SiCrad
So, i've got the R1 Engine, I've got the car but what I don't have (myself) is the wherewithal to effectively mate the two. Unfortunately, the chap who was recommended and with whom I was going to work on this (manufacturing a cradle to suit and sorting the propshaft etc) has let me down. So, oh mighty POBC, any contacts or ideas? I've been in touch with Arch - they can do it but at a price - and I just wanted to see if anyone has any recommendations for someone either experienced in BEC installations or of suitably perverse engineering bent who might be able to help me get this sorted. Violet Elizabeth
Clive is yer-man Probably the easiest way is to get an engine cradle from one of the 7-esque manufacturers. MK Engineering springs to mind, as the Indy often uses an R1. Fit the engine in the cradle, then work out how much it pokes out the top/bottom. You can then play with positioning the cradle in the car (sans engine). One or more of the diagonals may have to go. When you know where you want it to go, Arch can weld in the braketry. robmar
Try Ian Dayson and force racing cars, he has done a number of busa conversions to a high standard... and I cannot recommend him more highly from my personal experience of dealing with him his contact details rob
Atinod
I would absolutely agree with Rob regarding Ian Dayson, who has worked on my busa too. He has great attention to detail and a very high standard of work
charlie_pank
When I put in the R1, I got the chassis modded by Stuart Taylor Motorsport, that's also who did Clive's original install.
Violet Elizabeth
Ian went off to do a 1960s F1 car replia kit a few years ago. Don't think he does this sort of thing anymore. Might also be worth a chat with Chris at the 7 Workshop, as he has a fair bit of experience with bike engines. Violet Elizabeth
Aha, maybe he is venturing back ? Not heard much about his F1-67 project since he did some track testing in 2009.
