wardybits Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 My K-series water temp gauge read constant 80 for years, I've just replaced the faulty sensor on the water rail and now the gauge reads 90. Is 90 about right?
SM25T Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Depends on your thermostat. I have an 82C thermostat, and gauge temperature is pretty steady at around 80C in all weathers, even 40+ degrees in summer.
Edzup Ezzer Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Might be just a different 'calibration' for the new sensor. If nothing else has been changed then I wouldn't be too concerned unless there are other indicators of a change in water temp.
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted August 18, 2022 Leadership Team Posted August 18, 2022 I have an 82 deg stat fitted and my temperature gauge generally reads close to 90 (Stack analogue gauge).I wouldn't be overly concerned about the actual reading, the temperature is unlikely to be different to before and there'll be a tolerance allowed in the sender. Maybe buy/borrow a laser temperature gun to give yourself peace of mind, point it at the sender base and you'll get an accurate temperature.
Toby S Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 Mine is a 1400 Supersport - Must admit for most of the time it reads around 82-85 in normal conditions, but during the heatwave over the last few weekends I noticed it generally running a bit hotter around or just below 90. I have bled the system a couple of times thinking there must be an air lock, but that hasn't changed itFan cuts in at 92 and cuts out a 88/89 degrees and I've noticed it needing to work much harder (staying on longer) in the hot weather when stuck in traffic which doesn't surprise me given the ambient air temperature - gave the radiator a good brush to remove dead flies the other day which seemed to help things slightly
Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted August 18, 2022 Area Representative Posted August 18, 2022 As others, there is an 82°C stat on the K series in my 21. A displayed temperature of something a smidge over 80°C is maintained despite the full undertray but with the aid of a Radtec Extreme (but maintaining forward movement makes a difference).
