Roearn
Hello. Can anyone help.I'm building a 270s. I need to make a new offside rear brake line. The short length on the De Dion. I want to buy a new straight length and bend it myself. I'm away from home and away from my build, tools and everything. Surprisingly, there is a local auto shop that can make a new length for me. But I'm not sure of the dia and length. I think dia is 1/4 or 5/16 inch. The length will be developed +30/40mm. Is there anyone who can tell me this info. Regards Roger
OldAndrewE
Can't help with the length but brake pipes are usually 3/16" dia.

ScottR400D
Is there a reason why you didn't get one with the kit or is it not a new kit?Aren't these available from CC for not that much money?
Roearn
Hi ScottR.I didn't like the route to the caliper, so I tried altering it, and spoiled it. I want a new length that's longer so I can bend it myself, with a bending tool I've bought. I'm away from home "dog sitting" for my daughter and twiddling my fingers. And there's an auto shop close that could make a new length, if I new the diameter and length. Roger.
OldAndrewE
You also need to know what end fittings you need (male or female) and what flares are on the pipe ends
Roearn
Andrew,Yes, I'm going to have to wait until I get home and take my spoiled pipe somewhere as a pattern. In my ignorance I bought a kit online to make a new pipe. Only to find it would only make female end connections. The pipe off my 270 is a male end. Roger. 7 wonders of the world
Why not take the oppertunity to fit the flexible hoses - which is what CC should have fitted in the first place.
ChrisC
If you ask CC, I am sure they will send you a replacement. CC won't present a car for IVA with the flex lines fitted, and you will have to pay for the swap back to hard lines at PBC, so don't be tempted to swap now. 7 wonders of the world
Why, whats the problem with flexible rear lines and the IVA...?
ChrisC
It's deviation that's the main issue, keeping it in known pass ready state is the aim of the game. I was told there is history between CC and DVSA about this very component, but never got to the detail of what that was.
7 wonders of the world
How odd, as they will happily pass a car with a rigid line attached to a floating caliper - which contradicts their own IVA manual.Previous car went through SVA with them fitted no problem.I heard there was an issue with protection needing to be added to the flex from chassis to Dedion tube.
