mossy7
I wondered where that rattle was coming from. This is mildly annoying. Common problem apparently. Cable tie anyone?
John Vine
Exactly the same thing happened on my R400D within its first year. I stopped it moving about with a cable tie pro tem but arranged with CC to replace it FOC with the revised EPDM rubber hose. I don't know whether a similar part is available for a Sigma.JV
Member Jonathan Kay Posted October 6, 2016 Member Share Posted October 6, 2016 What is it?ThanksJonathan
John Vine
It's the aluminium section of top hose between the rear of the engine and the top rad hose. JV
Member Jonathan Kay Posted October 6, 2016 Member Share Posted October 6, 2016 Thanks... and the bracket is fixed to that hose, and the movement and vibration is handled by the thing that looks like a rubber washer?Jonathan
ballisticsupersport
Exactly the same thing happened to my sigma supersport in its first year. CC replaced it FOC and it's been fine ever since (2 1/2 years).I worry more when things stop rattling!
John Vine
Something like that, JK. I don't know how the Sigma pipe is attached (although it appears to be mounted on the plenum), but the Duratec one bolts directly to the engine. Here's a shot taken from above, showing the front mount:It attaches underneath the belt tensioner. (You can see the cable ties I used to keep it chained down.)JV
Member Jonathan Kay Posted October 6, 2016 Member Share Posted October 6, 2016 Thanks. With a rubber hose at both ends that washer doesn't look so inadequate.Jonathan
JNC
@ JV , it's rubber hose all the way now !.
mossy7
Thing is, even if CC will replace it under warranty, I'm not sure I can be bothered to take it. It's 2 plus hours of motorway from mine to Crawley and that's just not fun. Surely there is an elegant fix someone has done? Still mildly annoyed. elie boone
Fix it with a P clip ?
SM25T
If it is rubber all the way .... Will it soften with the rising heat from the primaries ?
mossy7
A P clip? Or 2 perhaps? Thanks elie.. That's given me a neat idea.
John Vine
Should be OK, Ian, as the primaries are on the other side! And if it's EPDM rubber (like the Duratec), it'll have excellent heat resistance anyway.PS: I like the P-clip idea.JV
SM25T
That's a better design then !! :-)
