Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted July 3, 2018 Author Leadership Team Share Posted July 3, 2018 Caterham and Redline both out of stock.I've looked at the sensors available from both Burton and Rally Design and they're 3-wire units (+ve, -ve, signal) whereas the Caterham sensor is only 2-wire (+ve, signal) - the 3 wire units have plastic cases.Stu. Member Jonathan Kay Posted July 3, 2018 Member Share Posted July 3, 2018 I don't know the details but these threads suggest that the three wire REVFSS sensor can be used: 1, 2. CycleSi might be able to advise on the way that he connected it.Jonathan
nutty7
I used the Burton one REVFSS when mine failed and couldn't find a direct placement. You will also need to change the adapter REVT9-A as the sensor thread differs. The replacement does have three wires power, signal and earth you will need a multimeter to determine each one.I then cut the connector off the old sensor and soldered the power and signal of the new sensor to it then plugged the connector back in.The earth wire was then screwed to the chassis close to the sensor. Though someone may have a better solution. It works and is a cheaper replacement.Nutty

Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted July 19, 2018 Author Leadership Team Share Posted July 19, 2018 And the result is ...This is a bespoke part manufactured for the Caterham. As mentioned there are work-arounds based on alternative sensors with the main modification needed being the addition of an earth feed due to the Caterham o/e part only being a 2-wire sensor (+ve and pulse signal, earthed through the sensor body). Both Caterham and Redline now have stock of the o/e part.Stu.
TomB
Might be worth buying a spare! Now you just need the car to fit it to....
Dave Hardcastle
Nutty, thanks for posting that!! My standard one just failed, wires came away, and Caterham's £108 is a ridiculous price! Just fitted the REVFSS and REVT9-A. It's working, just haven't tested the accuracy, not that it was particularly accurate as standard :-)Dave
7 wonders of the world
Hmmm...... In 2006 my original one failed en route to PBC and I had to fit a new one, thankfully Millwood had one which was fitted as I was then going straight to SVA. I had the new one in my hand and distinctly remember a Ford stamp on it.....
