Weirdy
OK, I always thought minty had a massive fuel tank, but as I had never run it down to the red I wasn't really sure. These past few monthswhere cash has been tight, I haven't been topping of the tank after a blat and did 189 miles on what has to be a 35 litre tank, five of which is reserve. I have come to this stunning revalation as I only mamnged to squeeze 33 litres into the tank yesterday having run it as low as I dare...., (below the red line). Now I know I have asked this before, but I have all the figures wrong about fuel ammounts, hence the 7.5MPG at blat speeds... So 33 Litres and 189 miles? anyone? Y help as is as usual eternally appreciated.... Weirdy Its not the winning thats important, its the taking them apart.......
Mark Piper
"7.5MPG at blat speeds" - you clearly haven't been driving the car that hard then Howard 😬 I think I could get 20 mpg out of my SLR if I took it easy - dropped to about your 7.5 mpg level when on track (but if it's any consolation, I did 2 full tanks of fuel at Brands on Sunday in my VX, which is probably about 5 mpg)
Tony C
26mpg 33ltr = 7.26galls 189miles / 7.26galls = 26mpg 😬 BRG Brooklands SV 😬 It seems that perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away. Weirdy
Thanks chaps, I can say that Minty is more fuel efficient than the old Scoobi, (well shot of that), loverly to drive but the costs took all the fun out of it, but Minty makes up for it 100 fold... I did two tanks at Bedford..... oh and that 189 miles was mostly hard driving and occasional power band accelaration.... but nearly all in or arround 5k revs..... :-) Shes green shes mean shes the Minty machine.... blade_runner
I get about 25 mph on the road, and mines only 919cc's less than half that on track 'Pinky Pics' here

Lotus Boy
I get about 25 mph on the road Steve I have been a passenger in your car and know for a fact that you get more than 25 miles per hour out of your car 😬 Think 'tis me who hits about 25mph...any more than that and I risk getting her dirty 😬
mav
SV's run a 40 litre tank... when Mine shows on the red, I usually have about 7 litres left in the tank. I return between 28 and 35mpg on long runs, and about 12 mpg on track (I've got a 1.6K Supersport)
Tight fart
Weirdy as tony states your getting 26 mpg so your a wimp 😬 On track you'll need about 45 litres to do a 100 mile race. 😳 A7 RDP pics here
CHRIS CLARK
I feel better. I used to run a 1400 SS (133bhp on the RR) and it gave 32 mpg most times. The 1800 202bhp unit now fitted gives me about 24.5/25 mpg on road two up etc. Not too bad then!!!
DaveMorris
I've got a x-flow. I don't check m.p.g. any more.
blade_runner
Dave... that was 25 mph in reverse..... i know it a little short of the 102 mph my car has done in reverse.... but i'm working up to it! 😬 'Pinky Pics' here
Weirdy
Mav I always thought it did have, but to be honest the guage isn't the most accurate one I have owned 😬 So perhaps running it down even further will do the job.... So a 35 litre tank and five reserve, or as the guages states, a 25 litre tank 😬 and a 15 reserve LOL either way monitoring the MPG buy the amount flying through it is best.... *cough* Having sold the Scoobi and bough a WHITE Escort on a 'P' plate so Tnaya can also drive it, I am trying to show I get good millage when I behave, So, I got 110 miles from 1/4 of a tank coming back from bedford last month, but as the guage is so rubbish I haven't a clue how many litres that is.....
