Manstein
I've been broken down in Guildford today with a split plastic connector between silicone water hoses. Its a straight connector with push on fittings secured with hose clips. To avoid this problem in future just wondering if this type of connector is available in brass or similar? Hose internal diameter looks to be about 15mm.thanks.
Member Jonathan Kay Posted August 21, 2018 Member Share Posted August 21, 2018 Yes. How long? I'd start with Car Builder Solutions, but sources include both automotive and building plumbing!Jonathan
revilla
If it's a K Series, that connector is actually a reducer with something like 15mm on one side for the heater and something a bit larger on the other side to the thermostat housing. Can't remember the actual diameter off the top of my head, maybe somebody can fill me in?
Manstein
Thanks, both the input and output pipes are the same diameter which makes me wonder why its there at all? Luckily the AA guy had a replacement and I'll carry one in future. Cars a CSR 260.
revilla
Ah OK. Probably makes the choice a bit wider.
John Vine
Out of interest, where exactly is this connector? The ones that tend to fail on Duratecs are T-pieces, but you say yours is a straight connector?JVt
Manstein
Yes John its a straight connector about 100mm long. Its between two hoses coming from block and proceeding to the heater on left rear of engine.
Wrightpayne
I have a brand new mocal ally connector that should fit - I’ll dig it out if you’re interested and check.Ian

SM25T
A short bit of 15mm copper tube and two jubilee clips makes a useful emergency spare in the tool bag.
