coffeekid
Behind drivers side rear arch, where the wires go to the rear light cluster there are 2 connectors hanging. Black wire and green wire. Any idea what they are for?
Tony Whitley
I think the green one is for an extra brake light.
Member Jonathan Kay Posted June 12, 2018 Member Share Posted June 12, 2018 Green is conventionally "Accessories fused by ignition switch" and Black earth. So my first guess would be they're for an accessory power supply. Some Sevens do come wired for an extra brake light, and I'd expect those to have a Green/Purple feed.Have you got a multimeter and a wiring diagram?Jonathan
coffeekid
Have just double checked - it is actually green and purple so does that mean I don’t need the sub loom I have just ordered
SM25T
Stick a meter or bulb across the connectors and see if they are powered up when brake pedal pressed with ignition on ... or always powered up with ignition on.
Ian Mackenzie
green purple from the wiring diagrams I've seen is the rear brake light.CheersIan
Speedtrip
I plugged the sub loom into these. Much better than butchering the main wiring...
Member Jonathan Kay Posted June 13, 2018 Member Share Posted June 13, 2018 Much better than butchering the main wiring... Yes, but with the fitted leads was there enough length to connect the additional light unit directly without the subloom? And which type was it?ThanksJonathan
Speedtrip
The light I fitted came with its own cable, which I connected to subloom in the boot. From memory the subloom will only get you into the boot.
