Tazio
When I disassembled my exhaust system, at the joint where the 4, goes into 2, there were the remains of what looked like a metal sleeves, between the primaries and the tailpipe connection, though they were totally rusted out. Now I've bolted it back up, you've guessed it blows like a whale.. Any recommendations as what to use to seal it?, make new seals from drink cans perhaps?Alan
AnkerB-S
The only proper way is to replace the rusted parts with new or used ones in good shape.
Member Jonathan Kay Posted August 28, 2021 Member Share Posted August 28, 2021 Does the connection rattle when shaken by hand? Can you add some photos of what the ends look like after cleaning?Jonathan
Tazio
I cheated, and used loctite 5990 silicone I'll see how that goes.
Molecular--Bob
If it doesn't work a proper exhaust place could probably expand them a little for you.

SM25T
No ... that hardens and crumbles. The orange silicone is better.
Sooty
5990 only good up to 300 degrees IIRC. Would be better solution to swage the inner out to create a tighter fit. Mine has no sealant and is a snug push fit with no leakage
Tazio
David, My ideal would be a bespoke stainless system with larger primaries from someone like Edwards in Wisbech, or find an original crossflow 4 : 1 system, if such a thing exists in someones loft/shed.
