  1. Ok, thanks Graham for these pics. Your pipe looks neater than mine, but not that much. Hopefully some small tweaks is all I need, as it seems there’s only a certain amount you can do. Regards, Roger.
  2. Thanks for these replies. The photos are really helpful, as it’s completely different to my routing. Jonathan, I didn’t have the text guide for the first few weeks of the build. From first thoughts of a Lotus 7 to me placing an order was 3 weeks. No planning, forethought or research. Thought the picture book was it, and then the pitfalls. Graham, Yes please on your photographs. With coolant drained and hose removed, good time to be able to check on your comments. Was thinking I was coming to the end of the build. No chance. Roger
  3. A photo would be great, thanks. Roger
  4. At my PBC it was suggested I reroute the hose to the bottom radiator. It is not obvious to me what the reroute should be. Does anyone have photographs of the hose to bottom radiator?
  5. Yes JV, I’ve made progress. It was a dirty window until I understood the AS designation. Thanks.

  7. Thanks Jon for pointing me in right direction. R*.
  8. I’ve damaged the thread on the hub carrier where the bottom wishbone bolts. I want to clean the thread. Can anyone tell me what size thread and pitch so I can get the correct die to clean. Thanks, Roger

    Winter storage

Well, there's more for me to contemplate than I expected. Thanks too all for advice and comments. And yes, Big Col, an interesting overview of all that's going on out of sight.. Roger.

    Winter storage

I'm close to completing my 270S build, and starting to think about it being laid up during Winter. It's in a brick and concrete garage. Can any members give me advice on best way to keep damp at lowest costs out of the building. I'm thinking along lines of some sort of trickle heater placed beneath the car. Thanks, Roger.

    IVA check list

I've just had my 270S PBC'd at the dealers. They pointed out that I need a collapse unit behind the steering wheel and to mark the switches on the dashboard. The IVA checklist I have doesn't mention these two points, so I asked for a list that says this. They were unable to give me one. Does anyone know what list shows this, and any other points I may not be aware of.

    270S build

JV. My experience is that they reply well. I've just had a reply from Caterham to my wiring query. Two weeks later. Seems Lee was out of office. Made me smile, as I've tried to keep questions to a minimum and not ask anything stupid. Roger.

    270S build

Mic & Jonathan, Thanks very much for that info. Why do Caterham seem to be reluctant to answer wiring queries and supply diagrams. Roger

    270S build

Can anyone help me. I'm trying to connect up the wiring on my new build. I've asked Caterham but they are a bit slow in coming back to me. 1. There is a lead coming off the LH side of engine. I think it's for oil pressure, with a dedicated round plug. It has three wires. Black, Green and Green/Orange. I cannot find anywhere to connect it to. 2. At the front of the car, around the radiator. Two female tab connectors. One Black wire and one Black/Brown. Cannot find where to connect to. I've got wires to the horn and radiator fan. What else is there? Regards, Roger
  17. Thanks all for your comments. I was fishing to see if someone would tell me there's a gadget that is available. ie. Something like a "super trolley jack" that is stable and highly manoeuvrable that could raise the front while the rear wheels push. My best thoughts at the moment are timber chocks formed like two (per wheel) caravan levelling ramps back to back. Roger.
  18. Hello. I'm 75% through a 270s new build. I'm probably going to have a problem exiting my driveway. It is steep and the car will probably bottom at the apex. Are there any devices available to help clear the car over the apex.
  19. Andrew, Yes, I'm going to have to wait until I get home and take my spoiled pipe somewhere as a pattern. In my ignorance I bought a kit online to make a new pipe. Only to find it would only make female end connections. The pipe off my 270 is a male end. Roger.
  20. Hi ScottR. I didn't like the route to the caliper, so I tried altering it, and spoiled it. I want a new length that's longer so I can bend it myself, with a bending tool I've bought. I'm away from home "dog sitting" for my daughter and twiddling my fingers. And there's an auto shop close that could make a new length, if I new the diameter and length. Roger.
  21. Hello. Can anyone help. I'm building a 270s. I need to make a new offside rear brake line. The short length on the De Dion. I want to buy a new straight length and bend it myself. I'm away from home and away from my build, tools and everything. Surprisingly, there is a local auto shop that can make a new length for me. But I'm not sure of the dia and length. I think dia is 1/4 or 5/16 inch. The length will be developed +30/40mm. Is there anyone who can tell me this info. Regards Roger
