richy
Track day tyres only. Used up the tread on the old CR500's I bought 2nd hand last year. Any suggestions on what tyres I should put on next? 6 inch wheels all round. Sticky slicks? or blagging more old tyres off Blatchat? 125bhp Sigma. Rampmonkey
Blag all the way! I have a regular turnover of tyres and an arrangement with my local tyre shed for free fitting! Part worn 048s are brilliant! You can take the man out of Yorkshire.... 😬 Edited by - Rampmonkey on 7 Oct 2012 09:44:
Mankee
There's an eBayer user called "super_slicks" who deals in part-worn slicks as well. I can't see any 16/53-13 for sale at the moment though.
Garibaldi
Hi Ricky I have a coupe of sets of part worn Michelin slicks I have been meaning to put on here for ages... 16x53x13 fronts with 200x54x13 rears - 2 each per set. I was looking for say £45 a set plus postage... Let me know if you would be interested. Cheers Gary
Z3MCJez
Don't put slicks on a 125. You'll be so overtyred that it will lose the fun. If you want old CR500s I've got a few, but they're all on wheels at the moment. Jez (in Kent)
richy
Thanks for your responses. Jez - interesting comment. Open diff as well. I don't want a boring car 😬. Gary - thanks for the info. I'm out of country at the mo, so it won't be till early next year when I need them. I've also been offered some part worn ACB10's. Decisions decisions. Area Representative skeetsy Posted October 11, 2012 Area Representative Share Posted October 11, 2012 Hi, Just in case you aren't aware ACB10's are crossply tyres and your car will almost certainly have been set up for radial tyres. richy
Thanks Richard, I didn't know that. More info to add to the confusion! Cheers, Richy
Area Representative Nick Chan Posted October 11, 2012 Area Representative Share Posted October 11, 2012 But its unlikely to make much difference to your car if used just for trackdays according to Jonny LeRoux (Bookatrack) I have used ACB10's and crossply slicks on my cars for several years when on track and they are set up for radial typres. Never had a problem with them. Now I use radial slicks as they are easy to get hold of so its not a problem either way!
Area Representative skeetsy Posted October 12, 2012 Area Representative Share Posted October 12, 2012 They certainly felt a bit funny on the road The other thing to be mindful of with ACB10's is that because they are a hand made tyre it is fairly critical that they are fitted correctly for directional rotation as they could potentially un-peel if fitted the wrong way round All the best Richard
