fauxae
Has anybody made a wind deflector for a Series 5 or adapted another cars to fit and attached it to the roll bar?
Stationary M25 Traveller
We made a full mesh screen that fits inside the roll bar. It looks good and performs well. It catches most of the spray when driving in the rain with the half hood fitted, and stops all buffeting up to 70mph when driving with screen and no doors. Leadership Team Garry7 Posted September 5, 2012 Leadership Team Share Posted September 5, 2012 I have the SBFS one, with handy storage pocket fitted. Works very well - even above 70. Have tried driving without it fitted - put it straight back on
fauxae
The soft bits one only fits between the headrests. I was thinking the rollbar covers a bigger area and that would that be more effective. What did you use for the mesh on the one you made? Was that attached to the rollbar by Velcro? Stationary M25 Traveller
Black insect mesh. Black cloth tape round the outside edges folded in half round a stainless rod and sewn to the edge of the mesh. Secured to the roll bar with elastic straps with Velcro patches. On the underside, elastic straps with poppers onto the tonneau fixings. The elastic is necessary for tension in the mesh.

Tyrone
Ian, where did you buy all the bits? Have you got photos of 'the build'?
Croc
I bought mine on Ebay UK from a seller "Barbarav1959" She was making them along with shower caps. Works very well .
tbird
I also made something similar to Ians, got my mesh from The mesh company. Certainly find it reduces spray through roll bar, not sure It reduces buffeting for me, I wonder what the difference is ? Tyrone if you are around Kielder in the next coupl of weeks you are welcome to have a look at mine 😳, probably arrange coffee and cake/ beer as well Tim Edited by - tbird on 6 Sep 2012 01:05:
Stationary M25 Traveller
Well - I can't compete with local coffee, cake and beer 😬 Tim - the buffeting is much the same with the doors on, but disappears with the doors off !! Our co-conspirators on the mesh screen bought the bits (and sewed them together too 😶🌫️) The mesh was bought on line, the black cloth tape, black elastic and velcro from a sewing/haberdashers shop and the stainless rod - not sure if it was on-line or through a steel suppliers. That was the most expensive bit.
Smiffy69
You see that's the problem with BC - people keep providing great ideas and suggestions to keep me fixing problems I did not know I even had. It looks like this is my next project !!
dom69
considering making one to go in the roll bar out of perspex with vents to allow air to flow through, nice winter project
tbird
certainly doable, Hanns Per Kober, over in Austria, had a working prototype a couple of years ago, not sure if he still uses it Tim
Tyrone
Tim, Can I take a rain check. Once I've sorted the burnt out wiring, a trip up to yours would be a nice little shakedown. Any beer in particular? 😬
tbird
Nel's best, Auld hemp, or I have some nice beers in from some of the better midland breweries, or Peroni if you don't like real beer :-) Tim

Tyrone
Got the guns to lift the pints, unfortunately, I've got the bar to rest the pint on too! 😬 Love a good beer festival, can you promise to keep the local farm boys in check though. I know from experience that they don't like us boys from the big city!
tbird
fraid not, best I can do is vouch for you and hide their Banjos, they're pretty harmless after the first gallon or so, thats when they start looking 🥰 at the local sheep. 😳 Tim
