David aka Blue7
I have a friend asking for recommendations between the Avon ZZS and Toyo Protege R1, I can't really help because I have only ever used Avon on my 7. Does anyone here have any experience of these two makes of tyres?David
Area Representative gileshudson Posted May 28, 2021 Area Representative Share Posted May 28, 2021 Are you sure that you have the Toyo tyre name correct, as I've never heard of that one? I have 16" Toyo Proxes R1R on my seven, which is a softer sticker version of the Toyo Proxes T1R. Sadly they are stopping production of the R1R... they may have even stopped by now. I had to get mine by driving to a motorsport specialist tyre garage in High Wycombe who had bought bulk volumes of the R1R's in different sizes as they knew they were being discontinued. David aka Blue7
Thanks for the input Giles, I have just queried it with him and he was in error it was as you say R1R and they are no longer available so he thinks he will go with the TR1David
D Jones
Giles, can you advise on the company in High Wycombe, as they are just down the road from me.

Dave Hardcastle
I fitted TR1's to my previous Caterham. A mistake I won't be making again, they were horrible, on the road and track.
