Member Jonathan Kay Posted September 10, 2014 Member Share Posted September 10, 2014 What happens when you short out the wires to the sensor? We're at OX44 9DB: let me know if you need a garage to work in. Jonathan
Simon.Rogers1
I have pointed Andreas to Tom New. I also suggested he just run with the fan on permanently.
Myles
Is the water actually cooking? I had one very-worrying trip down the country to a trackday years ago - the standard gauge was maxed out but the fan wasn't coming on. I frigged the fan by removing the connectors from the rad and shorting them with a spare fuse and some zip ties. Made it to the trackday only to find that the cooling was working fine - it was just the temp sensor that had gone nuts, resulting in a false reading... Not all problems are what they seem... Area Representative Andreas Seydell Posted September 12, 2014 Author Area Representative Share Posted September 12, 2014 Ok, Tom built in a switch. Go enough to drive to Goodwood an than to Germany. The motor has a rebuilt last year and I think I hear never the fan since that time ... Where is the switch for the fans on the Duratec 2.3? Hanns Per
Hello Andreas, I once had the same problem see my post here. I did drive long time with fans permanently on, it was not the temp sensor in the center of the head (have several of them in stock). Finally I could solve it only with a new ECU. Area Representative Andreas Seydell Posted September 16, 2014 Author Area Representative Share Posted September 16, 2014 Sometimes I will change the ICU. But for next step, why not a temp-switch on the cooler? Edited by - aseydell on 16 Sep 2014 09:51:
Area Representative Andreas Seydell Posted October 13, 2014 Author Area Representative Share Posted October 13, 2014 Build in a fixed switch 80 degrees to both fans.Does temperature gauge works through ECU? Dosn't work very well !!!I think 80 degrees for fan is to low.Anny better degrees?
SM25T
On my k-series I have an 82C water thermostat and a fan switch in the top of the radiator that switches the fan on at 95C. I believe it may be switched by the ECU on these new Ford engines.
Hanns Per
the thermostat on the inlet side is 82 or 85 celsius. The temp sender for the ECU is on the rear water exit of the engine. Also the temp sender for the instrument is there. In my (MBE) ECU the trigger temp for the fans is set at 92 celsius.
