early days of 7 Tips Racing including the budget brands. Once I finally got to try one on myself I decided I didn't want to sell them any longer. I completely understand we all have different budgets and my first kid was an OMP. It was great. You are probably closest of all of us to one of the best places to go and try some different brands out. Merlin Motorsport at Castle Combe always keep a good range. Go and try some.
  10. Your dampers will be much much closer to optimal with the 150lb spring. 9" x 2.25" you are just over sprung currently. in the UK only Bilstein can service and revalve their own dampers.
  11. Hi Drakeman You want to try some 130/140 0r max 150lb springs on your car. You won't believe the improvement. 215 is way over sprung. IMHO.

    Prescott?

Has anyone else had issues signing on? I have both email confirmations of entry but when I visit the website and go to sign on it has nothing available. Will call them in the morning.
  13. It was always intended when I designed the percentage method that it would be based on %age against the class winner on the day. Too many variables to be against records. That was how the Novice should be calculated also.
  14. Give me a call next week and I will explain everything. last year we purchased a very expensive hydraulic spring testing dyno that has been enlightening. all I would say is you may get close with some ready reckoning math - I used to try - but you would be very surprised at the variance between springs even when new. Then you have age related sag to contend with also. I can happily recommend appropriate springs rates and or manufacturer. there is to my knowledge only one manufacturer who provides a lifetime warranty against any fail or sag and their springs can live and not be over stressed even when set coil bound. They have won every Indy500 for the past 57 years! Hyperco. It's the reason I use them. Any way call us and I will help out in any way I can. All advice is FOC. No sale pitch. Just talking aloud here but it may be an interesting task to test as many springs as possible FOC as a way of demonstrating the variability. Perhaps that's a winter project.
  15. Make sure you check the block height compared to the stroke required from the different manufacturers of the springs. There is a significant difference and you certainly do not want to go coil bound. For example on our Autograss customer cars we can run a 12" spring from Hyperco with lots to spare compared to another budget spring @ 16" open. it's just worth an ask.
  16. Both of these mounts were cast aluminium. we have since cleaned the "still intact" side up and both holes are cracked right through. interestingly it would seem that this was not down to corrosion between different metals. Both the Stella collets were free to be phished out with fingers.
  17. There are a few other errors also - not important at this time. Take a look at the overall Championship scores. No records broken yet some have +400% - thats not possible for the overall. My Class total is shown as 0 not the 100% it should be. None of that is urgent but if you are taking a look at other things .....
  18. I know the new event shelter will be at the Sprint but will the Club BBQ be there?
  19. All of you are welcome at any time to visit the shop for a technical visit/workshop tour. We have the Porsche Owners Club visiting next week. We could even run a virtual tour if someone had time to organise.
  20. Plain and simple. Wiper Motor and fittings for RHD S3 Returning my SLR to road spec.
